To celebrate Fairy Non Bio’s sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, we’ve launched The Great Mumsnet Laundry Debate - as with all great Wink series, it's a three-parter. Part I was all about how often you wash your bed sheets and part II is about how much you wash your bra...

Bra washing can not only be time consuming but can also require a bit of brain power. First there’s the conundrum of how to wash them, then there’s how often to wash them. Do you put them on a gentle hand-wash setting with a delicate detergent? Do you put them in a mesh bag to protect the straps from getting caught up with other items? Perhaps you only put them in a machine with other light clothing so the elastic doesn’t get stretched by towels and jeans? Or maybe you simply bung them in with everything and put them on a 40C wash? The options can make your brain hurt. So how often do you wash your bra? Are you the kind of person who can’t wear a bra more than once? Or maybe you can wear it for a week?

Whatever your bra-washing process, share it with Fairy Non Bio in the thread below, and maybe even give us a live update from the Mumsnet Talk App as you’re waiting for the load to finish. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I always wash mine by hand by soaking overnight then into hot water the day after

carolineandryanandseb · 26/11/2016 15:48

I know I don't wash mine enough! wear for a week or more between washes, although I am breastfeeding atm so it's off or down more than on anyway!

Dormouse1940 · 26/11/2016 16:08

oh my goodness, judging my this thread i'm a right scuzzy so-and-so! but since pregnancy (which was very, very unkind to my previously quite nice boobs, alas) i only really have a couple of decent bras that fit me well and are comfortable so they are in constant demand: as such they probably get washed weekly...[BLUSH] I wish I had more- I did use to really love lingerie- but blimey, good boob-holders are EXPENSIVE! [SHOCK]

littlemonkeyz · 26/11/2016 16:09

More often than Wonderwoman (who is too busy saving the planet to wash bras) and less often than Widow Twankey!

littleme96 · 26/11/2016 16:50

I wash mine at least weekly, although it is not treated in a special way at all and I just bung it in with the normal load - no special bag or hand washing here!

bridge16 · 26/11/2016 17:08

My bras are not expensive enough to warrant handwashing so are bunged in with the normal wash, maybe every 2-3 wears

MSHGW · 26/11/2016 17:19

I wash mine after one wear. I put one in a padded mesh bag (specifically designed for washing bras), and wash them one at a time on an eco 30 degrees delicate cycle wash. Then hang them inside the airing cupboard to dry. I never have problems with the wire popping out, though I probably get through bras a little faster this way.

jlwells1986 · 26/11/2016 17:24

I've had the embarrassing situation where my washing machine drum wouldn't spin so i called for a repair man to fix it - out he pulled my bra wire (i didn't even realise i was missing one haha) so from now on i use a mesh bag lol. I use a 40 degree wash and wash once a week. However at the moment I'm pregnant and using a non wired bra - these get washed more frequently :-)

glennamy · 26/11/2016 17:28

Wash them every week after max of 2 wears... Also they get put into the appropriate washing load... i.e. colours etc :)

ama6270 · 26/11/2016 17:36

I wash both mine once a week, one is light one is dark, normal wash, however I do have a more expensive bra which as I don't wear that often I hand wash it

spottypjs · 26/11/2016 17:38

I put mine in with everything else, nothing special.

julieef · 26/11/2016 18:13

mine just get put into a normal wash with all other clothes every 2-3 days

TeenAndTween · 26/11/2016 18:35

bung in with underwear at 60degrees. as and when I remember.
life is too short to be all fussed about this kind of thing.

catz747 · 26/11/2016 19:06

Mine get washed in the machine same as anything else, only ones I seperate are white for white wash but the rest go in with the normal laundry after one wear.

I just bung my bra's in with everything else at a 40 degree temperature! I also must admit, i wear them for a few days and change them then! Shock

pennwood · 26/11/2016 19:56

I use a 40 degree wash with like colours, & put my bra in a mesh bag. A couple of days of wearing usually but sometimes daily in a hot summer.

cherylann2461 · 26/11/2016 19:57

In the usual white wash once a week.x

vcoxee · 26/11/2016 20:23

I put them with my daily wash depending on the colours in the mesh bag at 40degree!

Dapootz · 26/11/2016 20:31

Mine go in with the normal wash...every few days....a few white ones have ended up interesting shades of pink

cocochips · 26/11/2016 20:37

Every 2/3 days

liz1970 · 26/11/2016 21:04

wash on a wool wash with jumpers:) no problems

freefan · 26/11/2016 21:06

I wash mine daily but that is more down to a medical condition that makes me sweat a bit more and I get paranoid about them getting a smell, they get thrown in with the rest of the wash and like most women are not expensive ones.

grumpymummy3 · 26/11/2016 21:12

Mine are washed after one wear in a 30 degree similar colour wash. but they are not expensive ones!

yatota74 · 26/11/2016 21:19

I put it in the normal wash with similar colors every few days & with the hooks done up. My sports bra gets washed after every use.
