For many of us when we see or a hear a reference to a toy from our childhood, we are immediately transported by to a specific time when we were younger playing with that toy...queue all the nostalgic feelings. BRIO would love to know all the toys that give you that nostalgic feeling and what it is about them that makes you feel that way.

Here’s what BRIO have to say: “We just turned 130, yet we feel more vital than ever. And that’s a good thing when working with toys. Because just as play develops children, play has developed us as a company. Smart Tech is the latest integrated technology from BRIO which is adding extra layers of functionality and play value to our timeless toys. The Smart Tech trains can stop, turn around, go slower or go faster using the accessories that are in the range, bringing even more magic to the BRIO World. In a world full of technology and computers, traditional play is at the core of what we do at BRIO. Our Smart Tech range combines clever train technology with traditional play patterns, meaning as parents you don’t need to feel nostalgic for those classic toys as they’re at the heart of everything we do.”

Watch this video on the BRIO Smart tech Engine with Action Tunnel Set:

Is it the Troll Dolls that make you feel nostalgic as you remember spending hours styling their bright pink hair? Perhaps seeing your DC talking to imaginary people on your phone makes you remember you doing the same on your Chatter Telephone? Did you think of yourself as a highly-skilled chef with your Easy-Bake Oven? Would you just spend hours drawing out things on your Etch A Sketch? Or is it good old Play-Doh that always make you feel nostalgic whenever your child plays with it?

Whichever toys make you feel nostalgic, share them on the thread below and everyone who comments will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list) and another four MNers will win a BRIO Smart Tech Engine Set with Action Tunnels, worth £89.95 each.

Thanks and good luck.

Cindy and my brothers Lone Ranger set with Tonto and the waggon. Many happy hours spent

Care Bears! I absolutely loved them!! I had a right collection of them!

One that haunts me though is stickle bricks! There is something about the material and design that sends my teeth on edge and makes me want to bite them.. sounds totally weird I know! I can't talk about them or hear about them without it happening

Lego makes me feel nostalgic. All you required was imagination to build whatever you wanted.

maryandbuzz1 · 21/10/2018 09:29

I love the game of Monopoly. My brother and I would always play when my great aunt Doris came to stay....we would play with her over and over again!

Ganne1 · 21/10/2018 09:30

There were so many toys that we loved and will keep : Lego, Meccano, and, yes, Brio, but my favourite was the toy I had as a child in France. We called it Lupsy, and it was a small glow-worm shaped toy, which lit up when you cuddled it. It was very reassuring.

I loved my lego and board games such as MouseTrap and Connect 4. Interactive toys encouraged bonding with other family members and friends, so it brings back happy memories

My nan and grandad have just bought my daughter a cabbage patch doll ready for father Christmas. My nan and grandad also bought me a cabbage patch doll for Christmas back in the 80s when they made their first debut in the stores, and you had to line up for one!
I still have my cabbage patch, she is in one of those space saving bags in the loft. However when my nan showed me her it brought back so many happy memories of when i used to play with my cabbage patch. Life goes so fast, it makes you realise this when your own nan and grandad are buying for yet another generation and the toys have gone full circle. 🙈 #enjoyeverymoment #lifegoesbysoquickly

I used to love messing about with a slinky down the stairs. You don't see them around so much now.

My old school cabbage patch kid

Spirograph - Endless hours of fun with coloured biros making hallucinogenic patterns - Ah the 70's

hdh747 · 21/10/2018 09:44

Lego, meccano, kerplunk, and a snow globe.

becky004 · 21/10/2018 09:47

The Mousetrap game, Girls World, Guess who etc. Am almost 50 now and my children still play with my Etch A Sketch I got in the 70's!

cathisherwood · 21/10/2018 09:49

I loved my roller scates - bulky things that strapped over your shoes - I often had to share with my brother which often meant us wearing one each!

davidjswift · 21/10/2018 09:54

Matchbox and similar type small cars and lego

jelleng · 21/10/2018 09:58

Just a long piece of elastic takes me straight to the playground. Two people would stand opposite each other with the elastic going around their ankles then we would do a sequence of jumping on them, and the elastic would gradually be raised. I can't remember what this game was called though.

Has to be my Rubik's cube. I still have my original one. My daughter took it to school for a games day and the teacher said it was the most popular toy there. Just proves the oldies are the best.

spongebob1 · 21/10/2018 10:17

I loved my little fisher price plastic telly that when you wound it up with the big red button on the front it played nursery rhymes and then showed pictures from a slow winding reel. I still always love listening to this musical toy.

dovebetty · 21/10/2018 10:22

Spirograph brings back happy memories, playing for hours making very strange designs !

ThemisA · 21/10/2018 10:29

Tiny Tears doll, Lego, Mecano, Ladybird books, Pooh bear, 'Topsy and Tim' - I could go on...1

Fuzzy felts, probably from the 70's as they would have been handed down to me. Misfits, that card game. Ker Plunk! My Little Ponies. Little metal cars, I had two ice cream tubs full of them and I played with them for hours, pushing them round in traffic jams! Dominoes and cards. Sindy, i only ever had one but had a horse for her, for some reason my mum wouldn't buy me Barbies, although I managed to acquire some!

Outnumbrd · 21/10/2018 10:41

Oh and Care Bears, and Jem and her stage! Was my cousins! And a tape recorder, we used to record radio shows, of us speaking! Haha!

happysouls · 21/10/2018 10:52

My favourite toys from my era in the 70s was the Baby William dolls that were little bean dolls in matchboxes, affordable with pocket money and amazingly cute! I have a couple now! But most nostalgic are the battered cars, tin toys, board games and cards that were at my grandparents house. My Dad would have played with these as a child, then our generation did and then my son did as well. I have a collection of various things that were kept which I love to look at!

My little pony and polly pockets! I still have a few of my old ones from the 80's/90's which my 2 girls like to play with :)

clopper · 21/10/2018 11:05

I loved the dolls called tiny tears which would wee and cry and tiny pippa dolls which were like miniature Barrie’s. Also my bright orange rubber space hopper when playing outside.
