Fairy Non Bio is sponsoring the Mumsnet Talk App and in light of this they’d like to see what you have to talk about when it comes to your household washing schedule. Do you manage to get by on just a couple of loads a week or do four a day just to keep up with your kids? Perhaps you’re lucky enough to be able to send it all away to be done for you? Do you have a set day for each kind of washing load or just shove things in as they look like they might need doing? Whatever your washing schedule, let Fairy Non Bio know by sharing in a post below.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “Fairy Non Bio is good for anyone who wants a softer, more sensitive wash (that still leaves clothes clean!). Its gentle formula promises to be kind to both your clothes and your skin, and so it’s suitable for the whole family, no matter how many washes you’re doing each week.”

So, alongside the Fairy Non Bio sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, they’d like you to talk about the washing schedule your household has. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks, and good luck with the prize draw!

Id say at least 5-6 washes per week. I'm really careful with colours, so I do a separate pink/red/orange wash 1x per week, I have a dark work uniform so do a dark wash at least 2x per week. School uniform is blue so 2x blue/grey/green/yellow. Then 1 white wash. I also do extra washes for bedding and delicates.

shrunkenhead · 09/12/2016 00:30

Just two adults and one dd so we only do 2-3 washes a week. We might do more in the summer when it's sunny and can get loads dried. We don't have a tumble dryer so are restricted by drying space.

Anuvvername · 09/12/2016 00:32

Approx 8 - family of 4. Try to reduce it but it never quite works!

Barabajagal · 09/12/2016 00:36

Two adults, two teens and two primary age children here. I reckon I do about 14 loads a week with bedding and towels.

IHaveACuntingPlan · 09/12/2016 03:58

We do a full load of washing every day - we have to because it builds up to mountainous proportions if we don't. I'd love to be able to get through more than this (well, I wouldn't; I'd rather not have to do any washing at all because I hate it) but unless it's sunny and a bit breezy outside we just can't get more than one load a day dry as we don't have a tumble drier and instead have to play washing jigsaws with the airer and the radiators. We don't bother separating out the colours and the whites or the different materials; it all gets shoved in together and put on a 40℃ normal cycle. We don't have a laundry routine either. Things just get plucked out of the basket (or when the dc get undressed at the end of the day they put their clothes straight in the machine) and washed, although sometimes we purposefully do a towel or bedding wash whenever it's needed.

Whattocallbabyboy · 09/12/2016 04:19

At least 8 or 9.

Soon will add another 3/4 loads due to baby and cloth nappies?

onitlikeacarbonnet · 09/12/2016 04:50

If I'm honest, I'm one of those slatterns who rarely changes a bed (apart from ds's as he wets his at least once a week Sad)
I don't have set days but probably do 3-4 coloured washes. 1 white wash and 2-3 'dirty' washes (bedlinen, towels, tea towels, dishcloths etc) so my machine is averaging 1 load a day. There's me and 2 primary age DC.
It's more likely I do 2 every other day though as it takes longer to dry stuff indoors just now (no tumble Sad since we moved after me and my stbxh split) I miss my tumble dryer (and my long promised utility room I'll never have. Cheating stbxh; not so much Grin

2 adults

1 x bedding a week, 60 degrees with special laundry bleach

1 x white clothing and white towels 60 degrees

1 x pastels and pale clothing 40 degrees

1 x darks 40 degrees

All washed with powder and fabric conditioner

Thirdload · 09/12/2016 07:24

Maybe 5 a week although my small children have sickness bugs so it's more like 6-7 loads a day at the moment. The tumble dryer is a godsend.

CheeseAtFourpence · 09/12/2016 07:27

2 adults a child and a dog. Works out about 10-13 washes a week.

Towels x 2
Bedding x 2
Whites x 2
Darks x 2
Dog blankets/sofa covers x 1

Actually listing it like that...I bet it's sometimes more. We some to go through tonnes of washing tablets!

earthmoon · 09/12/2016 07:31

Two adults and two young children here so every other day. It depends on the washing machine capacity as just last year before the baby was born it was on daily.

aristocat · 09/12/2016 08:20

2 adults and 2 teenagers here, I wash everyday. Often 2 loads a day Smile it sounds a lot when I write it down. Perhaps 12 loads/week?
No tumble dryer here so it's a constant circle of wet/ dry clothes. I love the summer when I can get washing outside Grin

DeepestBlues · 09/12/2016 08:36

At least 10 washes per week - clothes, towels and bedding for me, DP, adult DS and two teen DDs. More if eldest teen DD brings home lots of clothing/towels from outdoor activities Smile
We try to use the 'quick' wash cycle and lowest temperatures possible otherwise the washing machine would be on for hours!

Bringmewineandcake · 09/12/2016 09:28

I end up washing most days. Often dictated by my DD having an accident so needing to do yet another lights wash! The woolly stuff rarely gets done, just sits in the bottom of the basket. I seem to just wash the same stuff over and over again. I use fairy non bio as we all have sensitive skin but recently stopped using fabric softener as it didn't seem to be doing anything at all.

Luvleamum · 09/12/2016 09:53

Currently 4-5 a week and the baby isn't here yet. I asked my partner how many he did before I was on the scene and he said 3. Just goes to show it's not only women who wear 2 outfits a day.

Symbista · 09/12/2016 11:28

Around 5 a week, alternating light and dark. Ds1 is 3 and ds2 is 6 months. It feels never ending! I can't put it on in the evening as it's next to ds1's bedroom so I fill it and put powder in etc before I go to bed, then put it straight on in the morning.

pinkunicornsarefluffy · 09/12/2016 12:07

2-3 loads a week for me and DC. Washing is usually done at the weekend when I have time to do it.

catgirl2 · 09/12/2016 12:32

4-5 a week for us. Me DH and two young kids. Fling it on whenever I get a mo. DH good at doing the same.

Haffdonga · 09/12/2016 13:51

Probably averages 6 to 8 for us (2 adults, one muddy football playing teen and a prodigal uni student bringing home the term's detritus). It's more now I insist our grown up dcs do their own and they are incapable of forward planning so will wash a single item at midnight for the next day Hmm

Alansgoldfish · 09/12/2016 13:51

I do about 10 loads a week. As and when things get dirty.

Gazelda · 09/12/2016 15:08

2 adults, 1 child

2 dark loads, 40degrees
1 or 2 light loads, 40 degrees
1 load towels, 60 degrees
1 load bedding, 60 degrees
1 load whites, 40 degrees

All non-bio, plus I use oxy-Whitner for the white load.

UpOnDown · 09/12/2016 15:08

I get away with 2 washes a week.

letsgetcake · 09/12/2016 15:29

2 adults and 1 14 month old although we have horses so mud is our friend! We do a minimum of seven loads a week of which one is white as has my uniform in and 1 is bedding. Id say average is more often 8 or 9 though!

Fairylea · 09/12/2016 15:32

Tons!

There's 4 of us including a disabled child who frequently gets very messy!

I do about 3 general washes a day and one load of bedding / towels about every other day. Shock

Tanfastic · 09/12/2016 15:34

About three a week, there's three of us. Normally two coloureds, one whites.
