This activity is now closed

As parents, it’s almost a right of passage to have at least a few nights where your child just won’t settle down for bed. They’re either still a little hyper from the day’s events, they don’t feel like sleeping or they’re just restless. That’s why Moonlite would love to know how you get your child to relax and calm down before bedtime.

Here’s what Moonlite have to say: “Moonlite makes bedtime stories come to life, with full HD story images and in-app sound effects to make the reading experience immersive and magical for children. Feed and fuel children's imaginations and bring back the love of reading through a creative, immersive storytelling and bonding experience.”

Watch this video all about how the Moonlite Storytime Projector can help you at bedtime:

Is it a classic bedtime story coupled with cosying up in bed that does the trick? Perhaps you find having quiet music playing in the background helps them calm down and feel sleepy? Do you try to get them into the same bedtime routine every night so they know when it’s time to wind down? Have you managed to find the blackest of black-out blinds? Or maybe a nice relaxing bath and getting into their cosy PJs tends to help?

However you get your child to relax before bedtime, post on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

she listened to classical music ( goodness knows why but I think Angelina Ballerina was a major influence ). She also had minor OCD so I learned not to put clean clothes in her room until the following day

I find a bath, warm pj's, reading a book usually works well.

Pastychef · 14/10/2018 08:03

Routine is important. Warm, milky drink, half an hour reading. Time for sleep.

finova · 14/10/2018 11:07

Bedtime story then an audio book here.

Shuggas · 14/10/2018 12:59

A nice hot bath, drink of milk (even my eldest still has a glass of milk before bed) and always a story, between making ones up together or a book.. they'd be hell on if there is no story.. I've tried Grin

debskeay · 14/10/2018 14:30

warm bath and then a hot chocolate

rennie1811 · 14/10/2018 14:35

For us its story time, my daughter reads a story to us and then we read to her as she falls asleep.

laurac1987 · 14/10/2018 18:15

A bath, followed by some relaxing lotions with lavender in and a bedtime story!

garytopley1 · 14/10/2018 18:52

sunshinewey · 14/10/2018 19:47

My routine stayed exactly the same......dinner, bath, cuddle, read a book then leave her with her nightlight chime.........

boobybirdsworth · 14/10/2018 20:56

Bath, bottle, book, bed :)

beckyinman · 14/10/2018 21:01

A regular routine - warm drink, lavender bath, bed time story from daddy then sleep

GetKnitted · 14/10/2018 22:00

You'll love this one, no screens for at least 30 mins before bedtime and NO LIGHTS in the bedroom. Biscuit It is also important to limit eating close to bedtime, since it resets the circadian clock.... HTH

sweir1 · 14/10/2018 22:30

We read a book together

sadiewoohoo · 16/10/2018 00:10

Talk through any concerns from during the day to put minds at rest and keep lights low and voices low

HannahLI · 16/10/2018 10:16

I find a bath is a really good way to calm them down then we snuggle down for stories. We always have a book on the go and I try and pick books that aren't too scary or hyped but have that warm and fuzzy feeling as this is perfect for before bed.

mishknight · 16/10/2018 12:38

we have always had a bedtime routine. milk before bed, upstairs at 7.30pm for teeth brushing and a story

devito92 · 16/10/2018 14:48

Bath time followed by reading a book of there choice ... seems to work everytime

MillyVanilli222 · 16/10/2018 19:13

We start off with bathtime, then after that, no screens/devices - I'll read some of their current favourite book, before sleep time!

Mariobug25 · 17/10/2018 00:26

My little one has a nice bubbly bath, gets into his PJs and gets into bed. He has his vitamin, a glass of milk and a yoghurt every night :) then it’s teeth brush time, followed by family cuddles! Love our little routine and he does too x

user1485629191 · 17/10/2018 10:07

PJs on, nice cuddle whilst watching the bedtime story on CBBC, into bed for a story and cuddles. We like cuddles!

dwerry · 17/10/2018 10:56

Reading to them I find is the best way. We always have a new story each night or continue a book we've already started. Also we always go back to their favorite stories frequently & lots of nursery rhymes because they know the words.

Ferryfairy · 17/10/2018 11:13

Routine. Quiet cuddle time, bath, book, bed.

cluckyhen · 17/10/2018 11:55

A nice warm bath. milk and toast

Doodygirl2009 · 17/10/2018 12:03

They have a bath, followed by a cup of hot chocolate then I read them a story and tuck them into bed
