To celebrate Fairy Non Bio’s sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, we’ve launched The Great Mumsnet Laundry Debate - as with all great Wink series, it's a three-parter. Part I was all about how often you wash your bed sheets and part II is about how much you wash your bra...

Bra washing can not only be time consuming but can also require a bit of brain power. First there’s the conundrum of how to wash them, then there’s how often to wash them. Do you put them on a gentle hand-wash setting with a delicate detergent? Do you put them in a mesh bag to protect the straps from getting caught up with other items? Perhaps you only put them in a machine with other light clothing so the elastic doesn’t get stretched by towels and jeans? Or maybe you simply bung them in with everything and put them on a 40C wash? The options can make your brain hurt. So how often do you wash your bra? Are you the kind of person who can’t wear a bra more than once? Or maybe you can wear it for a week?

Whatever your bra-washing process, share it with Fairy Non Bio in the thread below, and maybe even give us a live update from the Mumsnet Talk App as you’re waiting for the load to finish. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I wash everything at 40 degrees! They always come out ok!

happysouls · 26/11/2016 12:47

My bras get washed when there is enough washing to make up a delicate wash generally with various jumpers. I wear mine for several days. I'd like to change them more often than that, but it will have to wait until I can afford a few more for the collection!

blondie123c · 26/11/2016 12:58

I used to wash them in the machine at 30, but now I hand wash them only, as they was always getting caught with other items and colour was faded too.

clopper · 26/11/2016 13:08

I just put bras in a normal wash. I've never considered using a mesh bag but it does seem like a good idea. They often get caught up with other clothes.

beeelaine · 26/11/2016 13:11

I wear those non-wired sports bras for every day use (in any colour but not in WHITE)! I can only wear it fresh for one day and then it goes in the wash - I am a seriously greasy person (don't even use body cream because my skin is always greasy). I dont know how people can wear them for a week if I did that the bra would be literally caked in dead skin! bleuggh I'd rather go commando than wear a caked bra!

I usually fasten the hooks and put it in the washing basket and when i have a load full of towels and the family's honky underwear they all get a nice 60 degree wash (and it is 60 degrees because i have a machine that keeps it at that temperature instead of just reaching it and then cooling down again) - they take a pounding and come out squeeky clean as well as the man and our sons underwear - my bras have to be almost indestructable to earn their place in my drawer! I usually use surf but not conditioner as i fluff up the towels in the dryer for 5 mins if they have been on the line to dry.

I dont think I could go back to the lacy wired bras I used to wear when I was younger - all that hand washing and drying them inside so no one saw them was a right faff and I am very happy those days are well over!

winterpark · 26/11/2016 13:13

I just throw mine in the washing machine with everything else :)

chrin · 26/11/2016 13:17

mine go in with anything that is a light colour eg. socks, undies, jumpers etc but I do the hooks and eyes up first they then get washed at 40 degrees

rachelmi · 26/11/2016 13:30

Not too often. I have a range of bras. When washed I use delicates and use a zip mesh bag to stop damage to items

ElizaDontlittle · 26/11/2016 13:31

We wash at 30 - why does anyone need to wash at 40 these days Shock
I have at least a couple on the go so that they get rest days, and then they go in an ordinary wash (at 30 Wink) and dry on line/ airer. I only buy fairly simple M&S tho.

janeyf1 · 26/11/2016 13:32

I put mine together in a pillow case

chocolatebiscuit123 · 26/11/2016 13:40

I used to hand wash but now I use a mesh bag (Lakeland) and put them in with my other clothes - not with jeans though. Line/ airer dried.

mumtowoo1 · 26/11/2016 13:56

I just throw them in the the washing machine with the same colours on a 40 degree wash

ftovey7 · 26/11/2016 13:57

Oh dear is there meant to be a special way to wash our bras :-( I most wear sports bras so they do just go in the wash with everything else and hung on a line to dry. If it's anything special it doesn't get worn often and I will hand wash - probably why I don't wear that sort often. There is too short. :-)

Elizasmum02 · 26/11/2016 13:57

i wash my bra/undies in the mesh bag twice a week

MrsDramaQueen · 26/11/2016 14:12

I do mine every 2 to 3 days, I just put it in with everything else. Always comes out fine.

emmav6 · 26/11/2016 14:26

they get thrown in whatever wash is on that day, they seem to survive ok ;)

Nikks381 · 26/11/2016 14:27

I hand wash my nice bra's and put my t shirt bra's in the washing machine with other items of similar colours. I wash them after a couple of wears.

cwalliss82 · 26/11/2016 14:32

I change my regular bra's about twice a week. I run and I wash my sports bra's after every run as you could wring the sweat out of them. All of my bra's just get thrown in with all the other washing.

EmmaNiggles · 26/11/2016 14:37

I just put mine in with the usual wash. Every few days.

KittyKat88 · 26/11/2016 14:48

Mine go in a 30c or 40c wash with my DD's stuff (I always use an eco-friendly wash with theirs so know it will be gentle on my bras!) They usually get washed at least once a week that way!

amyhalliday1 · 26/11/2016 15:06

Every couple of days

sandy31 · 26/11/2016 15:08

Every few days and just washed with a mixed load usually at 40c

EmilyKEDB · 26/11/2016 15:21

Mine gets washed every few days. I just chuck it in with the coloured washing.

Funkyferret · 26/11/2016 15:28

Sports bras I just chuck in after each use at a normal 40 degree wash. Everyday bras, I wash once a week. Sometimes it's the one, sometimes a few depending on the colours and outfits I've been wearing. I usually bung them in a pillow case. Then I have a couple of really "nice" bras that I'd just give a quick hand wash to in hand wash liquid after wearing.

Girondella · 26/11/2016 15:41

I just put mine in with the other washing on 40 degrees. Just separate into whites and colours
