The nights are drawing in, the kids are (hopefully) settled back at school and many people are thinking about a change of job.

If education, experience, salary, childcare was no concern, we’d love to know what your perfect job would be. Go on to Mumsnet Jobs and tell us which of the listed jobs you'd go for.

How about being CDIO Finance Director in the Civil Service? Or being the Deputy Director for Counter-Terrorism Strategy in the Home Office? Or even a Senior Test Engineer for a medical device manufacturer or how about a Fashion Editorial Assistant?

If none appeal, tell us your brief job description (and who with) that would get you dusting off your CV and making that application?

If you’re interested in a new job sign up for Mumsnet Jobs alerts here and do follow them on Twitter @mumsnetjobs.
Alternatively, if you’re an employer and want to find that perfect candidate, then list your job vacancies here!.

Thanks

I am not sure this will be my dream job because I never done it. I want to care for the elderly, I did that during my school work experience only for 3 weeks, I still remember how much I enjoyed it.

Unfortunately the starter pay is so low it is just not enough to cover the childcare.

nellyboo2 · 16/10/2017 07:59

Something at Cadbury’s! Or Johnny Depp’s PA... yes, I can see the eye rolls; but I find him really interesting and attractive and think it’d be a fun yet challenging job.

I would love to spend my days making arts and crafts, working from home, with a business partner.

I just need someone to do the sales, accounts and marketing side of it as that is what puts me off doing it now.

FizzySmiles · 16/10/2017 13:05

I'd love to be a midwife, youth work or work within a special needs school.

If only I had support with childcare/money to train - for now I'll go back to working in a nursery.

I used to be a deputy manager in an children's club before children/moving and now I'm right back down to the bottom, id love to say it's less stressful/less work but I'd definitely be lying 😣

I'd like to be involved in a disaster planning role. I have a near encyclopedic knowledge of disaster movies and enthusiasm for strategy games like SIM city. Unfortunately, I think that these talents are more likely to qualify me as a teenage boy

I sometimes wish I'd trained as a dancer as it's something I really enjoy, but that I'm not particularly good at. I think it would be really rewarding to teach children with behaviour issues to dance so they have a positive outlet for their emotions.

i would be a successful artist, holding exhibitions in the uk and internationally.
I would be picked up by a brand (after them finding me with a brilliant instgram following) and work with them on interior design/life style ranges. I would do a little bit of teaching and be seen as a expert in my field.

tillymint21 · 16/10/2017 17:41

I've always wanted to be a midwife.

Pastorkidneys · 16/10/2017 20:44

Have been rattling around lately thinking what can I do? SAHM for 13 years, need a job for my sanity, but what she asks? Am a bit of a Marie Kondo, like to organise things and people, wondering if I could sort out hoarders houses?

purplepigs · 16/10/2017 22:00

My ideal job would be for my partner and I to run a coffee shop with home cakes, pastries and biscuits somewhere on the coast.

It would be bliss, we love the coast and we love coffee!!!!

Ideally we wouldn’t want to live to far from the coffee shop - we could walk to work with the dogs!!!

doleritedinosaur · 16/10/2017 22:56

My dream job would to be a geology curator within a museum, doing research, making displays and lectures to the public.
I have volunteered in a museum's geology department and it was perfect, its like Hogwarts behind the scenes.

I have a degree in geology but don't see me ever doing this dream sadly.

ELIXZATHAI · 17/10/2017 00:18

Only recently I realised my dream job would be to be an interior designer. My boyfriend and I are looking for a new flat at the moment and I spend hours looking at homeward and browsing Pinterest for inspiration. I also wish I had the skills of an artist and could be an architect

danson16 · 17/10/2017 08:49

I would love to be an event planner

SuzCG · 17/10/2017 11:01

I'd be a midwife - what a huge privilege it would be to share that miraculous moment, day in and day out. For me, that really would be the best job in the world! Doesn't quite fit in with kids etc what with those unsociable hours...

happyhi1 · 17/10/2017 12:29

nigelsbigface · 17/10/2017 18:02

Journalist in the music press (if it were still the thing it once was).
Or counsellor for women who had suffered domestic violence-I’ve just enrolled on a course to help me, eventually, be just that!

boringbertha · 17/10/2017 21:37

The more I sit behind my desk in an open plan office pushing paper about the more I hanker for the great outdoors anda job as a gardener or countryside ranger.

RealSLOAH · 18/10/2017 10:20

I'd like to be a Social Media Consultant or Content Manager. Due to current circumstances, I'd also like to work remotely (from home) but be able to attend meetings via Google Hangouts or FaceTime so I could still see people.

I run my own blog, worked in Media before, have an IT background, and years of Social Media experience from running Facebook support groups.

LittlePea18 · 18/10/2017 11:21

I’d love to be a genealogist!

I love researching and finding out about people lives, find links and bringing people together!

Would be such a rewarding job!

MyGastIsFlabbered · 18/10/2017 13:49

Sir David Attenborough's assistant.

Or a vet.

But as a 43 year old single mum I don't think either of those is too likely.

Firefries · 18/10/2017 15:01

Helping people in some capacity. I do this already but it would be ideal to be paid well. It's sad that jobs designed to help people are often underpaid - unless you're a surgeon. Probably Id retrain as a teacher or or social worker. I still might do this, although I think both roles could be paid better.

mumsbe · 18/10/2017 15:25

My dream job would be a art therapist. Using a talent I enjoy to help other people would be job satisfaction.

TimandGinger · 18/10/2017 19:46

I'd like to work in medicine. Unfortunately I was no use at science subjects at school so that was a non-starter! I can see it's very stressful, but I think it must be rewarding too. I've worked in big faceless organisations - never ever again.

WonderLime · 18/10/2017 20:04

I would love to be a surgeon, but I don't have steady enough hands for it.

Dauphinoise · 19/10/2017 11:31

I'd love to retrain in something creative and handmake my own items to sell, and run my own little business. Maybe something like wedding/events decor and stationary.

I worked in admin since leaving school until I had a child 5 yrs ago and became a SAHM. However I'd like to return to work now but the 5 yr gap and low self confidence in my abilities has me terrified. I also really got nothing personally fulfilling from admin work but it's the only experience I have.

Retraining in a creative career would be a dream for me.
