NOW CLOSED

Being chief decision-maker comes with the territory when you’re a parent - but sometimes the best way to go is not so clear cut. Take our quiz to find out how your decisions following common parenting conundrums align with those of other users’.

Here’s what O2 have to say: “#IsItAlright to let them use a tablet at breakfast? We hear you. Parenting is full of #IsItAlright questions, challenges and dilemmas. That’s why we’ve launched O2 Family, to bring advice, safety tools and kid-friendly offers to parents across the UK. We don’t pretend to have all the answers. But hopefully we make it a little easier to navigate the everyday messy magic of family life."

Whether you turn to the TV when things get tough, choose to embrace your child’s creativity no matter how questionable it may be or you find bargaining with your children the best way to get things done, take the quiz here and share any results that surprise you (or your own parenting conundrums) below.

All who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I was aligned with most other mumsnetters on most of the questions, except the vegetables one. I tend to bargain regarding vegetables - "one more piece of brocolli please...".

Kangakate · 02/10/2018 21:27

I was surprised that some kids don't like peas, there one of the only veg my daughter will eat

FrenchieMum2Be · 02/10/2018 21:31

I thought extra cuddles before bed would a more popular option, they're only little for a short while.

yorkie18 · 02/10/2018 21:31

The clothing conundrum, the grin and bear it result surprised me. I didn't think that would be the result on that one!

Compermo · 02/10/2018 21:35

For some of the questions, what would have been my answer wasn't amongst the options, so could have done with a blank or alternative box. For instance on the veg question, I would say, just give it a try, eat what you like, leave what you don't. Rather than it be a big issue. Their tastes change, and what friends eat can make a big difference to their opinion.
But in the main, I guess I was pretty average.

glmcall123 · 02/10/2018 21:49

I thought I was a fantastic mum but it turns out I'm normal.

dancingdirty · 02/10/2018 22:36

Done. I seem to agree with the masses alot

tubbyj · 02/10/2018 23:24

surprised I ma pretty average

jamielmdjs · 02/10/2018 23:29

Pretty normal it seems, more often than not it was the popular choices. Bargaining, putting the foot down popular choices.

Stephgr8 · 03/10/2018 03:29

I'm boringly average except definitely no to the pirate costume!

sugarplum11 · 03/10/2018 03:32

I'm surprisingly average which is reassuring.

JBH316 · 03/10/2018 09:27

Hanging my head in shame at offering an extra hour of tv time! On the whole though, my answers seemed to coincide with the majority.

sarac79 · 03/10/2018 10:04

Done - found i deal with issues much the same as other mums

Pimmpom · 03/10/2018 10:11

Nice to know I am not alone with my parenting skills!

09babisham · 03/10/2018 10:30

I would say i'm quite mainstream and have the patient of a saint especially after bringing up 5 little people. Definitely no pudding if veggies are not eaten or even tried.

maria08k · 03/10/2018 10:39

I was surprised that more people would let their kids dress as a pirate or such like instead of telling them to get their smart clothes on for a special family occasion. I also put that i would give my son extra cuddles for 30 mins if he was upset about going upto bed....perhaps im too soft. Lol

richbonio · 03/10/2018 10:44

Well it seems that I follow the same steps as many other of the parents that voted.

Out of the 5 questions I was with the majority on 4 questions with just the bedtime conundrum catching me out. I would turn into a little game rather than make it a little threat.

Anyhow, all in all a decent quiz. Will look out for more in the future.

patsywine · 03/10/2018 10:53

All my answers seemed to match other parents. All except 1. My children all love thier vegetables so no fuss there.

noynoyavery · 03/10/2018 11:11

Pretty normal apart from the Boardem one. It's good for people to do nothing sometimes, It's how we unwind and relax,

cpconnolly · 03/10/2018 11:32

I'm average for mumsnet! doesnt surpise me

cathyov · 03/10/2018 12:06

On the whole I agreed with other mums but feel I am a little bit of a disciplinarian and certainly would have wanted my child to change out of the outfit although would have allowed them to take the pirate outfit in a bag to change into later.

nanoobaku · 03/10/2018 12:49

average which is kind of what i expected

emmamed123 · 03/10/2018 13:31

none my answers seem to be with the majority of voters. sometimes its just easy to let the children have it there way for some quiet time. with having had 6 children, 3 of whom are now adults, I have experienced a lot, some times its not worth the fight, parents need to pick their battles.

robyn297 · 03/10/2018 13:33

Turns out I'm quite averaged.

I was surprised by the pirate costume though, I thought more parents would insist on getting changed. I thought it was only me that turned up at functions with pirates, fairies and witches.

bex552 · 03/10/2018 14:14

Some of the answers surprised me! You have to pick your battles though, best advice I was ever given!
