Mumsnet users hare the times their toddlers have ‘helped’ around the house with Fairy Non Bio

Whether it’s their facial expressions or what they’re doing around the house, toddlers love to copy mum and dad. Fairy Non Bio would like to hear your stories about when your toddler has tried to ‘help’ around the house, seemingly unaware that they’re probably reversing your hard work.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “’We love it when a family unit comes together and everyone wants to help out, but because of all the chemicals in a laundry detergent we want to ensure that doing the laundry is only a mum & dad chore, however we would love to hear of all the other examples of how your toddler tries to help around the home”

Has your child attempted to do the hoovering? Perhaps they repeatedly empty and put away the contents of any cupboard they’re able to open? Maybe they enjoy destroying your organisation by sorting the clean washing?

my daughter ava wanted to help with the hoovering although when I turned around for a few seconds she had the washing powder over the carpet she thought it was shake n vac eek!!

When my DS was a toddler, his speech was very restricted. My DF had a huge blanket box in his hallway and it had a key lock at the perfect height for DS. Watching my DF sort through keys one day, DS decided to "help" by bringing my DF the key. DF gave DS the key to put back, which he happily toddled off to do. A week or so later, we were visiting DF again and he mentioned that the key from the blanket box was missing. Both DF and I asked DS where he had put the key. Repeatedly DS took us to the front door and pointed towards it, but we could not see the key anywhere nearby.

Frustrated, we accepted that the key would turn up at some point. Each time we visited and mentioned the key, DS would go to the front door and point. Fast forward a few weeks and I received a call from DF - he had found the missing key! DS had very kindly pushed it into the letterbox and, although we had looked through the letterbox, the key had been put just past the bristles, so was hidden from view. For some reason, my DF didn't keep the key in the lock for several years!

My Daughter likes to take everything out of the food cupboard and strategically place it around my kitchen floor!

My 2 year old daughter always takes her dirty clothes to the washing basket also likes to help clearing table after our dinners :)

My toddler always 'helps' with the washing and has tantrums when the machine is on because she needs the 'wash' to hang up now.
Yesterday she also took the tissue I had just used to wipe her snotty nose and started dusting the furniture

Mine loves to tidy their toys and help put away clothes.

Perhaps inspired by the coloured glass in the the front door pane , our little one decided to help the place look nicer , by decorating the French windows with rainbows using his crayons ..... That took a lot of elbow grease to clean off and I swear you could still see smudges on very sunny days months later .

My 18 month old loves to help. He likes to put things away (in very secret places) and put things on the radiator to dry (and then takes them back off again).

The cutest thing he does is takes out the broom (3 times his height) and sweeps the floors and tries to dust the sofa with it. He’s so great at it I’ve ended up buying him his own little sized broom and dustpan and brush.

My for year old likes to put clean laundry away - generally hanging knickers and socks on all the available drawer handles which looks delightful!!

When toddlers they used to love pegging the washing on the line. I used to get them a chair so they could stand on it and help.

My son used to love spraying the ‘cleaning fluid’ I would give him but really it was water in a spray bottle. He really thought he was helping.
