Fairy Non Bio is sponsoring the Mumsnet Talk App and in light of this they’d like to see what you have to talk about when it comes to your household washing schedule. Do you manage to get by on just a couple of loads a week or do four a day just to keep up with your kids? Perhaps you’re lucky enough to be able to send it all away to be done for you? Do you have a set day for each kind of washing load or just shove things in as they look like they might need doing? Whatever your washing schedule, let Fairy Non Bio know by sharing in a post below.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “Fairy Non Bio is good for anyone who wants a softer, more sensitive wash (that still leaves clothes clean!). Its gentle formula promises to be kind to both your clothes and your skin, and so it’s suitable for the whole family, no matter how many washes you’re doing each week.”

So, alongside the Fairy Non Bio sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, they’d like you to talk about the washing schedule your household has. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks, and good luck with the prize draw!

I do three washes a week on average though depends on the week and how much mess my six month old has made! Three of us (me, partner, DD). One tends to be bedding, towels etc. thrown in together and two a random assortment of clothes. I don't separate whites, darks etc. Blush

tshirtsuntan · 13/12/2016 20:45

2 people here and usually about 6 loads a week.

Roomba · 13/12/2016 21:03

There's 3 of us - me and 2 kids. One who is good at avoiding mess but just hitting puberty and STINKS of BO if he doesn't wash/change clothes frequently, and a 4 year old who is utterly filthy by the end of a school day. I have an 8kg washing machine so can get loads in at once. In a week, I tend to do:

3-4 dark loads - 2 at 60 degrees (due to BO issue, used to do most at 40) and 1 or 2 at 40

2 whites half loads - school shirts, rare white items of mine

1 load of towels

1 load of bedding

That sounds like loads when I add it up, but I just stick a load on every morning before going out and hang up when I get in. I used to do most of it at the weekend but then felt like I never did anything but washing on my days off! Have to say, my life was much simpler when I had a working tumble drier. I can't afford to replace it, so my house is always draped in loads of washing in varying states of dryness.

Onenerfwarfrombreakdown · 13/12/2016 21:09

Me DH DS and DDog

1 x whites (school shirts, judo suit)
1 x pants, socks, nightwear
1 x delicates (wool jumpers, nice undies, delicate tops etc)
1 or sometimes 2 x colours/jeans
1 or more towels (I use some in my work)
Bedding every 2 weeks - that's a couple of loads as our super king duvet cover needs to go in on its own.
Dog bed cover/mat - every 2 weeks or when theres time/it's smelly.

So usually a load a day, more if I'm busy at work and have extra towels.

spottymoo · 13/12/2016 21:46

At least 13 loads a week their 3 of us plus dss at weekends.

7 loads a weeks which is a mixture of darks lights and colours whites tend to go on over night as I like to do them on a longer wash rather than daily wash

3 loads of towels dd swims 6 times a week plus normal towels.

2 loads for bedding always done on Wednesday as it takes so long to dry even in the tumble dryer.

1 dog blankets done on a Friday.

It seems never ending and totally throws me out if I miss I day after holidays it goes to the laundrette.

BlackeyedPetitsPois · 13/12/2016 21:53

2 adults and 2 small children here.

I think I do between 3 and 5 loads per week depending on how much messy play the kids do at nursery and school!!

magentastardust · 13/12/2016 22:41

Probably 5-7 a week. The washing machine is on most days - There are 2 adults and 3 children. School uniform, football kit, dancing clothes on top of usual day to day clothes, towels and bedding soon adds up! Just a constant battle trying to get them all dried !

arabella99 · 14/12/2016 07:27

We do about 8 but I am sure that's because they are not all full. And no schedule, I just make sure there will be somewhere to hang them up to dry as we are short on space. I think towels are the biggest items, we get through lots of those.

sianihedgehog · 14/12/2016 09:40

Probably three or four loads a week now. When DS was tiny I often had to do two a day, though!!

jenlou89 · 14/12/2016 10:16

I do 3 loads of towels a week, 2 loads of bedding (3 beds), three uniform washes, and two big washes of main clothes. And then extra if needed if kids are vomiting, curtains or throws need doing etc

Festivecheer2 · 14/12/2016 10:54

My washing machine lives for Thursdays as it tends to get a day off. Usually stick a load on before work and one, sometimes two, when I get home. Washing would probably be never ending but have to carefully work it out around the drying schedule.
So light and dark for adults and kids every other day, towels twice a week, adult bedding twice, kids once, bath mats, hand towels once, swimming load once a week etc and on and on it goes ...

StickChildNumberTwo · 14/12/2016 12:30

We average one load a day for clothes etc (all shoved in together unless there's something I think might run in which case I try and keep it away from anything pale), plus nappies every 3 days.

Firewall · 14/12/2016 12:31

At least 5 and then there's the occasional coats/jumper wash and in the summer, duvets pillows and all the large items that need to air dry.

RhodaBull · 14/12/2016 13:18

My life is ruled by washing. I do at least one load a day and put it on heated dryer, then in the summer I do as many loads as possible and dry outside, including hanging stuff in the guttering Blush . I am constantly scanning the sky and poring over the MetOffice site in order to expedite the greatest amount of washing and drying.

There are four of us but I think there must be seven extra people hiding in the shed who sneak clothes onto the washing mountain.

PorridgeAgainAbney · 14/12/2016 14:16

Two adults and one child.

Two or three clothes loads during the week so they hopefully dry by the weekend.

Two loads of bedding/towels at the weekend on a hot wash with a few soft toys thrown in (dust mite allergy + soft toy obsession Grin)

Maybe another load of clothes at the weekend if there's enough room on the airers Smile

AlwaysaLittleBitTired · 14/12/2016 15:10

I always use Fairy NonBio as it doesn't irritate my DH's skin. When we had our children we continued using it for the same reason (along with the Fairy conditioner too).

  • 4 loads per week to deal with the clothes mountain (2 mixed pale at 40 degrees and 2 darks at 30 degrees)
  • 1 towels wash per week; and
  • fortnightly 2 additional washes to deal with the bedding.

There are 4 of us in the house.

Goldenhandshake · 14/12/2016 17:19

Usually at least one a day, if I skip a day I regret it as it builds up so quick, minimum 2 dark washes a week, one white, two colours, one towels, one bedding.

Got a new washing machine beginning of the year with an 8KG drum so being able to do a bigger load helps.

crazydaisyuk · 14/12/2016 17:36

We do about 4 or 5 loads a week & it's me, 2 teenagers and a little pre schooler.

PlymouthMaid1 · 14/12/2016 17:49

Only two to three normally unless washing the dogs blankets. I bung all people washing in together.

ShakeofFara · 14/12/2016 18:17

We do an average of 12 loads a week Blush. 5 of us (6 if eldest home from Uni). Towels are gone through at an incredible rate!

jammydodgersplease · 14/12/2016 19:28

Around 7, if we miss a day then we end up doing extra another day. 1 x White at the weekend and the rest are mixed.

not as many as I should, but more than I want to. This is why we have an extra large washing machine!

Andcake · 14/12/2016 20:56

2 adults one 4 yo - 2 washes a week.

Snog · 14/12/2016 22:41

3 of us in our house
I usually do one load per day so as not to have to dry too much at one time. I wash either whites, colours or very occasionally use the hand wash cycle.
I have 2 bins to collect clothes for washing, one for whites and one for colours and I wash whichever bin is fullest each day. Laundry is the only housework that I enjoy!
