Dettol has launched a quiz on Mumsnet in partnership with their new ‘Protect like a Mother’ campaign. Have a go and let us know what you think of your result!

Here’s what Dettol has to say: “We know that a mother’s protection of her child is unconditional and just like an animal in the wild, she will do whatever it takes to create a safe environment for her family. We provide mums with that same unconditional protection for the whole family throughout the home.”

Any nature documentary will tell you that mothers in the wild are not to be crossed when it comes to their young. However, they all have their own individual styles of protection. Take the quiz and find out what type of animal mum you’re most like! Do you protect your child like an Elephant? Or are you more like a monkey? Or even a lion?! Have a go and come back here and let us know what you are. Do you agree with the result? Whatever kind of parent you turn out to be in the wild, we would love to hear what your thoughts are.

Everyone who posts on this thread, after taking the quiz will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

I'm a bear, apparently.

WonderLime · 01/10/2017 10:45

Another Bear here!

That1950sMum · 01/10/2017 11:52

Apparently I'm a bear. I'm sure I've changed as they've got older though so not sure what I'd have been a few years ago.
I like bears so I'm happy!

Natsai1 · 01/10/2017 13:47

Elephant. Lots of beats and eagle parents here

sprockercrazy · 01/10/2017 14:22

Lots of eagles and bears - I got elephant lol

Helsbells68 · 01/10/2017 16:27

I am an elephant, but some questions did not have the answer I would have preferred.

carolacr · 01/10/2017 17:03

Bear
You might not be the loudest, most outgoing parent but when push comes to shove you're there to step up to any parenting challenge. You prefer situations you're familiar with and once someone gets to know you they couldn't find a better friend in you.

rachaelsit · 01/10/2017 17:39

Elephant!!

juliecorrigan · 01/10/2017 19:12

I'm a heffalump.

Ditsy1980 · 01/10/2017 19:49

I'm an eagle although the description does not fit with me at all.
Always prepared....err, no, if my child has a sniffle you can guarantee that my bag will be empty and nose will be wiped on an old receipt or sleeve 🙈

NarcsBegone · 01/10/2017 20:17

Eagle

altogetherheather · 01/10/2017 20:46

apparently I'm a bear!

mata777 · 01/10/2017 21:02

I am an elephant. I agree with the bit about always checking the school bag (because I can't trust my son to remember what's in it).

Justchillaxing · 01/10/2017 21:11

I'm a lion.

cathwarbur · 01/10/2017 21:42

I am a bear mother, I feel so reassured about this fun survey

SarahLouise849 · 01/10/2017 22:09

I'm a lion🦁

flamingtoaster · 01/10/2017 22:24

I got bear - and I think that's accurate. Enjoyable quiz but I'd have liked an extra option on a few occasions.

JorlyWood · 01/10/2017 23:10

Another bear here.

Perfectly1mperfect · 02/10/2017 03:17

I am a mama bear, no surprises there. 🐻

hannahbjm · 02/10/2017 06:52

I'm a bear and the description was quite accurate!

kamaxtra · 02/10/2017 11:19

I'm an eagle

BellaVida · 02/10/2017 12:27

Bear- but the baby proofing question didn't have an option for not buying any gadgets or for just moving harmful stuff out of arms reach.

jandoc · 02/10/2017 12:50

I'm an eagle

MsPassepartout · 02/10/2017 13:06

I got eagle.

I'm struggling to see the connection with Dettol though, I'm sure eagles (or any of the other animals mentioned) don't use any Dettol.

spababe · 02/10/2017 13:48

I'm an Eagle - yes I am prepared for everything including Dettol
