Also she loves the pony mermaid's and we will definitely be seeing it in the cinema, probably more than once. Her favourite pony is fluttershy and mine is princess Luna

GorgeousLadyOfWrangling · 09/10/2017 13:34

So...we saw this yesterday.
There was a lot of singing.
My God, the singing.
Mild peril for younger ones and dark shadowy clouds were... a choice.
Random cat and bird pirates were...random.
Sia and her fringed pony were the saving grace.
Verdict: The unicorn should have got her horn fixed (DD aged 6)
The four year old was mainly dancing pretending he was Rainbow Dash. I still think you should have paid me and for the love of all things holy please PLEASE don't make a sequel.
Oh and as to the original question, trailers were not needed in our case, my kids can spot a lurid neon MLP cinema poster from a thousand paces, Christ, the whole city can...

Eveninties · 09/10/2017 14:24

My DD is 5 and she is so excited to see this movie! She's been on about it for months. Her favourite character is Fluttershy. She was especially excited about the mermaid scene! We will definitely be going to see it as soon as it comes out!

vlcrhopkins · 09/10/2017 14:49

First time my daughter saw the trailer she was scared. We talked about how some of the double episodes start Scarry but always turn out brilliant.

This one looks like it will have all the pony elements which is what children need.

Not sure when we'll get to see it, but it's on our to watch list. I'm really looking forward to watching this (possibly more than my children).

lindsieAnne · 09/10/2017 16:00

So just showed my nearly 3year old daughter and she's begging to watch it again... oh gosh!!. Even the 10year old daughter wants to go see it!!. Big thumbs up from these girlies I think.

poppl · 09/10/2017 17:30

We saw it last weekend at the cinema (non uk)

DD (4) loved it. To me it was basically just an extended normal episode ie no extra layer or particularly any humor for the parents.

Trolls and Smurfs were both things I took my kids to but I found more entertaining than expected. MLP was exactly as expected.

gingergenius · 09/10/2017 17:33

We just watched this together and she can’t wait to see it - she’s taking two friends as a birthday treat on 22nd October - she loves Fluttershy and her favourite scene was when the baddie said “ooh I love pie” and when spike turned into a puffer fish!! #mylittleponymovie

mitalmanda · 09/10/2017 18:51

My daughter's more of a tomboy and My Little Pony: The Movie is just a bit too young and 'girly' for her I'm afraid. Definitely aimed at the younger viewers although not sure it's worth the cost of a cinema trip and it's 90mins long to sit through. The animation is quite old fashioned too compared to other similar films. Worth a watch when on regular TV. Like the music though :-)

MorbidMuch · 09/10/2017 19:52

My son (5), LOVES MLP. On watching the trailer he said: "That's amazing! I love all of it!" And he particularly liked the bit where Spike said 'Yeah, yeah, yeah' and fell down.

He loves all of the ponies. Rainbow Dash and Princess Twilight Sparkles are two of his big favourites, but his ultimate current favourite is Princess Celestia.

We will be seeing this is half term.

HalimaB · 09/10/2017 21:41

~ Are your children My Little Pony fans? If so, who’s their favourite character and what’s their favourite scene from the trailer?
Twilight Sparkle and Pinky Pie are her favourite scene is when Spike gets turned into a fish.
~ What did you think of the trailer?
Loved it.
~ Do you think your children will see the movie?
Yes. My kids love MLP

Amaksy · 09/10/2017 22:03

DS wasn't too interested - maybe the voices but he liked the colours

SuzCG · 10/10/2017 13:19

My 8 year old still loves MLP and drives us mad watching it! She loves Twilight Sparkle best so loved the cake with Twilight in it. Being honest, I probably wouldn't pay full price to go and see this - will wait till it comes on in Mini Mornings or Movies for Juniors.

Beach11 · 10/10/2017 14:00

Rainbow Dash is my DD's favourite character & her favourite scene was when the pony was throwing the balls at the baddie.
I thought the trailer was good & looks like the film will be enjoyable for DD & DS.
Depending on film length might go to the cinema

redbook · 10/10/2017 15:33

My nieces like my little pony, and its a birthday at the end of October, so this has given me a thought for a present. I may take them to see it! The eldest talks about rainbow dash a lot, I think the youngest just copies her.

They both were excited about the trailer, me less so.

