NOW CLOSED

Being chief decision-maker comes with the territory when you’re a parent - but sometimes the best way to go is not so clear cut. Take our quiz to find out how your decisions following common parenting conundrums align with those of other users’.

Here’s what O2 have to say: “#IsItAlright to let them use a tablet at breakfast? We hear you. Parenting is full of #IsItAlright questions, challenges and dilemmas. That’s why we’ve launched O2 Family, to bring advice, safety tools and kid-friendly offers to parents across the UK. We don’t pretend to have all the answers. But hopefully we make it a little easier to navigate the everyday messy magic of family life."

Whether you turn to the TV when things get tough, choose to embrace your child’s creativity no matter how questionable it may be or you find bargaining with your children the best way to get things done, take the quiz here and share any results that surprise you (or your own parenting conundrums) below.

All who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Seems I'm in the majority! But then I do wonder if many just answered what society would expect - or maybe the answers were too box like?

LemonLadybird · 24/09/2018 01:18

Average here!

Mum1g2b · 24/09/2018 03:06

I fell into the second highest % group for the majority of the questions. I did feel most of the questions related to toddler/pre school children (feeding, sleeping & dressing) so my kids are either too old or too young so answered based on what I would do.

Really surprised majority of parents would cry in the loo over violin practise!

rhinosuze · 24/09/2018 07:45

It's about what a right for you at the end of the day, only one of my answers was most popular and some did surprise me but I have a happy child and wouldn't change how I'd deal with things

dancemom · 24/09/2018 09:14

Swap violin for flute and that was my solution - earplugs!

Drogonssmile · 24/09/2018 09:25

Similar to majority answers really!

Bellroyd · 24/09/2018 09:51

I was surprised at the answers that involved bribes or threats. This is not a good way, as children will copy and that's not good for their furure well-being.

JemIsMyNameNooneElseIsTheSame · 24/09/2018 10:15

I'm Ms Average Mumsnetter apparently. Apart from bedtime when I'm a softy.

JoCar72 · 24/09/2018 11:02

Surprised myself agreeing with the majority on all but the last question about sticking the TV on or taking the kids out to the park during school hols. I think a little 'bending' of the truth was made by some there as my local park was suspiciously quiet during the Summer whilst I know it's not as easy to 'get out' when there's still cleaning, washing, shopping and cooking to be done ;)

frances93 · 24/09/2018 13:07

All done, I appreciate the fact many of us would do anything for an easy life of parenting but I do think sometimes the easiest way isnt always the best in the long run!

badgermum · 24/09/2018 13:07

I'm more relaxed about things than I thought!

helly27 · 24/09/2018 14:25

I was in the top two with my answers in each category so I guess average

MummyBtothree · 24/09/2018 14:45

Average here!

jazzitup · 24/09/2018 15:37

Survey done, What happens when you count to three and nothing happens, I hate that because it always sounds like a threat.

mollymoo818 · 24/09/2018 16:03

Yeah turns out we mumsnetters are all pretty much alike!

BlackeyedPetitsPois · 24/09/2018 16:24

My answers concurred with the Mumsnet majority.

MakeYourOwnFuckingTea · 24/09/2018 17:06

Mostly in agreement with my fellow mnetters. I know it's not ideal but sometimes I get a bit of hard earned peace by letting them use their devices in bed for an hour or more depending on what day it is and what not. I've put blue light filter on their devices too.

2Warriorsandawish · 24/09/2018 17:15

Seems I am a typical mum!

MrRichTea · 24/09/2018 17:35

super average - could be worse!

Pastychef · 24/09/2018 17:51

We've always prioritised our battles and stood united, not surprised that we agreed on all our answers

strawberrisc · 24/09/2018 18:22

Typical me. In the majority with some answers and the minority with others!

welcometonarnia · 24/09/2018 19:25

Lots of people OK with the pirate-dressing, including me. Grin You can only be a kid for so long!

katieskatie82 · 24/09/2018 19:42

all done, it turns out I'm an average mumsnetter! xx

Ikea1234 · 24/09/2018 19:51

Surprised I'm not as harsh as I thought! Turns out I'm quite balanced and mainstream! I was once told don't sweat the petty things (and don't pet the sweaty things😂!) and maybe I took it on board more than I thought!

Dormouse1940 · 24/09/2018 19:54

Suprisingly, I seemed to end up with the majority. Although a lot of it just seems to be common sense and general discipline...
