With Easter fast approaching, Lidl would love to hear how you celebrate!

Meal - do you get the family together over a huge feast? If so is it the traditional lamb roast or do you embrace spring with a BBQ or something completely different?

Gifting - if you got out of cooking and are visiting family instead, do you take flowers – maybe lovely spring daffodils or a favourite wine for the chef? And let's not forget chocolate - are you into fancy eggs, chocolate animals or do you manage to keep Easter sweet free?

Activities - How do you keep your DC entertained during the run up to Easter? Do you do an Easter egg hunt? Do you bake something special or decorate eggs or do particular arts and crafts?

So share your Easter celebrations on this thread, and everyone who posts below will be entered into a prize draw where five winners will each get £50 to spend in Lidl.

Thanks and good luck!

A big roast lamb dinner and then an Easter egg hunt with the children

towser44 · 18/02/2017 20:39

If it's a late Easter and we are lucky with the weather, we try to get the tent out for the first weekend of the year and spend the weekend eating copious amounts of chocolate and chilling in the countryside!

arat · 18/02/2017 21:05

Easter isn't a big thing for us. Used to do egg hunts, but DCs have grown out of that! They get some small chocolate treats, but we now spend more on some new toys or books for them (which all helps keep them occupied in school hols)

stefalfie11 · 18/02/2017 21:11

All of the family are coming to us where we'll have a lamb roast and then an easter egg hunt for the children and lots of catching up and fun and games. Really looking forward to it already!

pfcpompeysarah · 18/02/2017 21:32

We don't do an easter egg hunt or anything like that, but we go for a nice meal all together as a family in a countryside pub and then we work off the calories with a nice walk in the area.

MSHGW · 18/02/2017 21:49

We don't really do big celebrations for Easter. We just have the chocolate eggs.

YerTiz · 18/02/2017 22:17

We do a trail of small chocolate eggs from DC's room, around the house and to a small pile of easter eggs/gifts from us and other family (not masses of stuff but a nice little pile). We started this when eldest DC was 2, and he loved picking up the 'eggons' (acorns) - big Totoro fan! - so it's stuck.

I always like the idea of a walk somewhere and a roast, but the best thing about Easter is it's so relaxed! We chill out and eat too much chocolate together, make the obligatory cornflake nests and catch up with family if we can.

We have an easter bunny come visit when the kiddies sleep and then they leave a fun Easter egg hunt the next morning. We usually enjoy Easter crafts and go to any local Easter events too during the school holidays.

foxessocks · 18/02/2017 22:50

We have roast lamb usually at my mum's. Easter eggs for everyone. Easter egg hunt for the little ones.

123julie321 · 18/02/2017 23:52

We celebrate with a biiiiig family get together. We usually serve a big buffet of finger foods (pizza, chips kind of style) but if the weather's nice we might do a BBQ too. We all swap Easter eggs and other yummies. Me and DD like to do lots of baking in the run up. Last year, we made delicious caramelised apple buns and they were a huge hit, so we'll definitely make them again this year! x

Easter eggs for my kids

BathshebaDarkstone · 19/02/2017 05:28

Meal, we usually have lamb, just the four of us.

Gifting, we either buy Easter eggs or toys, whichever the DC prefer that year.

Activities, we try to find local Easter egg hunts. Also we buy craft kits. School has an Easter bonnet parade on the last day of term too.

EasterRobin · 19/02/2017 06:47

Always a delicious roast lamb for a big family meal with wider family gathering for the weekend from our respective cities.

DD is too young (2) for much chocolate so that doesn't feature yet except for crafting purposes (eg putting icing sugar designs onto an egg). We do lots of crafts and decorating. We also have a much loved egg hunt game with cardboard eggs that we hide in a room for DD to find.

TheseAreTheGoodOldDays · 19/02/2017 07:40

An Easter hunt on the morning - Easter bunny leaves clues to help DSD find her eggs/gifts (usually craft bits, or a new dress to wear that day)

Then depending on the weather we might pop to the local park who usually have some sort of activities :)

Then onto my parents for lunch! Which is always lamb, with all the trimmings, delicious 😋

Usually when we leave we would pop to various other houses to deliver eggs for nieces/nephews/godchildren etc

I love Easter as I was born on Easter Sunday. My dad was too (different dates) so growing up it was a special time. Now I have 2 dcs DM does an egg hunt in her garden of plastic eggs with treats inside. We usually get together for lunch and give chocolate to the kids. Then we head out for a walk on the beach and come back for tea and hot cross buns.

Mozarmstrong · 19/02/2017 09:07

All the family across Easter weekend. Hide eggs around the house n garden adults sometimes more excited than little ones! Nice bottle wine for me! Juices nice teas n coffees on offer all weekend. It's a bring something to the table for meals and let's Enjoy Another SessionTogether Ever Right!!

AnimalAddict · 19/02/2017 09:35

A delicious roast dinner then an Easter egg hunt :)

asuwere · 19/02/2017 09:40

We will go on a walk of witness through our town on Good Friday, then our church has an Easter egg hunt on the Saturday, then church on Easter Sunday. We don't have a special meal, just usual roast dinner. We don't do presents and don't buy chocolate eggs (sometimes reduced ones afterwards though!)

vixxx666 · 19/02/2017 11:07

If it's nice we go to the beach, if not we do crafts and play board games! We also make time to visit family.

AnneOfCleavage · 19/02/2017 11:13

I usually host as have a big dining table. Roast dinner which I cook, dessert which 12yr old DD makes and other family members bring wine & nibbles.
I do an Easter egg hunt with cardboard eggs and then once they've found those they have to solve cryptic clues to find the whereabouts of their eggs. Each child gets different clues depending on age.
I also hold an Easter party for my DD friends every year which involves craft making of some kind, egg hunt & boiled eggs for lunch. Once eggs have been eaten they put cotton wool & cress seeds in and put a funny face on shell with googly eyes etc to take home. Every year I do different craft & change the hunt style a bit to mix things up as some children are the same each year!
Love Easter and always decorate the house with a white branched tree with eggs hanging off it, lots of yellow & green paper hangings & daffodils & tulips everywhere. Looks so fresh and bright.
I don't go mad on chocolate eggs. Just one biggish one for each DC but not grown ups.
We have bunnies too so they add to the Easter experience Grin

andymorris · 19/02/2017 11:48

its mostly revolved around chocolate easter eggs with the family

21Catherine21 · 19/02/2017 12:43

We always try (weather permitting) to go out and find an Easter orientated event if we can and the usual Easter egg hunt for the little ones is the favourite, finishing the day off with a nice family meal out :0

grannybiker · 19/02/2017 12:44

We always do an Easter egg hunt with those small, foil wrapped eggs. The children prepare by making / decorating their own basket, (Depending on whether we can find last year's!)
I love how they then spend the next few days hiding their booty again for each other!

ICanSeeYourPixelss · 19/02/2017 13:11

We do lots of Easter baking together and have a huge family Easter egg hunt in our garden Smile
