With Easter fast approaching, Lidl would love to hear how you celebrate!

Meal - do you get the family together over a huge feast? If so is it the traditional lamb roast or do you embrace spring with a BBQ or something completely different?

Gifting - if you got out of cooking and are visiting family instead, do you take flowers – maybe lovely spring daffodils or a favourite wine for the chef? And let's not forget chocolate - are you into fancy eggs, chocolate animals or do you manage to keep Easter sweet free?

Activities - How do you keep your DC entertained during the run up to Easter? Do you do an Easter egg hunt? Do you bake something special or decorate eggs or do particular arts and crafts?

So share your Easter celebrations on this thread, and everyone who posts below will be entered into a prize draw where five winners will each get £50 to spend in Lidl.

Thanks and good luck!

WE WILL GO OUT TO EASTER LUNCH WHERES THERES A EGG HUNT ON ALWAYS LOTS FUN FOR MY GRANDAUGHTER SHE LOVES ALL THE EGGS

like7 · 19/02/2017 15:28

Every Easter seems to vary but the constants are chocolate Easter eggs for everyone and always go to church to celebrate Easter. Most years we have a Easter egg hunt - sometimes indoors, and outdoors if the weather's K!

Angelkimmy · 19/02/2017 16:58

Lots of chocolate for me and my son...

Sadly my daughter can't have

mamof3boys · 19/02/2017 18:12

We usually have a big family lunch on Easter Sunday, after an Easter Egg hunt and lots of chocolate for breakfast! This year will be extra special as my eldest sons birthday falls on Easter Monday (he was born on Easter Monday in 2006 and this is the first year that his birthday lands on Easter Monday again).

kayleigh39 · 19/02/2017 18:48

We start the day by having egg and soldiers.
Whilst the kids are finishing their breakfast, I get out the 'hunt' maps that I make the night before. We head into the big garden out the back to uncover medium sized eggs (one each).
After lunch, we bake easter nests and eat these after dinner.

TenaciousOne · 19/02/2017 18:54

As a child we would have a huge family meal for Easter. Now it's just us, so I tend to cook whatever DS fancies and we do an Easter egg hunt in the morning. The last few years he's been far too small for clues so it's just been hiding plastic eggs with a couple of mini eggs instead around the house and garden. That's all the Chocolate he generally gets which I think is more than enough.
This year we intend to bake hot cross buns and add to our Easter traditions.

Sunday dinner, nice roast beef with all the trimmings. All the grandparents around so dd's can do an Easter egg hunt.

I did this in Oz once, and let's just say I forgot where I put some choccy eggs, and they melted Blush

Always good to write down not drink too much when hiding the eggs.

As you were...

OhPuddleducks · 19/02/2017 19:12

We roll eggs because I'm Scottish. We hard boil a load of eggs and decorate them with felt tip pen. Then go to the top of a big hill and fling them down. The winner is the egg that goes the furthest. We live in England so quite a lot of people think we're bonkers but it is a big part of my childhood and we'll always do it at Easter.

racybikerchick1 · 19/02/2017 19:26

Sometimes we go away for a break at easter bringing a friend for my daughter. If we're at home have a nice sunday roast, an egg hunt, a luxury egg for me, hot cross buns, and flowers for my mum and nan.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 19/02/2017 19:42

Our Easter time usually involves the following:
Easter egg hunt for the children
Roast dinner for us all
A visit to extended family
Some sort of day out / activity
Some sort of craft (ie making Easter cards)
As much r&r as we can get!!

Love the long weekend and chance for good quality family time (& chocolate if course!!) Smile

bridge16 · 19/02/2017 19:45

We dress up in bunny ears and yellow clothing and have a huge easter egg hunt every year at the kids grandparents house which they love followed by a lovely roast dinner.

GiraffesAndButterflies · 19/02/2017 19:47

Three words: MIL's. Fish. Pie. ~drools Homer Simpson style~

My family's activities this year will hopefully include a housewarming and I'm hoping someone will be bringing us some daffs and spring flowers as our garden will be bare! Might have a bring-a-cutting party! Something else MIL is good at actually.

Traditional Easter chocolate will be present but not in huge quantities as my DC are only small.

beckyinman · 19/02/2017 20:19

We just have a roast and eat lots of chocolate!

Pillowaddict · 19/02/2017 21:00

We go away for the Easter weekend usually, and have a big roast dinner on Easter Sunday (self catering), usually beef or lamb.

Last year dd1 was old enough to do an Easter egg hunt so we will do that again, and we also paint and roll eggs. I usually buy some easter themed crafts for dc to do while we're away incase of crap weather too - last year it was wooden bunnies to paint, this year I haven't been to hobby craft yet ;-) we also make biscuits or cakes while we are away, and eat lots of chocolate!

buckley1983 · 19/02/2017 21:24

We love a bit of Easter crafting, & like many others, an Easter Egg hunt! As a child we always used to decorate blown eggshells so I might give that a go with LO this year.
I'd also like to try a bit of Easter baking - ideally Hot Cross buns.. a) to talk about meaning of Easter & the significance of the cross.. but also b) because I LOVE them!!
Happy Easter all :)

Doncald · 19/02/2017 21:34

We usually start Easter of by making Easter bonnets then we have an Easter egg hunt either in the garden but if it's wet around the house then a big family roast chicken dinner and on the Monday we dye and colour our eggs and gonfind the biggest hill to roll them down

mrsglowglow · 19/02/2017 21:39

Children's mass in the morning. Visiting family and then a sunday roast followed by Easter egg hunt. Hopefully the weather will be fine so a family day out on Monday.

ataraxia · 19/02/2017 21:44

I tend to spend the weekend with my parents, we tend to go for a day out on Good Friday with an elderly relatives - perhaps have a meal out. We sometimes rake her flowers.

Usually a roast on the Sunday, but not necessarily 'Easter' meal per se. Might look out for Easter eggs in the sale!

cinderellao9 · 19/02/2017 21:52

i make an easter egg hunt for my daughter with riddles, she loves doing them

CheeseEMouse · 19/02/2017 22:14

A nice family roast dinner all together on yhe Sunday and then on one of the days we will go for a big family walk.

Purplehonesty · 20/02/2017 00:24

We tend to have family round on Easter Sunday and do an egg hunt for the children in the gardens. We also roll our decorated eggs down the bank at the back of the garden.
We live rurally so often go for a nice walk after lunch, maybe to the beach if it's nice.
We'll have a roast dinner - probably beef as some of them don't like lamb.
I have an Easter tree which the dc will decorate in the run up to Easter.
It's really just a huge jug with branches sprayed white and wee eggs / flowers/ chickens hung on. Looks cute tho.

phillie1 · 20/02/2017 08:59

Easter egg hunt, where they have to follow clues, which get harder and more cryptic as they get older, followed by big roast dinner

daisyduke66 · 20/02/2017 09:16

We always have a family Easter meal celebration, usually involving a leg of lamb! The children love to make an Easter cake. An Egg hunt on Easter morning too.

tooneedyme · 20/02/2017 10:24

We do lots of arts and crafts on the lead up and make a special Easter bonnet cake. Always a garden egg hunt and roll out decorated eggs down a hill.

MiddleClassProblem · 20/02/2017 11:43

We might go to our parents but generally the idea is eat as many chocolate eggs as possible
