As part of our partnership with Fairy Non Bio, we’ve produced the Mumsnet Babies Podcast. There are ten episodes in the series, and so far we’ve released five. Episode four is about health, and you can listen to it here. Fairy Non Bio would like you to listen to the podcast whenever you can and then discuss your experience with commonplace baby health issues.

There’s nothing like the new found responsibility of a brand new life, and it’s easy to let anxiety take over and maybe worry too much when that new little one gets the sniffles. Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about your experience with baby health. So, whether you have experience with coughs and colds, eczema, chickenpox, colic or other minor illness - share your experience below.

What do you ensure you always have in your medicine cabinet to avoid a wild goose chase for an open pharmacy on a Sunday evening? Maybe you have tips for keeping your LO comfortable and yourself sane while they’re unwell, or have advice for dealing with common ailments?

Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

If you’d like to rate the Mumsnet Babies Podcast, please go to the iTunes store to add a review.

Thanks, and good luck with the prize draw!

As a foster mum of many children I always have a good stock of what I would consider the essentials as many have already mentioned above. However, I would say that over time I have learnt which chemists stock the equivalent of some of the named and trusted brands and how their own versions are really exactly the same but often up to half the cost. I have had to keep good accurate medical records and I did exactly the same with my homegrown as if any allergies develop it is important to track them and find alternatives.

We always have ice pops in the freezer and calpol/piriton in the cupboard. When sickness hits we find that cold flannels and sofa surfing keeps little tummies calmer.

We always have calpol

LindseyandMatthew · 14/05/2017 22:57

jamielmdjs · 14/05/2017 23:44

clarabella12 · 15/05/2017 02:05

We always have calpol.

RaeSkywalker · 15/05/2017 03:02

Calpol, ibuprofen suspension, and teething gel are essentials for us at the moment. When DS has a cold, we use a vapour rub (usually just put it on a muslin in his cot), and saline nasal drops (he hates the sprays). The drops in particular are great for clearing his nose.

A good electronic thermometer is also worth investing in.

upthehammers · 15/05/2017 03:49

we always have calpol, nurofen, sudocrem, plasters ...as well as epi pens, piriton and inhalers
