Clothes shopping can be both a pleasure and chore, depending on where you’re shopping and who you’re shopping for! Especially if you’re looking for something nice for a fussy DC. Ted Baker would love you to share your favourite piece from their kidswear range, as well as letting us know which qualities you look for when selecting clothing for you and your DC.

Here’s what Ted Baker has to say: “Ted’s new kidswear collection is designed for little scamps of all ages, from bouncing babies to older boys and girls developing a passion for fashion. With a focus on bright, beautiful colours and stylish prints, B by Ted Baker will ensure your little one is the best dressed in the playground, with practical finishing touches for easier adventures (and machine washable fabrics for easier cleaning!). Whether it’s the perfect party look or something stylish for every day, Ted has thought of an outfit for every occasion.”

Which items caught your eye and why? Check the website and post a link to your faves on the thread below.

We would also love to know what you look for when out clothes shopping for yourself or your DC? Maybe your main concern is for durability and ensuring that those jeans last through numerous knee-slides? Perhaps it’s price? Or finding an outfit that fits perfectly? Do you have a seasonal colour scheme that you stick to religiously, or are you much more interested in comfort?

Tell us which qualities you look for in the ideal outfit, as well as posting a link to your favourite item from the Ted Baker kidswear range and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Ted Baker voucher. Ted Baker will also be giving 3 MNers the chance to win their favourite kidswear item!

Thanks and good luck!

I'm another fan of the dungarees and polo shirt set - we actually had a Ted Baker set very like this last year (literally this time last year, Facebook gave me a memory today of him wearing it on holiday!

www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/Baby-Boy/DORAR-Cotton-polo-and-dungarees-set-Navy/p/151916-NAVY

We did also have some lovely TB all-in-one outfits with a bowtie/fake waistcoat. All lasted really well!

When buying clothes, it depends what they're for. His nursery clothes tend to be cheap as chips, as they're going to get covered in all sorts on a daily basis, but he has special clothes for visiting grandparents, etc. These still need to be hard-wearing and easy to wash though - kids' clothes that can't cope with repeated washing are useless!

I love the yellow top, it is one of our favorite color and it suits my little girls so much. The leggings is so cool and summery in this set. I think it is really nice for the hot days and fashionable.

Well my favourite item absolutely hands down would be this amazing yellow dress.
www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Girls/CALANTI-Cotton-dress-and-headband-set-Yellow/p/152153-YELLOW
It is beautiful. So colourful and bright but not in an overpowering way. Hoping there is an adult version of this dress!! Would love to match Dd in this. We often match and do the same colours for special occasions with dresses etc,. Not identical just similar. We both suit yellow really well to, which is important to me and Dd as we have different skin colour, so it's lovely to have things in common.

Price whilst important is not the top priority. I much prefer to pay a little bit more for a better fit. Dd is slim and leggy so some shops range suit shorter and more filled out children. It often takes me a few shops to find the correct clothing.

Quality of items is important to. How quickly will it fade, stain or loose glitter? Plus will it shrink at all or become misshapen? Bobble or wear out easily? Is the material or label scratchy or uncomfortable? Can I easily affix my child's name sticker on the clothing or footwear for nursery? How different is this brands sizing to other brands?

I think although lots of parents enjoy shopping without our children it's why we often take them. Each shop is unique im sizing and you don't want to traipse back and forth half a dozen times to get the correct size/item.

www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Boys/CLIFFD-Ice-lolly-print-cotton-shirt-White/p/151929-WHITE

I think my son would love this. I would live to get him wearing more shirts for summer and this has the balance of being smart, great quality yet something he'd like for the ice lolly pattern.

When choosing his clothes I go for comfort, durability then price. But also allow him to choose what he likes.

I also like the cotton blend jeans and all the shorts. Be interesting to see a bigger range.

Montydoo · 22/05/2018 07:33

My DS and I looked at the choices and he picked www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Boys/BOBBUIL-Cotton-ice-lolly-T-shirt-and-shorts-set-Assorted/p/151988-ASSORTED because 'it reminds me of summer and holidays' I love the design, and the fact the shorts don't have buttons is great, the pocket detail is lovely and useful for those 'treasures' which are found on the beach.

Sleepysausage · 22/05/2018 07:34

I much prefer primary colours and children's clothes that look like children's clothes for my dc. I do like the jogger and hoodie in navy on the site. www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Boys/PIPPN-Cotton-hoodie-and-joggers-set-Navy/p/151934-NAVY

TammySwansonTwo · 22/05/2018 08:02

Love the flamingo print short rompers for my twins, I’d buy one of each but this one is my favourite www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/Baby-Boy/MRMAKE-Cotton-polo-romper-Turquoise/p/151921-TURQUOISE

I buy a lot of Scandinavian clothes for my twins as most high street stuff for boys is so dull, in terms of colours and prints. I love short rompers and jersey dungarees for the summer as they’re so cool and practical. Even better if I can get the same style in coordinating colours or prints for each of them, much prefer it to matching clothes.

i love this

http://www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/Older-Girls/CHARETA-One-shoulder-jumpsuit-Navy/p/151859-NAVY?cmpid=affcpaaawin78888-0-0-uk-u-0-0-textlink-0-0-0-0&utmmsource=aff&utmmedium=cpa&utmmcampaign=awin&utmcontent=78888-0-0-uk-u-0-0-textlink-0-0-0-0

my daughters are very athletic and will cartwheel everywhere, this is dressy but comfortable and should allow them to do handstand to their hearts content. Also i love the detail, the pattern - it's dressed up but not sexualised which gets a huge thumbs up from me. Teaches kids to dress classy not trashy

We were bought a Teb Baker onesie for our boy when he was born and it's my favourite. It's so soft and fits so well. The design is bright and playful and it suits him (see picture). These are the best qualities in baby clothes you can ask for.

