Doing the laundry can be a messy task - whether that’s getting rid of your children’s unexplained stains or dealing with the piles and piles of clean clothes when you’re done. Who would blame you for dreaming about the kind of space that could make it all seem a bit more manageable. With that in mind, Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about what would be in your dream laundry room.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “Did you know that the average mother spends 5 months of her life doing laundry? That’s a lot of pulling tissues out of pockets, separating loads and pairing socks! Imagine that you had your own separate laundry room. What would you want to make your life easier and nicer to spend time in?”

Would you have a separate washer and dryer? Or shelves for each family member’s clothes? Perhaps you’d have a fold down ironing board? Maybe you’d have everything - from appliances to airers - hidden away in cupboards?

Whatever would be in your dream laundry room, share it below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

i would love a bit more space i have a small utility corner but I have to work hard to keep it tidy as there not enough storage space. I would have large glass sliding doors for a fresh airy space lots of storage space and cupboards that I cant lose anything I would have a drying cupboard for rainy days, my friend has one and its great a lot less messy than a clothes horse I would also have a beautiful old soaking sink but every thing else would be modern and tidy.

ursuslemonade · 16/03/2018 18:15

Would love a downstairs laundry room with a door to the garden.
It would be large, lots of shelves and a counter and wall mounted drying racks on the wall and large windows. Enough space for all cleaning equipment, hoover etc.

A room with someone in it to do the laundry for me! Failing that, a room with everything that i need to complete the task, washing machine, dryer and ironing board so i can get it all done in one place

The Laundry Fairy!

IrritableBitchSyndrome · 16/03/2018 21:35

Staff to deal with the laundry :)

dianabose · 16/03/2018 23:46

a mini spa where i can take a comfy break

puglife · 17/03/2018 06:34

My laundry room would have space. Lots of space! Along with good storage for all the washed clothes. An ironing board. A rail to hang clothes when out of the dryer. Oh, and it would be dog free and kept so clean!

Sierra259 · 17/03/2018 09:48

I would definitely have a separate washer and dryer. A sink for handwashing or leaving things in soak. Shelf space for a basket for each member of the family. A big enough cupboard to store the massive boxes of washing powder and bottles.of detergent from Costco! Somewhere to store pegs and the ironing board, though I probably wouldn't want to iron in there as I like watching TV while I do that Smile

Maria1982 · 17/03/2018 10:11

Room for the ironing board to be up permanently. A pulley maid overhead to dry clothes, big enough to take all our clothes.

Counter space to sort stuff out, and a couple of cupboards to keep washing powder etc in. A sink for soaking / hand washing delicates.

This would be bliss! Just having the washing machine out of the kitchen is a bonus (less noise).

mishknight · 17/03/2018 11:13

A person to do all the laundry would be an absolute dream

JulesJules · 17/03/2018 14:00

Someone to do the laundry

kristianjsnooks · 17/03/2018 14:52

Advanced machines with one button - ON/OFF or somebody to actually do the laundry for me!

joggingrunning · 17/03/2018 16:36

I would have: a couple of washing baskets, a washing machine, a tumble dryer, an iron and an ironing board. Bascially just the essentials.

peanutbutter310 · 17/03/2018 18:33

Room to have the ironing board and a clothes airer up permanently. And a sink so I have a dedicated space for hand washing, etc.

FleurDelacoeur · 17/03/2018 19:02

A small and efficient person to do it all for me?

Seriously though, a large capacity machine which is energy efficient too. Lots of space. One of those steamer machines for the things I really can't get away with not ironing.

LuckyLuckyWoman · 17/03/2018 20:29

A room big enough for a washer, dryer, a sink and storage for detergent, softener etc, also room for an airer and somewhere to hang those drip dry items

ChiaraRimini · 17/03/2018 20:30

I can't believe I am sad enough to comment on this BUT an ideal laundry room would also include an airing cupboard which would have built in lines/racks for drying wet clothes, higher shelves to storing dry linen and a step to reach the high shelves. All of this would be hidden away when the cupboard door was closed, so no more wet clothes drying on radiators around the house or drying racks with same. This would be a great innovation.

ny20005 · 17/03/2018 21:51

My ideal laundry room would have separate washer & dryer, sink for soaking & stain removal, drying rail for delicates

Pigeon holes with a laundry basket for each person & one for the dogs towels

Space for ironing board & iron & hanging rail to hang it all on

My best ever wish would be a laundry chute from each room into the laundry room 😊

pfcpompeysarah · 17/03/2018 22:25

Someone else to do it for me!!! In all seriousness, it would have a washing machine, tumble dryer, sink and units for storage/hanging clothes.

grannybiker · 17/03/2018 23:07

It would definitely have room for an ironing robot, not that many of our clothes need it- a deliberate choice when purchasing ;)

thismeansnothing · 17/03/2018 23:08

My perfect laundry room. Well.

Separate washer dryer is a must. Each must be at least 8kg capacity.

Room to have a maiden up for stuff I can't tumble. Oooo or even an inside washing line.

A worksurface over the washer and dryer so I have room to fold clean stuff.

Not keen on shelves (why bring the walls in) but maybe a nice wheelie caddy to store my detergent/softner/pegs etc)

Also a plug socket somewhere so dh can plug the iron into do his shirts (I don't iron)

littleme96 · 18/03/2018 03:35

Mine would have a washing machine and a tumble dryer, plus airers permanently in situ and a dehumidifier to help everything dry more quickly when using the airers. All detergents would live in there plus stain removers and colour catchers.

It would have a worktop which had a laundry basket for each family member on it into which clean, dry clothes would be decanted ready for each individual to put their own things away.

Ah how lovely to not have clothes drying all over the house - shame it's not real!

OutComeTheWolves · 18/03/2018 07:24

It's be huge with an overhead drying rack, bench space, shelves, a sink and a separate washing machine and tumble dryer.

It would also have one of those boards to keep spare socks until their partner turns up.

NeverTwerkNaked · 18/03/2018 07:51

One of those chutes so you chuck the clothes in upstairs and they land in a laundry basket by the washing machine.
One of those machines that does the ironing for you!

otter099008 · 18/03/2018 09:50

A washer and a condenser tumble dryer, both with a huge capacity like 12kg! I'd also love cupboards filled with detergent and fabric softener so that I have a stockpile, and I'd love a clothes steamer! A built-in ironing board with a steam iron would be amazing too.
