Great family films are often passed down through generations and not only do the films themselves bring great memories but also the memorable characters. Coming together to watch a film as a family can be a great way to spend time with your loved ones. Prime Video would love to know what your family films are and why?

Here’s what Prime Video have to say: “The smash hit family film Paddington 2 has just been added to Prime Video, joining thousands of great movies and TV shows the whole family can enjoy. Paddington 2 sees the loveable bear settled into life with the Brown Family and starting to do some odd jobs so he can buy Aunt Lucie a birthday present. Before he can get it, the gift is stolen by a master thief and Paddington is the suspect.”

“To celebrate, we want to hear what classics you watch with your kids. Prime Video has many to enjoy including Yogi Bear, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Gruffalo, Casper, The Wizard of Oz, Nanny McPhee, E.T, Beethoven, Tom and Jerry, Pingu, Thomas and Friends, Scooby-Doo, Kung-Fu Panda and Shaun The Sheep.”

What do you enjoy watching with your whole family? Do you go for the classic such as ET and The Wizard of Oz or do you prefer the new films such as Kung Fu Panda? Or maybe your family has a staple film that you all watch on special occasions?

Whatever your favourite films are to watch as a family, share them on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw to win 1 of 3 Amazon Fire Kids Edition Tablets, made just for kids.

Thanks and good luck

My children love Star Wars, Harry Potter, all the Marvel universe movies, anything by Aardman, anything by Pixar, and anything with Pokemon in it Hmm
We tend to watch these on a Sunday afternoon all together with bags of popcorn, most are an enjoyable way to wind down and spend quiet time together. And it gives them plenty of fodder for imaginative play afterwards.
The films they like are age appropraite in the main, and not likely to induce nightmares as they do have vivid imaginations!

I adore watching Toy Story 1/2/3 with my DC - they are incredible films and they remind me of days spent snuggling on the sofa when they were toddlers. They like the Cars, Planes, Despicable Me / Minions, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Monsters franchise films and various Lego movies.

A current favourite is The Incredibles, as we are planning a holiday trip to the cinema to see the sequel.

I love ET, but surprisingly my DC didn't like it when we watched it a few months ago - I think it was quite dated from DC1's POV and DC2 was a bit scared of ET Sad. I'm hoping a second viewing might help - there are some films from the same era I'd like them to watch, but not sure how well they have aged.

With the summer holidays coming up, I'm certainly going to be using Prime Video to find films that the DC can watch to help with the cries of "I'm bored", so it is great to see some fantastic films listed as being available.

Now that the boys are older they tend to choose The Lord of the Rings or one of the Star Wars films over animated classics.

However DS3 (12yrs) does still enjoy the Despicable Me films, How to Train your Dragon, Shrek and the Ice Age films.

With there being quite a big age gap between DS3 and DSs 1 and 2 it’s difficult to find a film that pleases everyone but we always watch Muppets Christmas Carol together at Christmas time 🎄

Kung Fu Panda is our go to family film. No matter how many times we've watched it the kids are riveted!

Elf is our Christmas fav!

For family film night we LOVE The Incredibles, The Emporers New Groove and Fantastic Mr Fox

The Christmas classics are the best, like Miracle on 34th Street for the happiness, magic, and nostalgia

My two are terrible at watching films, they haven't bothered with typical classics yet and they loathe Disney too except the Cars movies. They tolerate Christmas stuff like Nativity and Polar Express and they did enjoy both Paddington movies though wouldn't opt to watch them again

So, um our three family favourites here are

Cars Movie
Cars 2
Cars 3

In no particular order, assuming I don't actually have to concentrate on the thing.

We love the Paddington films. They are definitely a favourite here. And now The Greatest Showman is a favourite too.

We also love The Sound of Music, Toy Story 2, Polar Express, Nativity, Eddie the Eagle.

We're all big fans of the Wallace and Grommit films. Ds2 went through a phase of watching The Wrong Trousers pretty much every day and has memorised much of the script.

We love Labyrinth. Incredibly 80s but somehow it rises above its limitations.

More recently we all enjoyed The Pirates in an Adventure With Scientists, and the Paddington films, and the DC loved Captain Underpants even though they’re teenagers because it reminded them of how much they loved the books when they were eight.

Wreck-it Ralph
Jumanji (the original of course!)
Despicable Me

We've seen them so many times but DS (and us) still love them.

I adore Zootropolis. Funny and sharp with a genuinely clever plot. It has everything - an intriguing crime mystery, sloths, a cameo from Shakira and even Idris Elba!

It also has a great message about not treating people with prejudice and following your dreams.

My DCs are 6 years apart so it can be tricky finding something they both will enjoy. But here are a few that both like.

Wreck-it Ralph
Big Hero 6
Toy Story
Mr Popper's Penguins

I also love watching all these films with them! not so much the likes of Alvin and the Chipmunks I try to get them to watch Elf but it's just me who loves it. Ds12 is a massive Harry Potter fan, as am I, so we enjoy watching them together. I would love to watch The Goonies with him but I am scared he won't love it like I do and I will be so disappointed! 😆

Oh and we just watched Paddington 2 on Prime a couple of days ago - what a great film it is.

Despicable me, Moana and hotel Transylvania are all hits here and can be watched over and over.

Matilda is a slightly more old school classic that she loves too.
