Over the past few wintry months you'd be forgiven for feeling like the icy starts and shorter days were never going to end. However, now that the days are drawing out and it’s light into the evenings, it’s great to be able to start spending more time outdoors, getting some fresh air. Arla Big Milk would like to hear about your plans to spend more time outside and ensure your children get the fresh air they need and some much-needed Vitamin D, now that spring is here.

Here’s what Arla Big Milk have to say: “We know it's important your little ones get the nutrients they need to fuel their amazing growth and development. Arla Big Milk is fresh cow's milk enriched with Vitamin D, A and Iron so you can be sure they are getting what they need when consumed as part of a balanced diet.”

Maybe you’re looking forward to getting the barbecue out without there being a downpour. Or you might be planning longer family walks with your dog or perhaps you’re looking forward to spending time in the park so your toddler can use up their excess energy? If you expect resistance from the kids, what might be your cunning plans be to persuade them to join you outdoors? Share your plans for being out in the fresh air with Arla Big Milk below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher.

Thanks, and good luck!

We love getting our little one out for walks and he's much more enthused if he can be leader. It can be hard when you have an idea I mind of where you'd like to go, but if we let him choose random footpaths or go where he wants he feels much more on control and will walk loads further. We always aim for a cafe on the way round for provisions but have plenty of snacks in case it doesn't go to plan!

We love going out as a family. Our favourite outings are:
The park with an animal sanctuary
Long walks at a national trust site
Going to the beach, even in the wind and rain this can be a great day, kids love it whatever the weather.
Country parks are great for family walks
Interactive farms where you can feed the animals etc

My partner, our daughter Heidi (age 5) and I added a new addition to our family and got a beautiful little dog called Major!
We make sure Major gets out a walk twice daily come rain or shine nothing stops us! We make sure we are dressed for the weather and off we pop and enjoy it! It is great fun and we always feel brilliant after a walk, we are lucky to live in such a beautiful countryside :)

Planning on doing some serious work in the garden to finally get it sorted

jandoc · 03/04/2017 20:39

I'm looking forward to getting out more and doing fun exercise things

sweir1 · 03/04/2017 21:11

No persuasion needed - it is harder to get them to come in!

nicholaire1987 · 03/04/2017 22:22

We have just signed up for junior park run cos my kids really wanted to do it no mean feat for a 20stone mum but i wont let my weight hold them back

Elliepurpleflower · 03/04/2017 22:30

We love being outdoors so we don't need to pursuance them hard. Having lots of toys in the garden, food at the park and friends being there usually makes it even easier!

Chlobuzz · 03/04/2017 23:02

We love the outside!! We live in a 4th floor 2 bedroom flat with 3 children sharing a room so being out is vital! We love bikes, scooters, sand toys, footballs, frisbees, rounders, wellies, umbrellas, no matter the weather we are outside playing!

volunteering on the farm

We have a picnic blanket optimistically hanging by the door to grab the minute the mood takes us. We also keep balls, trike and toy-on-lead out and ready to grab at a moment's notice.

goldenretriever1978 · 04/04/2017 06:55

Definitely wellies and rain coats and just crack on with it if it is raining.

Ferryfairy · 04/04/2017 08:26

Dens in the woods, puddle jumping, eating outside every day, not just for barbecues, each child has their own area of garden to tend, bird watching, and most important NO SCREENS OF ANY DESCRIPTION!

For things at home, dd age 4 loves to "help" so she has a set of gardening gloves and helps me pull out weeds and put them in the bin for me, or she will wash her playhouse, so old clothes, and wellies, soapy water and off she goes.

For more active days we go to the park or we have annual passes for a local adventure park near us which has 80% of stuff outside. We are so close we can choose to go all day or just for a couple of hours. There is loads to do and she is always exhausted when we've done. It's one of my favourite actives that we do.

ShatnersBassoon · 04/04/2017 08:46

We're in the middle of overhauling our garden so we have no choice but to get out in the fresh air. It's not as much fun as a picnic in the park Sad

Roll on some sunny days when we can sit out and enjoy the fruits of our labour Smile

Laurenboyle22 · 04/04/2017 09:22

We have big plans my husband is off work for paternity leave so we have things planned with our 3 girls like barbecues , trips to the park , seaside, farm, beamish outside museum and we are going to find our were there are some Easter activities like egg hunts , I find some websites helpful like 'days out with the kids' :) my 2 older girls love being outdoors and I'm sure the baby will too !

strawberrisc · 04/04/2017 10:22

We always look to the nature that is all around us. I am lucky to live on a peninsula so there are so many wonderful places to visit over and over again. We are looking forward to our annual walk from the local beach to an island that is not only stunning but if you're lucky you get to see the seals. Plenty of fresh air!

zlb33 · 04/04/2017 10:59

lexy2009 · 04/04/2017 11:15

We have a caravan we go as much as we can. The kids love running up and down the sand dunes.love getting out in the air

sharond101 · 04/04/2017 11:45

We go out everyday. The children don't expect to use the car instead we walk or use skooters. Lots of outdoor toys help too and wellies!

BigGreenOlives · 04/04/2017 11:49

We have two dogs and so go for lots of walks. We love walking along the banks of the Thames in London, everyday the river is different, the wind direction and tides make it a new walk each time.

Our garden is a little oasis in the midst of the city and has a seating area where we can sit and talk.

Going to the local climbing frames was a great way to spend an afternoon when our children were younger - there is a wild flower meadow and the council have also installed an outdoor table tennis table so teens can play.

JodieLauren · 04/04/2017 11:56

We go on nature walks through the fields and farmland near our home to get out in the fresh air. It's also a lovely way to connect as a family whilst spotting all the beautiful nature around us

angiehoggett · 04/04/2017 13:13

I like to go on a big family adventure to the woods and get everyone to help prepare picnic food

Gerjuice · 04/04/2017 13:28

We make a long list of all the places we'd like to go together including local play parks, woodlands, duck feeding river sides, open air pools and splash parks, family farms, historical buildings and botanical gardens. Then the children choose which to try on weekends and during school holidays. They feel they are making the decision and that encourages them.

HanIngham · 04/04/2017 13:33

Next week in the half term I plan to go out geocaching with the family, it's like a technological treasure hunt. Great fun, you find new places and make great memories!
