This activity is now closed

As parents, it’s almost a right of passage to have at least a few nights where your child just won’t settle down for bed. They’re either still a little hyper from the day’s events, they don’t feel like sleeping or they’re just restless. That’s why Moonlite would love to know how you get your child to relax and calm down before bedtime.

Here’s what Moonlite have to say: “Moonlite makes bedtime stories come to life, with full HD story images and in-app sound effects to make the reading experience immersive and magical for children. Feed and fuel children's imaginations and bring back the love of reading through a creative, immersive storytelling and bonding experience.”

Watch this video all about how the Moonlite Storytime Projector can help you at bedtime:

Is it a classic bedtime story coupled with cosying up in bed that does the trick? Perhaps you find having quiet music playing in the background helps them calm down and feel sleepy? Do you try to get them into the same bedtime routine every night so they know when it’s time to wind down? Have you managed to find the blackest of black-out blinds? Or maybe a nice relaxing bath and getting into their cosy PJs tends to help?

However you get your child to relax before bedtime, post on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

jandoc · 11/10/2018 12:36

we try and always ensure a story gets told as that is calming

michael888 · 11/10/2018 12:49

A warm bath, book and lots of hugs does the trick in my household.

jonday81 · 11/10/2018 12:55

Warm milk and a story always works for me

kittykomp · 11/10/2018 13:02

gd2011 · 11/10/2018 13:30

Bedtime stories - but not scary ones

Emmax12 · 11/10/2018 13:32

The light goes out, my LG has milk and cuddles, she knows it’s sleeptime.

IonaAilidh11 · 11/10/2018 13:33

Pmliu · 11/10/2018 13:34

My little ones liked to have a bath and then settle down with a story with me whilst drinking warm milk and listening to lullabies to help them relax and sleep

emmav6 · 11/10/2018 13:38

sticking to routine has worked for our 3, a warm bath, cup of milk, story time and soothing lullabies :)

juju3 · 11/10/2018 13:46

old fashioned books, nursery rhymes and songs

lizd31 · 11/10/2018 13:47

I write my own stories in rhyme to read to them incorporating the names of my great niece, god daughter or godson, they absolutely love it & are enthralled & engrossed in the stories

vonniebab2 · 11/10/2018 13:48

A warm bubble bath, milky drink a little song and lots of cuddles

BL0SS0M · 11/10/2018 14:05

Bath, bottle, bed then reading time for 10-15mins with lights down low!

baby890 · 11/10/2018 14:09

Nice calming bath and a story in bed

pinkflump · 11/10/2018 14:11

Routine is key, bathtime, warm milk and then a story whilst laying in bed :) I don't mind if they want to sit up and look at the pictures but they must be in their bed and relaxing. I'm blessed with two very good sleepers who are soundo within a few minutes of lights out!

Snog · 11/10/2018 14:13

A relaxing bath and a story in my bed then transfer to her own bed - prewarmed with a hot water bottle!

Catmadroo · 11/10/2018 14:17

I've introduced no tv for hour before bed, we do something quiet like jigsaw or reading, at moment hasn't made a differnence, still takes him hours to settle to sleep. Waiting for a weighted blanket as he has special needs and hoping this will do the trick

hiddenmichelle · 11/10/2018 14:18

same routine every night. bath story bed!

mooota1514 · 11/10/2018 14:53

A bath and then a bedtime story, some soothing music and a soft toy. All very traditional.

glennamy · 11/10/2018 14:54

A bath followed by a bedtime story does the trick every time! :)

Streets84 · 11/10/2018 15:37

Our bedtime routine includes a nice bath, several stories, and low level relaxed lighting.

samanthasays · 11/10/2018 15:47

I start of with twinkle twinkle and then sing a song i've made up about him. Then I give him a gentle massage, relaxing his muscles after the day of running around!

meepmoop79 · 11/10/2018 15:48

It used to be a story (usually 4 each!) before bedtime. But now we have found that the children prefer to listen to audiobooks, after lights out.
These are then turned off after an hour.