EsmeeMerlin · 10/10/2017 15:57

~ Are your children My Little Pony fans? If so, who’s their favourite character and what’s their favourite scene from the trailer?
Ds(4) does like my little pony and will sometimes watch it but he does complain its all girls, girls, girls. Its overly targeted to girls when most films and tv shows do target both better. In an ideal world my son would not care but since nursery he would not want to go see anything he sees as overly for just girls. He does not have a favourite character and said he liked the fighting bits best.

~ What did you think of the trailer?
Not enough to target boys as well as girls and I thought there was too much going on in the trailer.

~ Do you think your children will see the movie?
No he will choose the new lego movie over my little pony in half term. He just finds the lego movies more fun and interesting and more targeted for him.

SistersOfPercy · 10/10/2017 17:14

Watched with DD who's 20!

She and I are MLP fans, I had them as a child and they were re-released when she was so it's something we share. We still collect MLP and watch the original series.

Trailer was fab!

Have no doubts both DD and I will see the movie together.

bec4everuk1 · 11/10/2017 10:04

Are your children My Little Pony fans? Yes my daughter is very much a fan ever since she got Rainbow Dash for her Birthday.

If so, who’s their favourite character and what’s their favourite scene from the trailer? Rainbow Dash is her favourite character, her favourite scene was the cake scene.
~ What did you think of the trailer? It's good kept my Daughters attention throughout.
~ Do you think your children will see the movie? I think it may very well be the first film she sees at the cinema because she is really into mlp. x

polarpercy · 11/10/2017 12:01

Watched it this morning with my nearly 4 year old who loves MLP. She LOVED it! We had to re-watch the trailer 3 times.

Particular highlights were the mermaid-ponies and Pinkie Pie, as she is the favourite at the moment. I had my elbow tugged and 'mummy, mummy, look it's rainbow dash your favourite (which is true)'

All in all she can't wait for it to be out in the cinema.

GinisLife · 11/10/2017 13:17

My foster child is 14 and is totally obsessed with MLP (he's a boy). His favourite is Dirpy Hooves - who he insists he invented for a competition in a previous placement. He has drawers full of ponies !!!! He hasn't been able to wait for the film to come out but I can only find it showing at 4 Scottish Cinemas. Will it be shown in England?

ohlittlepea · 11/10/2017 16:51

My daughter likes My Little Pony, her favourite pony is Rainbow Dash.
She liked the scene where the ponies are turning into mermaids. It was quite fast paced for her to keep up with, I think she was blown away with all the action and little jokes.
I like the message about friendship, but to be completely honest I do hanker for the little ponies of my youth who Im sure were a bit less...sassy? Still times move on!
I expect she will see it and love it!

MonochromeUnicorn · 11/10/2017 20:46

"It's really good. Pinkie Pie is my favourite. My favourite bit is when Pinkie Pie thought the big sky ship was the clowns she ordered. It's really silly and funny because it obviously isn't! I really want to see the movie" - MonochomeUnicorn's DD.

SpaceCorpDirective349 · 11/10/2017 22:31

DD and I watched the trailer - she loves Rainbow Dash. She thought the "I like pie" scene was funny! She is very keen to see it in the half term so will have to organise that!

HelloDoris · 12/10/2017 07:02

I first found the trailer on Facebook and eagerly shared with DD1&2, we are huge MLP fans (me especially). We are all agreed it looks fantastic and we have a date to watch it over the half term break, as long as it appears at local cinemas. DD1 favourite character is Fluttershy, because she can talk to the animals and she's sweet and talks softly, DD2 loves Pinkamina Diane Pie because she has a fabulous name and she eats cake ALL the time plus she is incredibly funny but very astute at the same time. My favourite is Rainbow Dash, she's just awesome and she has rainbow hair. We can't wait to see the film our favourite part of the trailer was where they end up on the pirate ship, it looks exciting. I am very excited to see this film, if the music is good (love me a bit of Sia) and the jokes are funny it'll be great!

MakeTeaNotWar · 12/10/2017 08:26

Ahhhh I love it, never mind 7 year old DD! Yes we'll definitely get to the cinema to see this one, the trailer is quite funny. We like Rainbow Dash here!

JakeChambers · 12/10/2017 13:23

My daughter loves My Little Pony and Equestria Girls. She can't wait to see this and we've already planned to go at the end of October as an early birthday treat.

Her favourite is Twilight Sparkle, with Rarity a very close second.

We've watched the trailer dozens of times because she just loves the seaponies. She's already got a Christmas list a mile long of the new seapony figures.
