This activity is now closed

It’s fair to say that once you become a parent your efficiency skills reach their ultimate potential...gone are the days of spending spare minutes procrastinating about the million-and-one things you need to do. Now, when your DCs are watching a bit of telly you can complete the work that previously would have taken you five days of faffing. In half an hour you've changed the beds for the entire family, responded to your important emails, cooked a meal for four people (with dessert), and painted your toenails an exotic shade of blue. With that in mind, Sky Kids would love to know what you can do in the 30 minutes your children are having some down time.

Here’s what Sky Kids has to say: “The Sky Kids App is the perfect solution to keep your kids occupied during their (and your) well-earned downtime. …..With thousands of shows on demand including Paw Patrol, Ben 10 and Horrid Histories and interactive games for all ages like Art Studio, you can buy yourself some free time (enjoy that home pedicure!) safe in the knowledge that the available shows and games they're watching are age-appropriate and of course, entertaining.”

Do you have a to-do list ready and waiting for when you get a spare 30 mins so you can zap through it all? Perhaps when the children are watching Paw Patrol you manage to call and check in with family members whilst simultaneously preparing for a meeting you have the following day? Or maybe you sneak off to another room, finally able to treat yourself to a relaxing bath or watch your favourite TV show while the children watch theirs?

Whatever you’re able to get done, share it on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one winner will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

in 30 minutes I would shower, get dressed, have a cup of coffee while listening to the radio, bliss!

MissusDave · 24/08/2018 15:27

Throw some washing in the machine, make a cup of tea, make sure everything is organised to do some dinner in the evening, catch up on emails and social media x

MSHGW · 24/08/2018 15:33

A quick dust and hoover, and putting the laundry in the wash.

cathwarbur · 24/08/2018 15:36

In 30 minutes I can have a shower, get dressed & put my makeup on. I have had years of practise

Minnibix · 24/08/2018 15:37

I put any pots and pans to soak, quickly plump up the cushions in the living room and run the hoover over. That's about it, I must take a lesson from some of the more organised on here

vixxx666 · 24/08/2018 15:46

Wash up and clean the kitchen or clean both bathrooms. They're usually the jobs that need doing most!

Flowerpower222 · 24/08/2018 15:51

Get through a pile of ironing while the dinner is cooking, listen to a podcast and make a shopping list.

IonaAilidh11 · 24/08/2018 16:21

would manage to clean the kitchen and bathroom but not a deep clean

itsali · 24/08/2018 16:37

I can get a load of laundry in, dishwasher on, beds made, the house vacuumed and the bathroom cleaned if I go quickly although I'd rather spend it doing yoga.

AnimalAddict · 24/08/2018 16:43

Get caught up on some reading! :)

LeeR1985 · 24/08/2018 17:23

I can do a lot in 30 minutes. I can start cooking tea, throw a wash on, do the dishes and give some rooms a quick tidy :D

flamingtoaster · 24/08/2018 17:50

In 30 minutes I can tidy the lounge, put a load of washing on, deadhead the snapdragons which are flowering wonderfully in tubs, tidy the hall, check emails and answer any urgent ones and make a shopping list.

ang65t · 24/08/2018 18:02

30 minutes I can do the dishes, put on some washing prepare tea and probably make the beds if I didn't get time in the morning

amyhalliday1 · 24/08/2018 18:19

Get ready to go out x

towser44 · 24/08/2018 18:19

Sort the house finances out and save some money!

Cupcakeicecream · 24/08/2018 18:55

Over the summer holidays 30mins is allowed for study with my child. A few pages in the workbook, reciting flashcards and reading a storybook. That's all that needed to keep the learning flourishing over the summer as most kids forgot things by the time they go back to school is September.

phillie1 · 24/08/2018 19:01

I'd pour myself a glass of wine and run a hot bath!

devito92 · 24/08/2018 19:09

I can watch match of the day whilst skipping the boring parts

APJ1 · 24/08/2018 19:27

Clean the bathroom.

dadshere · 24/08/2018 19:50

30 minutes is perfect for going to the bathroom without being disturbed!

Rachdayan · 24/08/2018 20:21

Wash the dishes, empty the cat litter, clean the kitchen surfaces, empty the bin and put the kettle on. Thinks that the best I can do, but they know not to cross the kitchen threshold while i'm in cleaning mode.

itshappenedagain · 24/08/2018 20:36

30 minutes of child free time would mean having decompression time alone in my room. It would be bliss, but usually it's sorting household tasks.

liz1970 · 24/08/2018 20:55

Could clean the bathroom :)

mave · 24/08/2018 21:04
