Mumsnet users hare the times their toddlers have ‘helped’ around the house with Fairy Non Bio

NOW CLOSED

Whether it’s their facial expressions or what they’re doing around the house, toddlers love to copy mum and dad. Fairy Non Bio would like to hear your stories about when your toddler has tried to ‘help’ around the house, seemingly unaware that they’re probably reversing your hard work.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “’We love it when a family unit comes together and everyone wants to help out, but because of all the chemicals in a laundry detergent we want to ensure that doing the laundry is only a mum & dad chore, however we would love to hear of all the other examples of how your toddler tries to help around the home”

Has your child attempted to do the hoovering? Perhaps they repeatedly empty and put away the contents of any cupboard they’re able to open? Maybe they enjoy destroying your organisation by sorting the clean washing?

All who share their stores on when your toddler tried to ‘help’ around the house, on the thread below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of your choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

My daughter loves to' help', pushing me out of the way so she can help load the washing machine, trying to help we with the washing basket and actually tipping it over, re-sweeping my swept pile of dirt all around the front room

He's obsessed with the mop bucket - we have to put it outside in the shed to keep it away from him otherwise he tries to drag it around with him!

My daughter LOVES to help with the dogs. Feeding them results in more food on the floor than in the bowls. Getting them water usually means huge puddles everywhere. She once decided to 'wash' them. 2 dogs covered in fairy liquid but no water 😂

My 1 year old likes to empty the dishwasher...before the dishes have been washed usually. She's managed to smash 3 plates and once I had to wrestle a bread knife from her small, determined hand.

My nearly 2-year old put her dirty nappy in the washing basket (instead of the bin). I only found out 2 days later when sorting the laundry prior to putting it in the washing machine Envy

The time when she decided to 'clean' the TV with the magnetic fish tank cleaner... I don't know the science behind it, but the colour is seriously messed up where it touched!

D has always loved the Dyson slim and helps scoot around the kitchen with it. He helps unpack the shopping onto the floor too although that sometimes isn't much of a help.

My little boy "helps" me do the washing my dryer is in the bathroom. The washing machine is in the kitchen. So as in getting all the nice clean washing out off the dryer. Into nice piles. I thought he was helping putting it in the correct bedrooms. No. He was putting it back into the washing machine and actually managed to turn it on(without detergent)Grin

My daughter loved to help with her baby brother and would try and change his nappy when I was out of the room!

Helping tidy the bathroom, putting loo rolls down the toilet, and breaking my lipsticks in half, and putting them in the pot-pourri, so that it has "pretty pinky bits"! :)

My twin toddlers loved helping out, especially with their baby brother - I had to have eyes in the back of my head!

My DD used to love helping me when I was hanging out the washing and her job was to pass me the pegs. She very helpfully decided the pegs needed washing too (as they looked dirty she told me probably as they were wooden ones!) and had been busy putting them into the watering can when I wasn't looking. It was at this stage I decided to replace my old pegs with some colourful plastic ones which never look dirty!

My son has a thing about helping clean the windows and I say helping very loosely, He likes to do the lower part of the patio doors whilst I clean the top, but he as to be the one who sprays the widow cleaner . He also likes to help load and unload the washing machine, as for tidying up thats a no no

Mine loves to put wrappers and bits of paper into the bin in the kitchen, it started out as a game, now I don’t know how I got on without her!

My little one loves washing the grubby hand prints off the staircase walls. We start with a bowl of water with washing up liquid in it and a couple of sponges. She tries to copy me, but we end up with the most amazing amount of water and bubbles all over everything while she scrubs a small patch here and there. I usually have to go over the whole lot again later, but at least she has fun and I'm trying to teach her how to do it!

My little one loves to help clean our huge window in the living room, after watching his daddy with the window sponge and squidgy, he always gets it, out dips the sponge wherever he can find water, and gets stuck in! Sponging and wiping everything and anything in site. It amazes me how he always thinks about doing this just after we’ve cleaned the windows, and polished the furniture. As you can imagine it all needs redoing, but can’t help but smile at all the effort he puts in!😂x

Cooking seems to be the most popular thing to help out with in our house, especially if it's baking. Stirring the ingredients together and licking the icing from the bowl are probably the top activities!
