We know many Mumsnetters swear by their Lidl finds - both everyday items and more unusual ones.

We’d love for you to share the gems you’ve discovered there with the rest of MN. Maybe you’re crazy about their chocolate, love their laundry liquid or prize their peppers? Perhaps you stumbled upon an item once that you now always pop in the basket. We all know what treasures are to be found on the middle aisle of wonder - what’s the best thing you’ve ever picked up there?

Please post them on this thread and you will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will get £100 worth of Lidl vouchers (note the winner will be sent 4 x £25 vouchers, one voucher can be redeemed per transaction).

Thanks and good luck

The ground almonds! Cheaper than anywhere else I know - buy in bulk.

OutandIntoday · 15/09/2017 16:57

For me it is the gerkins and cornichions. The pickle is just right - not overly sweet like other stores. We always have a jar in the fridge.

My favourite things from lidl:

Red wine - the cimbarose cabernet sav is fab
Gnocchi - cheap and really lovely
Custard - can't tell the difference between branded products

Years ago I purchased an inflatable shark dressed as pirate (the shark not me!)for the swimming pool/sea. Its big job to blow it up but the kids adore it. That shark has survived 4 holidays and is still going strong

Another vote for the prosecco - lovely (and a good price).
Also I discovered a gluten free pack of jammy dodgers - delicious!

PuckeredAhole · 15/09/2017 18:36

Love lidl. Best buy is from the bakery. Yummy tiger bread!!

mumpetuk1 · 15/09/2017 18:56

Their Non Bio Washing Liquid is fab.

PumbletonWakeshaft · 15/09/2017 18:56

The bechamel sauce from Italian week is silky smooth and a staple for lasagne so I always stock up.

The chocolate is my favourite though. Always have a pack of lidl mini choc bars in the cupboard - they're the perfect size!

Love the fresh bakery in Lidl, nothing beats a warm fresh baguette for lunch!! Grin

PenguinRoar · 15/09/2017 22:09

The baklava is delicious and my favourite winter treat.

Have a very comfy pair of running leggings and like the random kids clothes I find too.

Best is the loose shelled nuts you can buy by the scoop.

It would be great to see more plastic/packaging-free fresh veggies and fruit at Lidl.

We used to shop in Lidl, liking the sensitive washing powder and many other things.

However, being ID'd when you're mid-thirties with 3 children, and have professional work ID, admittedly not with a dob, but still- it's just annoying. I'd rather go over the road to Aldi where I don't get the hassle. I don't look under 18. I don't even look under 25. I look my age. It's ridiculous, and lost you a customer.

Fetchmethatyoke · 16/09/2017 06:54

Camping in Ireland all my clothes were either wet or dirty so I went into Lidl on the off chance, and sure enough there were really great jeans for €7.99. I thought they'd do for the rest of the holiday, but since I got back I've worn them all the time. They are comfortable and I've had several people ask where I bought them.

Fridayschild · 16/09/2017 07:42

The hummus is just the best! Cheaper and far far tastier than all the more expensive ones for sale in other shops.

VivaVegas · 16/09/2017 08:51

The bakery as you walk in, chocolate topped donut for my son and delicious pain au chocolate for me, and so reasonable.
My husband loves the boxes of 6 chocolate topped ice creams, far nicer than magnums and far cheaper!

laurzj82 · 16/09/2017 09:28

I love Lidl!

My faves are:

Tortilla chips
Fruit and veg
Cream cheese (think its called Goldnessa or similar)
Kids tube youghurts
Lidl twixes ( will make you fat though because they are so much better than actual twixes so you eat more!)

My "must buy" is the nappies by a mile. Far far far superior to Pampers and a fraction of the cost!

Thanks Lidl

ASauvingnonADay · 16/09/2017 09:29

Their miller cider at Christmas.

eightyeightmilesperhour · 16/09/2017 10:18

Huge fan of Lidl here! Love their:

Cloudy apple juice
Creamy dark chocolate- to die for
Cinnamon buns from bread counter - heavenly
Malaysian crackers which they do occasionally - these are absolutely delicious
All baking stuff - so cheap and good quality
Smoked salmon
Honey roast ham
Minced turkey and pork - use it to make delicious burgers and bolognaise sauce - excellent substitute for lamb or beef
They sometimes do frozen French pastries which are yum!

Could go on forever!

A few years ago I had a terrible winter of having a tight chest and wheezing on every breath. Shopping in Lidl, they had an inhaler for sale. You pour boiling water on a teaspoon of Vicks then breath it up through a mask that fits over your nose and mouth. I still have it and still use it to clear my airwaves.

CointreauVersial · 16/09/2017 14:03

Ooh, where do I start?!

My regular Lidl purchases (the ones I make a special trip for, because they are so much cheaper/better than elsewhere) are:
Salami with fennel
Hot smoked salmon
Greek yogurt (bring back the buckets!)
Normandy butter with salt crystals
Oak smoked cheddar
Peppermint & licorice tea
Hortus gin
Piri piri spatchcock chicken
Glasses cleaning wipes

Best purchases would be the clothes - I have a brilliant pleather jacket that I wear a lot, and several pairs of PJs. And the plants.

CointreauVersial · 16/09/2017 14:15

Ooh, and one more thing I forgot - their chocolate sandwich biscuits. Used to be called Captain Rondo, but I think they've changed recently. They are not too sweet and my lot adore them.

OnMyShoulders · 16/09/2017 14:16

Nappies ⭐️

kj19 · 16/09/2017 14:41

I was visiting my parents in Spain and went shopping in Lidl there and found a huge cast iron dish with a lid was only 10 Euro .. I had to get them to bring it to the UK as it was so heavy to put in my luggage, I've had for 10 years easy and it's like new .. My best buy to date

dertyyuoih2 · 16/09/2017 14:48

From their bakery range the feta bread with tomatoes type thing. Yummmmy!

thisisgettingridiculous · 16/09/2017 16:13

I've now moved from Tesco/Sainsbury's to shopping exclusively at Lidl.

Recent amazing finds: vegan chocolate spread, frozen cheese pastries and frozen cheese in breadcrumbs (both part of the Greek special promotion - absolutely gorgeous! I tweeted about the cheese in breadcrumbs as it was so good.) Also love their choc/nut ice cream cones.

Good value nappies and in good sizes with best absorbency I've found.

Their houmous is one of the nicest.

like2review · 16/09/2017 16:51

Where to start so many delicious finds in lidl...I love their bakery section excellent value for money especially if you have a large family, croissants are my favourite along with their goats cheese and tomatoe pizza style breads. Their magnum style lollies are really good too.

PatMustardsBigTool · 16/09/2017 16:59

My family loves the Naturis Multivitamin juice cartons. There was a tense couple of weeks when it seemed the Vitafit range was discontinued and we were fast running out of our supply...turns out they were just re-branding as Naturis. Phew!
Also really rate the chilled lasagne. No longer bother making my own because this is so cheap and delicious.