I'm in love with this little outfit. It would be perfect for the summer weather and the design is so eye catching and different he will definitely stand out!

DD would be a big fan of this. Floral and summery, which is her style.

DuchyDuke · 22/05/2018 11:40

I loved this little set. The colours and design are just perfect for a little one.

www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/Baby-Boy/DORAR-Cotton-polo-and-dungarees-set-Navy/p/151916-NAVY

I prefer good quality and durable materials for children’s wear. My main concern is that the girls clothing at Ted Baker doesn’t last as long as the boys. I presume it is on account of the lesser quality materials used (a lot of Polyester and Nylon) but it has put me off buying TB for my neices.

ShesSoUnusual · 22/05/2018 11:41

Oops - posted too soon. Qualities I look for in clothing are comfort, style, durability and ease to maintain. I can't be bothered with dry clean only or handwash items.

HowsAnnie25 · 22/05/2018 13:56

My daughter got a beautiful Ted Baker dress for Christmas and it looks stunning on her!
For my children I do look at price but also interesting patterns and designs, and the fit. Both my younger children are very narrow waisted so I need something that doesn't swamp them.
This is my favourite for my 8 year old daughter - it is really stunning! www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/Older-Girls/CHARETA-One-shoulder-jumpsuit-Navy/p/151859-NAVY

NinjaNiffler · 22/05/2018 15:30

I love the Ted Baker prints, and when DD was a baby she has several of the beautiful dresses.

Now she is a very rough and tumble 3 year old, dresses tend to get in her way! This playsuit would be a perfect compromise of the beautiful print combined with the practicality DD needs.

When shopping for DD, my priorities would be trying to balance price, practicality and prettiness of the outfit!!

Peoniesandcats · 22/05/2018 18:35

For me it's all about comfort and soft materials!

I love this little baby girl's dress and wish there was an adult sized one for me too! www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/Baby-Girl/LARIZA-Skater-dress-White/p/151841-WHITE

Perfect for wedding season :)

Usually go for something like leggings and t shirt as my little one is learning to crawl, but this would be lovely for a special occasion.

www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Girls/CHERYLE-Cotton-lace-detail-prom-dress-White/p/151852-WHITE

Love this, it’s so simple and pretty and would do for all manner of events through the summer, really easy to make it look different each wear with accessories etc.

I look for clothes that will last DD for a while, I try to get things that will look good in a larger size, so lightly oversized but then still look good as she grows in to it. She tends to have growth spurts as soon as I’ve bought her clothes that fit!

Also the fact that this is 100% cotton would be great as she has sensitive skin, so wouldn’t be irritated.

I have been lucky enough to have Ted Baker hand me downs for DD from a friend and they are always beautifully made and great quality, most have been passed on again since she has outgrown them.

Mel0Dram4 · 23/05/2018 01:25

I have two little boys and I love this romper for my littlest one www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/Baby-Boy/TUMBAL-Cotton-romper-Orange/p/151919-ORANGE I love unusual prints and colours other than the usual khami/blue/muddy green etc boys get stuck with.
When shopping price is obviously important, but comfort is vital. For the youngest no rough materials etc Eric and for the toddle, hard wearing knees/cuffs and clothes he can put on and off easily.
As I mentioned I also love unusual prints and animals, as well as pinks, corals and yellow for boys. So that romper really did impress me. Well done on the new collection!

Visioncroquet · 23/05/2018 11:33

I like clothes that are inexpensive, as my kids grow out of stuff really quick anyways. I hate gender steriotypical clothes, like boys tops with 'boys will be boys ' on or girlie tops with 'pretty' slogans.

I like these:

www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Boys/BESTE-Belted-cotton-chinos-Light-Grey/p/151954-LT-GREY?cmpid=aff_cpa_awin_78888-0-0-uk-u-0-0-textlink-0-0-0-0&utm_source=aff&utm_medium=cpa&utm_campaign=awin&utm_content=78888-0-0-uk-u-0-0-textlink-0-0-0-0

StarkintheSouth · 23/05/2018 11:35

I have a 19 mo DD and for me, I love to dress her in bright, funky clothes that are feminine but not sickly sweet/twee. Comfort is key - my girl likes to move! So I love this little ensemble; www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Baby/MOLINIA-Cotton-top-and-leggings-set-Yellow/p/151862-YELLOW

It's pretty and practical and I know white isn't usually a good choice for toddlers but in this warm weather light colours are preferable. And the little bows, the modern floral pattern... it's fresh and sweet without being twee. Perfect.

www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/Baby-Boy/MRMAKE-Cotton-polo-romper-Turquoise/p/151921-TURQUOISE

The above link is my favourite outfit because the colours and design are so different to anything else I've seen for baby boys on the high street, online or in the supermarkets. I love that it has a nod to Ted Baker's trademark floral patterns too.
The main things I want from kids clothes are for them to be comfy, stylish and easy to wash. We do a load a day at least so I dont gave time to do seperate hand washing or cold washes. Price is also important but I'm willing to spend a bit more for on 'statement' items so that the kids don't end up in sleepsuits, leggings and t- shirts everyday.

DoubleLottchen · 23/05/2018 16:06

To be honest, I'm not that keen on any of the older girls' clothes. It all seems a bit floral and too on trend, whereas I prefer more muted classics.

I love this polo romper though, for my little nephew www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/Baby-Boy/SHUNSHI-Striped-cotton-romper-Assorted/p/151914-ASSORTED

I look for good quality, classic designs in natural fibres, as I like to pass clothes down. If they are poor quality or too trendy then they aren't fit to wear or look outdated too quickly. I will happily pay more for what I am looking for, I don't like disposable fashion.
