Dettol has launched a quiz on Mumsnet in partnership with their new ‘Protect like a Mother’ campaign. Have a go and let us know what you think of your result!

Here’s what Dettol has to say: “We know that a mother’s protection of her child is unconditional and just like an animal in the wild, she will do whatever it takes to create a safe environment for her family. We provide mums with that same unconditional protection for the whole family throughout the home.”

Any nature documentary will tell you that mothers in the wild are not to be crossed when it comes to their young. However, they all have their own individual styles of protection. Take the quiz and find out what type of animal mum you’re most like! Do you protect your child like an Elephant? Or are you more like a monkey? Or even a lion?! Have a go and come back here and let us know what you are. Do you agree with the result? Whatever kind of parent you turn out to be in the wild, we would love to hear what your thoughts are.

Everyone who posts on this thread, after taking the quiz will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

I got an eagle. I'm definitely an eagle mum! I'm the kind of annoying parent who will not take eyes off their child in soft play and the one in the playground standing under the climbing frame ready to catch. I have a giant handbag full of antiseptic wipes, snacks, and plasters. The car has spare clothes in case of emergencies and rain proof attire. I'm ready for most eventualities (including Christmas, nearly! Shopping is almost done already!).

Foundwantingalways · 02/10/2017 14:38

Eagle. Much better than my own answer to the question, which was 'a crap one'.

Ren1974 · 02/10/2017 14:41

A bear, i can live with that :)

Soubriquet · 02/10/2017 14:52

Bear

Where are the questions where you let them be self reliant whilst ensuring it's safe to do so?

littlewhitething · 02/10/2017 15:13

Eagle here too

thatcoldfeeling · 02/10/2017 17:17

purplevamp · 02/10/2017 17:48

Realitea · 02/10/2017 18:09

defineme · 02/10/2017 18:37

I am a bear, which is rather nice!

allthingsred · 02/10/2017 18:47

annarack99 · 02/10/2017 19:43

I'm a bear - hear me growl!!

Cintacmrs · 02/10/2017 20:31

Bear
Not the loudest most outgoing parent? umm I have never been acused of being quiet

Fizzyxo · 02/10/2017 20:57

Wow a bear, didn't see that one coming, but then i agree with the description. I don't like to coddle too much, and I'm not always overly prepared, but I am very protection like a mama bear haha.

catgirl2 · 02/10/2017 21:22

Eagle, not sure I am that prepared though!

Salma74 · 02/10/2017 22:01

A monkey! Fun mama

Bsummers · 03/10/2017 00:36

I got a bear

Kcoops · 03/10/2017 09:11

I got a bear and I have to say....it did sound like me. Good to know 😁

Sammyislost · 03/10/2017 09:45

Eagle.

The eagle mother always has an eye on what's about to happen. Going to rain? You always got a brolly in your bag. Got the sniffles? Here's a hankie. You're also brilliant at watching out for your children from a distance.

I thought I might be an elephant.

NauticalDisaster · 03/10/2017 10:12

Bear but I have no idea what it's suppose to mean or what dettol was trying to do with test quiz. Not a fan.

manfalou · 03/10/2017 11:36

I'm a Lion!

grannybiker · 03/10/2017 12:06

A bear apparently
You might not be the loudest, most outgoing parent but when push comes to shove you're there to step up to any parenting challenge. You prefer situations you're familiar with and once someone gets to know you they couldn't find a better friend in you.

Joeywhitter · 03/10/2017 12:16

I'm a lion but I don't think it's very accurate - or maybe I just don't have a very accurate picture of myself. I always thought ideas more of a 'Just let them get on with it...' kind of parent!

Alannahpickaver · 03/10/2017 12:42

I am a bear. I am happy for my children to be independent, however I will always be there to protect them.

Wishingandwaiting · 03/10/2017 12:50

I am an Eagle
