Fairy Non Bio is sponsoring the Mumsnet Talk App and in light of this they’d like to see what you have to talk about when it comes to your household washing schedule. Do you manage to get by on just a couple of loads a week or do four a day just to keep up with your kids? Perhaps you’re lucky enough to be able to send it all away to be done for you? Do you have a set day for each kind of washing load or just shove things in as they look like they might need doing? Whatever your washing schedule, let Fairy Non Bio know by sharing in a post below.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “Fairy Non Bio is good for anyone who wants a softer, more sensitive wash (that still leaves clothes clean!). Its gentle formula promises to be kind to both your clothes and your skin, and so it’s suitable for the whole family, no matter how many washes you’re doing each week.”

So, alongside the Fairy Non Bio sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, they’d like you to talk about the washing schedule your household has. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks, and good luck with the prize draw!

Two adults, three children and I do at minimum 2 loads per day, at least half the week I do 3 loads. I don't know where it all comes from!

barfotoliv · 10/12/2016 21:21

At least one wash a day, usually two. If I don't do at least one I find by the following day it really builds up which can be a problem for us in the winter as we have no tumble drier and rely on our radiators to dry clothes in this damp winter weather. We do most washes on an 50 degree quick wash except for drying clothes, dishcloths and bed linen which gets 60.

Colours usually 2 a week
Whites 1
Towels 1 or 2
Bedding 2
This is a typical week now the older DC have left home the washing load has eased considerably.

smithsurvey14 · 10/12/2016 21:55

On a lucky week (not a bedding week) just 2 washes, 1 white and 1 colour. On the occasion that my teenage DD has tidied her room then I have to do an extra white, dark and a red just to catch up. If my 6 year old can keep his school jumpers relatively clean I try to wash just at the weekends but on an average (dirty) school week I probably end up washing 5-6 loads.

Purplehonesty · 10/12/2016 23:01

Maybe 10?
There's me dh and two dc
Then my dn and his mum
So three lots of uniforms, three lots of kids clothes, 5 beds and all our clothes too
My washing machine is making a right racket now it sounds like it's taking off!
I do use fairy non bio in it tho otherwise dds skin goes a mess with any other washing powder

123julie321 · 10/12/2016 23:54

Usually about 8. 2 white loads, 1 towel load, 1 bedding load and 4 colour washes and usually one delicate hand wash for my bras! The kids have so many uniforms and outfits to get washed- school uniforms, PE kits, gymnastics, rugby, karate, etc.

Grindelwaldswand · 11/12/2016 00:10

We do 2-3 loads a week
One work clothes at 40°c
One towels at 90°c
And one normal clothes on 30°c
We wash bedding in big loads once a month once we have 2-3 sets to go in. Because its quite a big washer/dryer

MiddleClassProblem · 11/12/2016 00:49

3-4 a week but no set days, just when the bin is full or something specific needs washing in a hurry I muster things up to go with it

ButterflyOfFreedom · 11/12/2016 08:10

The washing machine seems to be on every other day so on average about 3 times a week.
Usually 2 lots of mixed coloured clothes then 1 lot of bedding or towels.
There are 4 if us - 2 adults and 2 toddlers.

EyesOfABlueDog · 11/12/2016 09:01

2 adults & 1 child here. I usually do 3 - 4 loads a week. I don't have a particular day, I just do it when the machine is full.

itsonlysubterfuge · 11/12/2016 09:15

I don't do the washing every week, I wait until it piles up and then it's probably about 6-8 washes.

JulesJules · 11/12/2016 09:55

Family of four, the washing machine is on every day, probably do at least 10 loads a week, plus the 'handwashing' ( ie on the handwashing programme on the machine - I don't do any actual hand washing with my hands Grin)

herebehippos · 11/12/2016 10:42

13-15. There are 5 of us and there swimming, school uniforms, shirts, bras and woollens that all get a separate wash once a week. Then here's towels, 2 loads of bed linen, tea towels/ bath mats on alternate weeks, 2 loads of children's clothes and then a whole load of grown up stuff!

PickAChew · 11/12/2016 11:01

We get through 8-10 big loads and 3-4 smaller loads of delicates, whites, muddy from top to toe stuff etc, each week.

With 2 messy lads with SN, it's a rare moment when I get the lid on the laundry basket.

TheDisreputableDog · 11/12/2016 12:35

Averages at about 5 I should think. Sometimes ends up being 3 in a day of I'm working from home and have the opportunity. Darks, colours, lights, towels or bedding plus usually one for my running stuff. The odd 15min one to rinse anything that has been in a toddler accident and needs immediate attention!

poppy1973 · 11/12/2016 14:48

2 adults and 2 children. I am not that organised, so generally get all of the washing put on a Saturday and finish it off by Sunday.

2 coloured loads, 1 white load, 1 towel load. Generally. I might do a quick wash on a Wednesday if I need clean tights and school pinafore for my daughter if we have run out.
My washing basket is generally chock a block before I find the time to put the washing on!!

MavolioBent · 11/12/2016 15:13

2 adults and 4 dc.

The washing machine seems to be constantly going! I do at least 1 mixed load a day just to keep on top of it. Some days I do 3 loads. If I take a day off it multiplies at a terrifying rate.

YesThisIsMe · 11/12/2016 15:16

In an average week I'd do:

White cottons
Reds (red/pink duvet covers and dressing gowns and some red uniform)
Dark delicates
Light delicates
Dark cotton (probably two loads of that because it includes towels)
Miscellaneous synthetics

So that's seven loads in all, almost all done at the weekend.

roundandroundthehouses · 11/12/2016 16:20

Bedclothes x2 or 3
Lights x1
Darks x2
Uniforms x1
Towels x1 or 2

So 7-9 loads per week, plus dd1 (17) does 1 load per week of her own non-school clothes.

roundandroundthehouses · 11/12/2016 16:21

Forgot my whites load! So there's another. Making 8-10 a week plus one by dd1 Shock

Bbee · 11/12/2016 17:22

4 of us and to keep on top of it as I really dislike it building up I generally do 2-3 loads every other day plus towels, bedding, tea towels and tablecloth, cleaning cloths etc. Sometimes I now do an item which is delicate in the machine instead of hand washing. A set day/days would be nice but it's not always possible but I love to have everything done so the weekend basket is at a minimum. The winter washes are more which is annoying as they are not so easy to dry.

purplepandas · 11/12/2016 18:09

Prob around seven including bedding and towels etc. A load most days and two or three on weekend to catch up.

Bunkai · 11/12/2016 18:48

For myself and two DCs (10 & 8)

I do one load of whites.

Then 5-8 other loads. DS1 does have continence issues though so will be higher than most. Also both my DSs love to wallow in mud at school. I'm more surprised if they come home clean!

Love Fairy non bio btw.
