With Easter fast approaching, Lidl would love to hear how you celebrate!

Meal - do you get the family together over a huge feast? If so is it the traditional lamb roast or do you embrace spring with a BBQ or something completely different?

Gifting - if you got out of cooking and are visiting family instead, do you take flowers – maybe lovely spring daffodils or a favourite wine for the chef? And let's not forget chocolate - are you into fancy eggs, chocolate animals or do you manage to keep Easter sweet free?

Activities - How do you keep your DC entertained during the run up to Easter? Do you do an Easter egg hunt? Do you bake something special or decorate eggs or do particular arts and crafts?

So share your Easter celebrations on this thread, and everyone who posts below will be entered into a prize draw where five winners will each get £50 to spend in Lidl.

Thanks and good luck!

I love Easter, it's a great time for family. I always do an Easter egg hunt in my back garden for the children and they still believe me when I say the Easter bunny cane with a basket and hid the eggs! I love buying daffs especially the scented ones and tulips. This year we are all going to stay in a self catering cottage by the beach which will chase those Winter cobwebs away. Hot cross buns and a hot chocolate are a great way to warm up after a bit of fresh air too.

a family pub lunch followed by afternoon in the park

Funkyferret · 18/02/2017 13:23

We always go for an Easter picnic. We have a few favourite spots and we go no matter what the weather. We've had a picnic in the car with snow falling before!

Bequinha213 · 18/02/2017 14:40

We go to mass in the morning then we have a nice lunch usually seafood followed by duck or lamb and to finish we do an egg hunt.

LeeR1985 · 18/02/2017 14:57

Every year i have a little easter egg hunt with my daughter. She loves it :)

sarah861421 · 18/02/2017 15:02

we have always had a big roast followed by a long walk, but this year neither child is coming home from Uni, so we might go straight for the long walk.

Easter is pretty low key in our house. We're a Catholic family so we attend Mass every day during Holy week, and without wishing to sound bible bashy it's more of a religious festival for us than a commercial thing. Christmas has got way out of hand as regards over commercialisation, and it seems Easter is now going the same way!

I usually cook a roast - some years we'll have lamb but normally chicken as our kids enjoy that more. We definitely don't invite anyone round - our dining table is just about big enough for the five of us! I don't know where we'd seat anyone else!!!

We usually buy the boys an Easter egg each as well as a selection of things like mini eggs, chocolate bunny etc that we give them in a nice Easter bag. Somehow I never got round to doing "the Easter bunny" so it's just off us. We also buy eggs for our nieces and nephews, but that's it as far as "gifting" goes. I don't go in for Easter decorations either.

I probably sound like a bit of a misery guts, but in all honesty Easter has never been much of a "thing" in my family!

We always have a egg hunt then we have a nice lamb roast for dinner... :)

hayley00 · 18/02/2017 16:12

going for a walk on the beach and having a nice meal..it's normally a quiet day really

jlwells1986 · 18/02/2017 16:33

My children have dairy and soya allergies so its very difficult to find easter treats for them. I manage to get them a free from egg and then buy lots of arts and crafts to make up for their lack of eggs :-) we also have a hairdo easter hunt which they love :-)

PrincessWizard · 18/02/2017 16:39

In the run up we do some easter crafts and decorate the house. I love crafting and have made lots of little bits over the years. We always go to the inlaws for Easter weekend, the dcs love it as all the cousins are together.

MIL does an Easter egg hunt in the (huge!) garden for the dcs, then we go out for a walk and back to roast lamb with all the trimmings Smile

pennwood · 18/02/2017 16:44

The traditional exchanging of Easter eggs, & usually an egg hunt too. A big family get together for roast dinner.

fazkin · 18/02/2017 16:48

We gather round my parents for a meal but every one brings in a dish each atleast. There are plenty of different chocolates and tonnes of crafts made by all the grand kids

hmariez · 18/02/2017 16:56

Easter egg hunt and a trip to cadburys world 💖

nettymay · 18/02/2017 17:25

We have an easter egg hunt in the woods - weather permitting!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 18/02/2017 17:28

Well this year is mother in laws birthday so will be a mini surprise party. However normally the in laws will do a special Easter egg hunt for the kids with mini eggs and dairy free treats with a surprise at the end. Then we all sit down and have a roast with all the trimmings. My husband will make a cheesecake then it's film or if the kids don't want to watch some crafts for them.

Sillysausage123 · 18/02/2017 18:25

Easter is when we go craft crazy!
Usually the school has decorate a egg competition and we went overboard last year and made hogwarts with Voldemort and Harry Potter.
Love Easter as the weather starts brightening up and so we go out for day trips

Theimpossiblegirl · 18/02/2017 19:52

Our Easter is very traditional. I'm not comfortable with it being promoted in the same commercial way as Christmas. We go to church and take advantage of the Bank Holiday to see family, have a roast and do an egg hunt with the children.

Some of DD's friends get expensive Easter presents now, it's ridiculous.

I'm also really glad shops have to shut for Easter and think the same should be done on Boxing Day (blows chance of winning a voucher).

Cathp808 · 18/02/2017 19:54

Our Easter tradition is that we go to the inlaws for a roast dinner. But while the dinner is cooking my children's grandad has an easter egg hunt in the garden which they love.

flamingtoaster · 18/02/2017 19:54

We always have a turkey at Christmas - a full roast dinner with all the trimmings. I also make a favourite family pudding for afterwards. The children have a choice of having an Easter egg or an Easter present - it's entirely up to them. We have a walk round the local country park after lunch.

mellyjt · 18/02/2017 19:55

Easter egg hunt in the morning and a massive Christmas dinner in the afternoon

Marg2k8 · 18/02/2017 20:00

We don't really celebrate Easter in a big way, although I will buy eggs for the children in the family.

emmmaaa26 · 18/02/2017 20:08

Roast dinner, lots of chocolate and a good movie.

bugzie92 · 18/02/2017 20:18

We are going to do an easter egg hunt this year! my DS is 4 so is beginning to understand holidays a bit more now, so it will be fun! we did a christmas eve box hunt this year and he loved it! so I think he will enjoy the hunt :) and obviously the chocolate too :)

Portabella24 · 18/02/2017 20:27

We have a family day at Easter which always takes the pressure off Christmas. My DH comes from a big family and everyone gets together (we rotate the biggest houses) and brings a couple of dishes. The kids all get eggs and it's just a lovely tradition now.
