For many of us when we see or a hear a reference to a toy from our childhood, we are immediately transported by to a specific time when we were younger playing with that toy...queue all the nostalgic feelings. BRIO would love to know all the toys that give you that nostalgic feeling and what it is about them that makes you feel that way.

Here’s what BRIO have to say: “We just turned 130, yet we feel more vital than ever. And that’s a good thing when working with toys. Because just as play develops children, play has developed us as a company. Smart Tech is the latest integrated technology from BRIO which is adding extra layers of functionality and play value to our timeless toys. The Smart Tech trains can stop, turn around, go slower or go faster using the accessories that are in the range, bringing even more magic to the BRIO World. In a world full of technology and computers, traditional play is at the core of what we do at BRIO. Our Smart Tech range combines clever train technology with traditional play patterns, meaning as parents you don’t need to feel nostalgic for those classic toys as they’re at the heart of everything we do.”

Watch this video on the BRIO Smart tech Engine with Action Tunnel Set:

Is it the Troll Dolls that make you feel nostalgic as you remember spending hours styling their bright pink hair? Perhaps seeing your DC talking to imaginary people on your phone makes you remember you doing the same on your Chatter Telephone? Did you think of yourself as a highly-skilled chef with your Easy-Bake Oven? Would you just spend hours drawing out things on your Etch A Sketch? Or is it good old Play-Doh that always make you feel nostalgic whenever your child plays with it?

Whichever toys make you feel nostalgic, share them on the thread below and everyone who comments will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list) and another four MNers will win a BRIO Smart Tech Engine Set with Action Tunnels, worth £89.95 each.

Thanks and good luck.

Cars! My Granny used to buy me little match box cars from the post office when she got her pension. I had a road map and used to drive them round for ages and make up stories about their passengers. My DS now loves cars and trains too so it must run in the blood Smile

Trolls, definitely - they were massive in Year 7 and always remind me of that time. Otherwise, stuff like Glo Worms, Keypers, (original) My Little Pony, Rainbow Brite, Fisher Price stuff... basically a load of plastic tat!

prwilson · 21/10/2018 04:55

Sticklebricks - they don't seem to be around any more, but they allowed you to be very creative (more so than Lego) and they were fun to play with.

Clairecricket1 · 21/10/2018 05:53

Mine has to be the care bears

EmilyK83 · 21/10/2018 06:26

There are a few toys that stick in mind from when I was a kid! Tamagotchis, Mr Potato Head, the Mousetrap board game, Boglins, the Fisher Price telephone... there were loads!

Pastychef · 21/10/2018 06:34

Scalextric ! Hours of fun trying to make it work only to skid off the track on the first bend

TracyKNixon · 21/10/2018 06:37

My Little Pony Show Stable, Etch-a-sketch, Mouse Trap, Barbie, Sindy, Action Man, Care Bears, Cabbage Patch dolls, Chicaboos, Trimball......ah!

renas · 21/10/2018 06:57

I loved my mousetrap and sprirograph

Ratbagcatbag · 21/10/2018 07:06

Wow. Lots really. My big yellow tea pot, playing shops with Barbie and her pretend counter and little tins of food.
Mr Frosty - I never had it but always wanted it. Grabbed it for my daughter a couple of years ago. Always makes me smile.

Finally my huge collection of Enid Blyton books. A neighbour dropped round a huge pile of toys/jigsaws/books one day. It started my love of reading that continues to this day.

thomasthecheekyone · 21/10/2018 07:16

My doll! Soft bodied with hard head. My mum kept her and my DS3 now plays with her!

lovemyflipflops · 21/10/2018 07:19

For me it's anything Sindy, I had one for years, and when I got the horse a year later, I spent hours playing with her. Does anyone other than me remember making fences out if iced lolly sticks ? So it was a faultless round for Sindy and beauty her horse.

dul4hw · 21/10/2018 07:46

I loved my Lego and love joining in with my sons when they get theirs out now, it takes me right back!

samcornfield · 21/10/2018 07:48

My Cabbage Patch Kid. My youngest daughter now has mine.

edoody · 21/10/2018 07:50

Unlike my daughter, for me it was always Barbie, you name it I had it and would play for hours all by myself. The best by far was the Campervan (from the 80's- the new one has nothing on that)

sashh · 21/10/2018 07:55

I had an electronics kit, one of the few toys I asked for and got (we were not allowed anything advertised on TV).

I made all sorts of projects including a light that went on when someone was coming up the stairs so I knew to stop reading and pretend I was asleep.

I dreamed of a spirograph.

SSCRASE123 · 21/10/2018 08:17

Buckaroo for me, I used to love that game (It's on my lads Xmas list this year)

hmariez · 21/10/2018 08:21

The traditional brio train!! But also loved polly pockets xx

Beckyp93 · 21/10/2018 08:23

Furbys and the little care bear (love2bear think they're actually called or are called now!? But used to love them because of care bears on TV) keyring sized ones that you used to put the bottle to their mouth to feed them and they'd all be different colours and smells. Used to love them. My childhood right there. Grin

Definitely my spinning top! You had to really put some welly into it to get it going

glenka · 21/10/2018 08:40

It has to be Lego, I loved getting new sets and spending hours building them.

Waitingforgodot · 21/10/2018 08:55

I had all the old Ladybird books and I loved them.
Also had a Casper the friendly ghost. You pulled his head away from his body(attached with elastic) and he said some random stuff like "Will you be my friend"
Loved it

Belmo · 21/10/2018 09:00

jacknutter · 21/10/2018 09:03

silverrose56 · 21/10/2018 09:13
