The nights are drawing in, the kids are (hopefully) settled back at school and many people are thinking about a change of job.

If education, experience, salary, childcare was no concern, we’d love to know what your perfect job would be. Go on to Mumsnet Jobs and tell us which of the listed jobs you'd go for.

How about being CDIO Finance Director in the Civil Service? Or being the Deputy Director for Counter-Terrorism Strategy in the Home Office? Or even a Senior Test Engineer for a medical device manufacturer or how about a Fashion Editorial Assistant?

If none appeal, tell us your brief job description (and who with) that would get you dusting off your CV and making that application?

If you’re interested in a new job sign up for Mumsnet Jobs alerts here and do follow them on Twitter @mumsnetjobs.
Alternatively, if you’re an employer and want to find that perfect candidate, then list your job vacancies here!.

Thanks

Any bastard job at this point .. but honestly I’d want to be a news anchor ( impossible due to accent) or a headline journalist or food critic Grin

LemonysSnicket · 19/10/2017 12:18

Oh shit should’ve RTFT

Pinky333777 · 19/10/2017 14:14

Not really a job but after 20 years of looking after other people's children, now I'm finally wonderfully expecting one of my own I'd LOVE to be a stay at home mum GrinGrinGrin
I'd just need a lottery win to fund it lol.

I'd like to look into fostering children once my own is of an age to understand and empathise.
I think that's my dream 'job'.

My dream job has always been to be a weather presenter. I've wanted to do this since I was a teenager, but was told that my physics wasn't good enough to be a meteorologist, which apparently you have to be for the BBC.

yumchoc · 19/10/2017 22:39

Be paid to read books

Be a CBT therapist

MoreProseccoNow · 20/10/2017 11:10

I loved the Digital Transformation Manager Agile bear Edinburgh - totally unqualified for it not world love the £450 daily rate! Grin

On a more serious note, I hadn’t been aware that MN jobs existed - it’s good to know it’s out there, with such a diversity of jobs locally.

I’d love flexible working - to be able to work from home, change hours over school holidays etc. But in the NHS that’s not even a remote possibility.

Ideally, I’d be a secret exotic holiday tester - wouldn’t that be amazing.

I would like to be able to indulge in crafting all day or whenever I wanted - teach others, learn new stuff, design products, create samples. Don't want to work in retail though. I would also like to advise others of commercialising their skills. I am a crafter with an MBA :-)

RB68 · 20/10/2017 14:16

Should also say and earn a reasonable salary for this

FaithEverPresent · 21/10/2017 07:58

I like the idea of busing a Children’s writer, a midwife, or being able to earn an income from my favourite hobby, crochet.’

But, if I’m totally honest, my dream job has always been to be the voice of a Disney Princess!

Doobydoo · 21/10/2017 20:38

Historian or Librarian. I would focus on 14th to 19th century.Rather broad I know! I also like the idea of researching 'magic' through the ages.I am a nurse. I sometines dream of working in the basement(I am sure there is one)of the British Library.......where I wouldn't have to talk or listen to many people!

rayman15 · 21/10/2017 21:49

My dream job would be a mattress tester so I could sleep all day. Failing that a shoe tester so I’d get to wear fabulous shoes for free instead of paying a fortune to wear them

Mrspitt3 · 22/10/2017 02:32

Being paid to throw eggs at Donald twatty trump or reviewing the school curriculum and stripping out the crap the kids are never going to need/know in adult life and introduce more life skills lessons like learning to manage a budget and what a mortgage is/how they work. I would ensure kids at school are taught the skills actually needed on a CV.

I wish I had pursued my desire to be a GP. At some point I will look into being a physicians assistant.

Cobblersandhogwash · 23/10/2017 16:11

I wish I’d gone into construction as a project manager.

LinaBo · 23/10/2017 21:57

I'd love to go back to architecture. Maybe one day...

FrenchieMum2Be · 23/10/2017 22:32

fos6mo3 · 24/10/2017 21:35

Foster carer...
Mr present job !

20ikeameatballs · 25/10/2017 18:17

I'd run a smallholding that adopted and rescued farm animals and brought people in to work with and care for them who wouldn't usually get the chance. It has been my dream for a long time!

FutureDays · 25/10/2017 18:26

Working for a music/ gig promoter or for a festival company

hmmwhatatodo · 26/10/2017 09:17

I’d go for the counter terrorism job though when I looked at the ad there was very little detail. Maybe anyone really to apply for such jobs already knows exactly what they are getting into so no need for more specs? Anyway, in an ideal world I’d quite fancy getting into anti slavery ( though I read a recent news article that suggested police and other agencies aren’t the asking it all as seriously as they should be).

Failing that I’d be a cake maker/decorator to the rich and famous.

hmmwhatatodo · 26/10/2017 09:20

By the way, is the prize for this winning your dream job😂?

Caillou · 26/10/2017 15:56

I would love a job that can be done anywhere in the world with just Internet access :)
