Clothes shopping can be both a pleasure and chore, depending on where you’re shopping and who you’re shopping for! Especially if you’re looking for something nice for a fussy DC. Ted Baker would love you to share your favourite piece from their kidswear range, as well as letting us know which qualities you look for when selecting clothing for you and your DC.

Here’s what Ted Baker has to say: “Ted’s new kidswear collection is designed for little scamps of all ages, from bouncing babies to older boys and girls developing a passion for fashion. With a focus on bright, beautiful colours and stylish prints, B by Ted Baker will ensure your little one is the best dressed in the playground, with practical finishing touches for easier adventures (and machine washable fabrics for easier cleaning!). Whether it’s the perfect party look or something stylish for every day, Ted has thought of an outfit for every occasion.”

Which items caught your eye and why? Check the website and post a link to your faves on the thread below.

We would also love to know what you look for when out clothes shopping for yourself or your DC? Maybe your main concern is for durability and ensuring that those jeans last through numerous knee-slides? Perhaps it’s price? Or finding an outfit that fits perfectly? Do you have a seasonal colour scheme that you stick to religiously, or are you much more interested in comfort?

Tell us which qualities you look for in the ideal outfit, as well as posting a link to your favourite item from the Ted Baker kidswear range and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Ted Baker voucher. Ted Baker will also be giving 3 MNers the chance to win their favourite kidswear item!

Thanks and good luck!

I generally go with what they like wearing. The girls' clothes are too girly for DD, who's going through a tomboy phase, but DS2 loves denim shorts at the moment.

www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Boys/GOOFIE-Stretch-cotton-denim-shorts-Dark-Blue/p/151949-DK-BLUE

OhHolyFuck · 17/05/2018 21:18

These Goofie shorts are my favourite- would look good on ds1

I look for both practical and comfy - no point having something dry clean only because I'll never get round to it or something kids don't like to wear because it itches or doesn't sit right and they have go keep tugging it for example
Also when buying for boys, I look for stuff in colour and nice designs - sick of skulls and sludge khaki brown

mushyhead · 17/05/2018 21:39

I like this www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Boys/BOBBUIL-Cotton-ice-lolly-T-shirt-and-shorts-set-Assorted/p/151988-ASSORTED

Clothes for my DS are usually what's most practical. He is always playing football or riding his bike. I am disappointed that most boys clothes are dark, especially for older boys.

whereareyousleep · 17/05/2018 21:42

I love this for my 9 week old ds

www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/Baby-Boy/TUMBAL-Cotton-romper-Orange/p/151919-ORANGE

Boys clothes are often plan and boring with dull colours I like him in brighter clothes that are often hard to find. This would be ideal to wear over summer to keep cool and look great

Love this dress for DD8, fab for a summer wedding. We often buy ted baker clothing as we love the quality and beautiful prints.

This is lovely - www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/Older-Girls/CHARETA-One-shoulder-jumpsuit-Navy/p/151859-NAVY

Great for a pre-teen, who like to look nice but isn't keen on dresses anymore.

I look for comfort and practicality when choosing clothes. White is often a no go! I don't like clothes which appear to have been designed for older teens, but are available in younger sizes and often seem inappropriate for that age range.

mimarbia · 17/05/2018 22:14

I love this little ice lolly shirt for my DS who is nearly three

We love our holidays and this would look fantastic teamed with these smart shorts when we go out to eat in the evenings

This polo shirt 😍 my 2.5yo DS looks so unbelievably cute in a polo shirt!!

Charliejr16 · 17/05/2018 22:19

I like to look for good quality clothes in bright colours, I like children to dress like children so very age appropriate. I like items that are easy to wash and preferably easy/non iron!

EsmeeMerlin · 17/05/2018 22:54

I love this outfit-perfect for the summer
www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Boys/BOBBUIL-Cotton-ice-lolly-T-shirt-and-shorts-set-Assorted/p/151988-ASSORTED

When I shop for my two boys they need to be comfortable, durable and look good. I also love adjustable waists as my eldest is tall with a small waist.

www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Baby/LANTIZA-Cotton-pleated-top-and-leggings-set-Light-Pink/p/151861-LT-PINK
Gorgeous outfit, so practical and versatile! I can just imagine 14 month old having fun and looking super cute in Lantiza! Plenty of room to move around with those practical pleats!

