As part of our partnership with Fairy Non Bio, we’ve produced the Mumsnet Babies Podcast. There are ten episodes in the series, and so far we’ve released five. Episode four is about health, and you can listen to it here. Fairy Non Bio would like you to listen to the podcast whenever you can and then discuss your experience with commonplace baby health issues.

There’s nothing like the new found responsibility of a brand new life, and it’s easy to let anxiety take over and maybe worry too much when that new little one gets the sniffles. Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about your experience with baby health. So, whether you have experience with coughs and colds, eczema, chickenpox, colic or other minor illness - share your experience below.

What do you ensure you always have in your medicine cabinet to avoid a wild goose chase for an open pharmacy on a Sunday evening? Maybe you have tips for keeping your LO comfortable and yourself sane while they’re unwell, or have advice for dealing with common ailments?

Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

If you’d like to rate the Mumsnet Babies Podcast, please go to the iTunes store to add a review.

Thanks, and good luck with the prize draw!

We always have paracetamol, plasters, vicks vaporub and germolene in the cupboard. Plus asthma inhalers. Kisses and cuddles are always in plentiful supply too!

ceroooss · 27/05/2017 08:49

Calpol, sudocrem, and cough medicine are all essentials!

Rushy21 · 27/05/2017 09:29

I always keep calpol, ibuprofen, bonjela, sudocreme, piriton and plasters in our cupboard!

jazzitup · 27/05/2017 11:05

A good supply of calpol, sudocrem, plasters, & paracetamol.

grannybiker · 27/05/2017 11:13

A well stocked medical kit, (Paediatric paracetemol, ibuprofen and antihistamine, antiseptic cream and funky plasters,) are pretty much a must and handy to keep in the car glovebox too. (We used a takeaway tub!)
Once they start school I'd also recommend keeping some nit lotion too as you always seem to discover them on a Sunday night!

always have calpol stocked up in the cupboard. You dont want to be caught out late in the night with an unwell child and no calpol x

beckyinman · 27/05/2017 12:58

We have calpol and spray on plasters at all time. If they are really ill we have a poorly blanket that seems to have powerful healing powers

ElizaW922 · 27/05/2017 14:48

I keep all the usual medicines around (call, antihistamines, insect cream, ibuprofen), plus novelty plasters! I also have a little Nursey Bear who makes appearances when my DD is sick and it always makes her smile when Nursey Bear appears.

We always try to use natural remedies where possible

When she was a few moths old my daughter had a cold. Nothing too serious. I still to this day don't know what woke me, there was no noise from the baby monitor but I had a feeling of dread and went to check on her. She was totally blue and not breathing. I screamed for her dad who managed to get her breathing again while I rang an ambulance. I now always have a humidifier at hand. She slept in her crib on a alarmed mat from the hospital from then on. Xx

clarabella12 · 27/05/2017 23:53

we always keep a stock of calpol and sudocream those are our go to products when dealing with things.

clareycat · 27/05/2017 23:54

Both liquid paracetamol and Ibruprofen are absolute essentials. As well as antihistamine solution and bite/sting spray.

AEFD · 28/05/2017 08:27

Magic Calpol and always a cold pack in the fridge.

dilydaly · 28/05/2017 22:42

For me as a kid and now as a parent it's always calpol. While I'm not anti medication by any means, I think there's too much on the market these days that people are just too quick to give to their kids. Everyone will get a cold, according to most doctors couch meds don't help. Calpol kills pain, brings down fever and makes them feel a little better in themselves. On top of the calpol the next best thing is rest and ideally sleep. Sleep really is the best thing when you're under the weather. I've always found my kids bounce back just as quickly as they go down !

user1496053440 · 29/05/2017 11:27

Always keep Calpol handy!

FuckingHateRats · 29/05/2017 13:51

Always have ice poles in the freezer to cool down fevers and replenish fluid levels.
