The nights are drawing in, the kids are (hopefully) settled back at school and many people are thinking about a change of job.

If education, experience, salary, childcare was no concern, we’d love to know what your perfect job would be. Go on to Mumsnet Jobs and tell us which of the listed jobs you'd go for.

How about being CDIO Finance Director in the Civil Service? Or being the Deputy Director for Counter-Terrorism Strategy in the Home Office? Or even a Senior Test Engineer for a medical device manufacturer or how about a Fashion Editorial Assistant?

If none appeal, tell us your brief job description (and who with) that would get you dusting off your CV and making that application?

If you’re interested in a new job sign up for Mumsnet Jobs alerts here and do follow them on Twitter @mumsnetjobs.
Alternatively, if you’re an employer and want to find that perfect candidate, then list your job vacancies here!.

Thanks

I work in events so a more senior role would be good.

Ideally I'd like to do something that helps people & is worthwhile - nurse, teaching assistant, mental health worker. A role that would make a difference to someone's life.

If I could have any job in the world I'd be a singer Smile

LadyGooGaa · 13/10/2017 13:07

A Doctor.... I would absolutely LOVE to be a Doctor. Or a paramedic. Either. Unfortunately I pi$$ed around too much during 6th form and failed all my my A'levels so did a humanities course in some crappy Poly.
Ach if only I could be 16 again..

ReinettePompadour · 13/10/2017 16:55

I'd love to be out in the countryside and work mainly with reintroducing endangered species back into our environment. I'd especially love to reintroduce a number of raptors as theyre my personal passion and otters, I love otters. Grin

Work in a library or bookshop preferably the music section!

onemorecakeplease · 13/10/2017 18:03

I'd love to be a detective. I don't want to be a beat cop tho first and have to work my way up!
Just want to go in a solve crimes. I'm very nosy and love working things out so I know I'd be very good at it! 😂
I don't think I would be very good at interviewing suspects tho, I would just shout come on I know you did it, admit it damn it!

onemorecakeplease · 13/10/2017 18:05

Oh I'd also like to work 9.30-3 as well like I currently do. And have all the school holidays off.
No nights or evenings! I'm sure criminals could be persuaded to behave outside those times?!

Byrdie · 13/10/2017 19:40

I'd like to be something where you get to come up with lots of ideas and solve problems. It would be something to do with dogs and kids... maybe horses too. It would be a job where i get to eat chocolate and drink coffee... there would be an amazing canteen and we'd only travel first class. Open to offers!!!

chipscheeseandcurrysauce · 13/10/2017 19:49

A play specialist in a children’s hospital.

NextIndia · 13/10/2017 21:04

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 13/10/2017 21:20

I'd be a really good copy editor...

HerRoyalFattyness · 13/10/2017 23:31

I'm lucky that I'm already doing my dream job.
I'm a nursery nurse and I love it.

I'd also love to be an editor and spend my life reading books and pointing out mistakes. Grin

sandgrown · 14/10/2017 06:59

A singer in a musical.

flamingnoravera · 14/10/2017 12:39

Police officer in mounted section.

Ren1974 · 14/10/2017 18:35

Well I have been a secretary for 25 years but this year qualified for my dream job, a Teaching Assistant. I am however meeting barriers in that I have not got "experience" as a Teaching Assistant so I am simply waiting for a school to take a chance with me!

CakesRUs · 15/10/2017 00:44

A pumpkin patch.

PinkPanther27 · 15/10/2017 07:47

Always wanted to be an FBI Profiler. Failing that, a Forensic Psychiatrist.

Gammeldragz · 15/10/2017 10:07

Nurse Practitioner in minor injuries or general practice. Autonomy and clinical skills. Perfect!

alletik · 15/10/2017 10:36

I'm a teacher, and am super organised. I think my ideal job would be some kind of PA or organisational role. Perhaps a project manager. Unfortunately I can't afford the drop in salary to start over again.

LazyArseAvocado · 15/10/2017 12:32

Credit risk analyst. Or anything involving a lot of figures and data to analyse. I love spreadsheets and have a maths degree! Grin

1Vandal · 15/10/2017 12:54

I would love to be an editor for fantasy novels

Humphreyhippo · 15/10/2017 18:47

I would design, open and run a residential centre for adults with autism, like the Lantern in Ringwood, where residents can live, work and socialise. It would be safe and personalised, but also linked to the local community. Work would be a real contribution to the economy, not just tokenist, and there would be an emphasis on the residents' spiritual, emotional and cultural lives as well as all the functional stuff.

Uumellmahaye · 15/10/2017 18:48

Audiologist

Jayfee · 15/10/2017 19:19

The btec assessor for art and design please!!

Doreah · 15/10/2017 19:58

I would love to run my own craft business, making cards, homemade gifts, smellies etc. I love being creative and making pretty things, even upcycling.
Or an author, I have so many ideas for stories but getting them down on paper / computer screen elludes me.

Shockers · 15/10/2017 20:22

I would take children into the outdoors. I would do this in small groups and I would encourage them to push their boundaries and feel proud. I'm not (always) talking climbing etc... for some kids it's not being overwhelmed by the scale, or how their emotions get the better of them.

I currently work with EBD kids. A squirrel has taken residence in our garden... that furry little fecker has changed lives in the last six weeks 🐿💚
