With Easter fast approaching, Lidl would love to hear how you celebrate!

Meal - do you get the family together over a huge feast? If so is it the traditional lamb roast or do you embrace spring with a BBQ or something completely different?

Gifting - if you got out of cooking and are visiting family instead, do you take flowers – maybe lovely spring daffodils or a favourite wine for the chef? And let's not forget chocolate - are you into fancy eggs, chocolate animals or do you manage to keep Easter sweet free?

Activities - How do you keep your DC entertained during the run up to Easter? Do you do an Easter egg hunt? Do you bake something special or decorate eggs or do particular arts and crafts?

So share your Easter celebrations on this thread, and everyone who posts below will be entered into a prize draw where five winners will each get £50 to spend in Lidl.

Thanks and good luck!

We spend Easter at home as family and treat it almost like a second Christmas - though nowhere near as expensive! We have a huge roast dinner - always lamb - with all the trimmings.
We arrange an Easter egg hunt in our fairly large garden for the children and they adore it. We make bonnets and Easter nests.
We give our children a giant kinder egg most years, but sometimes grab some smaller ones when on offer/cheap and give these too, we tend not to buy clothes/toys. Our parents both buy them an egg each too! We love Easter Smile

We bake easter egg cupcakes, have an egg painting or easter bonnet competiton and then an egg hunt. I usually do a party buffet for later as well to keep the fun going!

WayUpHigh · 01/03/2017 11:07

We normally do an Easter egg hunt in the house first thing then go out for the day as a family.

I normally buy one dairy free egg and some toys/books for DS and a few chocolate treats for DP. I love toasted got cross buns so look forward to them making an appearance in the supermarkets.

Itmustbemyage · 01/03/2017 11:20

We go egg rolling at the local park, lots of families go and roll their eggs down a long grassy slope.
We use those shrink wrappy things on the eggs, they last a lot more "go's" that way. We keep rolling them until they fall apart, then we collect the bits, the seagulls clear any eggy bits left after everyone has gone home.
We then play in the park and have a wee snack in the park café.

We usually have a nice roast on the Sunday, usually turkey, and eat Easter Eggs. That is the extent of our Easter celebrations. I might do an egg hunt for my DD and friend when we go on holiday.

Lovely lamb dinner on Easter Sunday with family.

I've had to ask friends and family to limit the Easter eggs this year as ds had 10 last year. This year he will have eggs from grandparents only, so hopefully he will more interested in the lamb dinner as he won't be bouncing off the walls full of chocolate!

Jenniferb21 · 01/03/2017 17:48

We always have a lovely Sunday dinner and visit family.

This year we have our own little easter bunny and will be doing a little Easter egg hunt in the garden. I've bought some very large eggs, bunting and a little basket for him.

Of course I then eat my body weight in Easter eggs and if DH gets me the caramel wispa one I'll be very pleased Smile

we go to church and have an easter egg hunt for the kids then a nice family dinner

Ragwort · 02/03/2017 08:01

Nothing special now that DS is a teenager - Church (which we do every Sunday anyway) and then a normal Sunday ............ very dull. We buy DS an Easter Egg but that's about it. Years ago we made a 'rule' never to travel far on Bank Holidays due to traffic issues and we tend to stick that.

AngelDog · 02/03/2017 08:46

We have a meal together after church and read the accounts of Easter from the Bible. We don't do any specific activities, but the grandparents usually do an Easter treasure hunt to find those irritating little fluffy chick toys which come in their hundreds and are mostly thrown away by the next day.

We don't do Easter eggs, but usually buy the boys a book instead.

glad25 · 02/03/2017 14:00

I always do an easter egg hunt for my children

aggga8 · 02/03/2017 16:02

Easter Saturday we are going to church with basket with food to do food blessing. Sunday all family coming for breakfast and dinner, we all day eat and go for walk. Also we do easter egg hunt in the garden.

becky004 · 02/03/2017 18:53

We have an Easter Egg hunt in the local country park, followed by a Sunday roast at home with extended family.

peronel · 02/03/2017 19:20

Will probably rent a cottage and hide Easter eggs in the garden. Before we go I will bake a simnel cake.

chrismse · 03/03/2017 18:01

We are quite traditional, hot cross buns and fish on Good Friday, Roast and Easter Egg hunt on Easter Sunday. Walks and visiting on Easter Monday. It`s all about family really.

Dixiestamp · 05/03/2017 02:46

In the days before Easter Sunday it's the law (no, really) that we have to make chocolate rice crispy cake nests with
chocolate eggs on top and also eat hot cross buns. On Easter Sunday we have an Easter Egg hunt with clues before going to church, then afterwards we have a big family roast dinner.

goldenretriever1978 · 05/03/2017 07:51

Meal is just a traditional Sunday roast dinner. Gifting is Easter eggs only. Activities is usually an Easter egg hunt for the children.

meggysar · 05/03/2017 18:37

A Easter Egg hunt followed by lots of chocolate eating and games.

juju3 · 05/03/2017 20:44

We all get Easter Eggs and just enjoy them - simples

Anj123 · 05/03/2017 21:35

Even though my daughter no longer believes in the Easter bunny, we hide chocolate eggs around the house with clues and she searches for them. We do this if we are away on holiday too. The chocolate is always shared with the parents!!

AVT5 · 06/03/2017 13:22

we start the day with an inside easter treasure hunt. we give the girls a map with crosses where the eggs ate in the house. they share them after, but its fun! we then go to my dads for a xmas/sunday lunch type dinner where they get a chocolate hamper!

rocketriffs · 06/03/2017 21:54

The Easter egg hunt with the kids is great fun. The house, garage, shed and garden become a Treasure Island with maps and clues where to find the precious eggs. We'll have a barbeque if the weather permits.

Smellophant87 · 06/03/2017 22:29

We don't do a lot as we are not religious, but if the weather is nice we paint hard boiled eggs and roll them down a sand dune near us; and, of course, there are lots of chocolate eggs involved!

sarahw2 · 07/03/2017 12:19

We have a big family roast dinner, always lamb, my favourite! We also take our two boys on an egg hunt, and usually for a family day out if the weather is nice. Love Easter!

Angelkimmy · 07/03/2017 12:34
