Over the past few wintry months you'd be forgiven for feeling like the icy starts and shorter days were never going to end. However, now that the days are drawing out and it’s light into the evenings, it’s great to be able to start spending more time outdoors, getting some fresh air. Arla Big Milk would like to hear about your plans to spend more time outside and ensure your children get the fresh air they need and some much-needed Vitamin D, now that spring is here.

Here’s what Arla Big Milk have to say: “We know it's important your little ones get the nutrients they need to fuel their amazing growth and development. Arla Big Milk is fresh cow's milk enriched with Vitamin D, A and Iron so you can be sure they are getting what they need when consumed as part of a balanced diet.”

Maybe you’re looking forward to getting the barbecue out without there being a downpour. Or you might be planning longer family walks with your dog or perhaps you’re looking forward to spending time in the park so your toddler can use up their excess energy? If you expect resistance from the kids, what might be your cunning plans be to persuade them to join you outdoors? Share your plans for being out in the fresh air with Arla Big Milk below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher.

Thanks, and good luck!

We live within walking distance of several parks so we pack a picnic and off we go. If it does rain I have found bus safaris are very entertaining. A family bus pass for the whole day and we go here there and everywhere.

In the spring we always go to our local woods every weekend to find sticks to add to our Easter tree. We paint plastic eggs to hang off the tree and the DC really look forward to going on a stick hunt every weekend when normally they'd rather stay in on the computer.

We've been coming up north (Scotland) for all the short school breaks - very little in the way of entertainment so the kids are outside most of the time..yesterday we spent all afternoon building this den! And spending lots of time on woodland walks and on the beach.

Picnics in the forest, making dens with the old tree branches etc works in this family

We are enlisting our sons help to get the garden of our new home into shape. Lot's of fresh air & exercise.

southernsun · 03/04/2017 10:55

Our children love being out in the garden helping grow and plant things and also playing football so its quite easy to get them outside. We are also lucky to live near so many places we can go for a walk and explore.

littlemonkeyz · 03/04/2017 11:46

We love to go Geocaching in the local area. It gets my little boy walking but it feels like an adventure, looking for hidden treasure.

BL0SS0M · 03/04/2017 11:52

We love going to the park every sat so they can run around, blow off a bit of steam, explore and have a picnic

Pmliu · 03/04/2017 12:03

I have no problems encouraging my little ones outside, usually they are the ones dragging me to the playground or the garden for a run around, they love the outdoors

jhill11 · 03/04/2017 13:28

I plan on being outdoors most of the time until October!
It's been such a long winter! We have lots of picnics planned, long nature walks, frog hunting, searching for newts, collecting some tadpoles and building them a home in the garden, growing our own fruit and veg in the garden, bike rides, feeding the ducks!! Lots and lots of days out!

NerrSnerr · 03/04/2017 13:36

We are getting our garden grassed over in a couple of weeks so our daughter has somewhere safe to play. I am pregnant so hoping I can spend much of the summer sat with the baby under an umbrella while the 2 year old has fun running around the garden!

lizziefield1982 · 03/04/2017 13:53

Making good use of the garden! We have just dug in a veggie patch and I am trying to get our son (18 months) involved in planting seeds, pulling up weeds and planting out bits.... Eventually harvesting I hope! He has a pretty short attention span so any of these things mean we get outside for half an hour when otherwise it would be easy to stay indoors if we didn't have long between places to be. Doesn't have to be hot just so long as it's not bucketing down. So far he seems to enjoy it even if he only thinks we are digging in mud!

needalittleL · 03/04/2017 13:55

My child would sit outside in the rain over sitting inside with an unlimited amount of entertainment. She just loves being outside. Chalk's on the walls, watering plants, washing her scooter and bike. All favourite things to do!

Recently retired, and have made it my new hobby to go for walks in the country park close to my home. Also notice a few groups meeting there for walks, so I'll get a bit fitter and then join them on their walks

sjl19 · 03/04/2017 15:43

My kids love being outdoors. They spend hours out in the garden when the weather is nice.

emmmaaa26 · 03/04/2017 16:19

Taking some yummy food for a picnic and going somewhere fun. Also taking some games like cricket, badminton or football and towels so that they can have fun in the water.

Reow · 03/04/2017 16:30

Bike rides!

brizy83 · 03/04/2017 17:17

Once my husband and I are both retired at the end of July 2017 we are planning to go walking in the countryside on a regular basis. We are already looking at books of walks in our home area as well as in other places which we enjoy visiting.

Gwencooper81 · 03/04/2017 17:28

When mine were younger we lots of picnics and i-spy games.
Now they spend all day riding bikes and bouncing on the trampoline 😁

IonaAilidh11 · 03/04/2017 17:30

get the bikes out of the shed, clean them up and get out for the day

dizzytina · 03/04/2017 18:10

I love getting my family out in the fresh air. We have a big trampoline in the garden and we have woods behind our house. We have just discovered geocaching which is a great way to get kids exploring. My husband has downloaded the free app and its very easy to use. For anyone who hasnt heard of it its basically like treasure hunting outdoors. People hide geocaches all over the world and you use coordinates to find them.

devito92 · 03/04/2017 18:41

We always encourage the children to help plants some flowers in the garden, this year we're going to try some fruit

bevmichelle47 · 03/04/2017 18:53

We have a 5 mile bike path through woodlands by our home, and now the weather is breaking we can all get out the bikes, ruck sacks with ample supplies of food and drink..Whether it rains doens't really make a difference as we have wetproofs and it's fun riding through the puddles..There's a great park at the end of the path were we spend a few hours playing hide and seek, football and taking turns on the slide...it's not only for childen! lol

michaela2002 · 03/04/2017 19:22

we love to get out and hit the beach.... build sand castles paddle in the sea. have fun in rock pools