GriseldaChop · 18/05/2018 06:44

There are some gorgeous clothes on the website, I really like this www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Boys/PIPPN-Cotton-hoodie-and-joggers-set-Navy/p/151934-NAVY as not only is it a nice outfit, you can wear the jacket separately with other things.
When shopping for clothes I look for well made, adjustable fitting items which will last and be smart but still comfortable.

www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Baby/LEZINA-Printed-cotton-sleepsuit-White/p/151853-WHITE

These sleepsuits are gorgeous and lovely quality- we received one as a gift when my daughter was born and it was one of my favourite things to put her in!

When it comes to buying clothes I tend to look for styles that I like regardless of price- she has a mix of clothes ranging from budget brands to more expensive.

For my toddler son however I wouldn't bother spending lots on but they need to be durable and wash well.

www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Boys/CLIFFD-Ice-lolly-print-cotton-shirt-White/p/151929-WHITE

My DS would look so smart in this shirt, and it would be great for a holiday or special occasion.

fizzytonicplease · 18/05/2018 07:33

Oops i pressed too soon! www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Boys/CLIFFD-Ice-lolly-print-cotton-shirt-White/p/151929-WHITE

My DS would look so smart in this, ot would be perfect for holiday or a special occasion.
I always try to look for clothing that i can get a few different wears out of, so things i can dress up or down and will go with lots of different things. Easy to iron, and nice fabric that doesnt feel restricted is a winner too.

asuwere · 18/05/2018 09:33

I like to buy clothes that are practical for playing in, bright colours make it easier to spot children when out.

I was really disappointed in the older girl's collection - nothing really practical for everyday playing!
Best I found was this shirt for DS, although is still a little dark, would be nicer if brighter.

Ashhead24 · 18/05/2018 09:37

I really like this:

www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Boys/PIPPN-Cotton-hoodie-and-joggers-set-Navy/p/151934-NAVY

Looks like it would be comfy but still look nice on. Sometimes it can be a struggle to get nice looking joggers and DS loves them.

I do tend mostly to look for nice looking things and then check the price. I mostly buy non supermarket clothes in the sales as it's too expensive to justify otherwise when they go through clothes so quickly.

boomboom12 · 18/05/2018 10:30

I have boys & the lack of colour options on the high street really frustrates me so this romper would be my choice, it’s so cool.

www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/Baby-Boy/MRMAKE-Cotton-polo-romper-Turquoise/p/151921-TURQUOISE

I look for easy shapes in nice quality fabrics with bright prints. I don’t mind paying more if it’s something that can be passed down & the print isn’t too “on trend. I don’t like anything too fussy or a pain to get on or off.

Isit7yet · 18/05/2018 11:27

My baby girl would look great in this -www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Baby/MINNIY-Cotton-pleated-dress-and-headband-set-Yellow/p/151843-YELLOW. She has always looked good in bold colours as it matches her bold personality! When shopping for her clothes I always look for nice quality fabric that is soft to touch. And since she has been born I have realised how important it is to be able to get it on and off easily!

ThenBellaDidSomethingVeryKind · 18/05/2018 12:59

This is my favourite. My DD is quite slight (and short) for her age, so we sometimes struggle to find things that fit, but are also trendy instead of babyish. Things that wash well are also essential - if they don’t need ironing, even better! I like the idea of a jumpsuit as she can run around and move more freely than in a dress.

CMOTDibbler · 18/05/2018 13:28

Unfortunatly, there's not much choice for older boys which is a pity as it's very hard to get nice clothes for them when they are in the difficult 'too tall for childrenswear, too skinny for mens/youth' stage. But I love the colour of these shorts, and ds loves a pair of nice shorts. As do I as he can wear them till they look like hot pants rather than having embarrassing gaps between trouser and shoe

WhereDoAllThePokemonGo · 18/05/2018 13:32

I love the chinos as they look stylish and comfy, which is what I look for in an outfit. My only concern is that they should be easy to clean as my one year old's favourite activity is rolling around in grass! I just adore this little girl's summer party frock with cut out shoulder detail and flowers and butterflies www.tedbaker.com/uk/Kids/All-Girls/CASSLYN-Cotton-cold-shoulder-dress-White/p/151849-WHITE

My absolute favourite brand is Ted Baker, I buy it for myself, my kids, and any gifts too!

I would choose these for my girls, I look for comfortable and really pretty things for them, it always lasts us ages too!
