To celebrate Fairy Non Bio’s sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, we’ve launched The Great Mumsnet Laundry Debate - as with all great Wink series, it's a three-parter. Part I was all about how often you wash your bed sheets and part II is about how much you wash your bra...

Bra washing can not only be time consuming but can also require a bit of brain power. First there’s the conundrum of how to wash them, then there’s how often to wash them. Do you put them on a gentle hand-wash setting with a delicate detergent? Do you put them in a mesh bag to protect the straps from getting caught up with other items? Perhaps you only put them in a machine with other light clothing so the elastic doesn’t get stretched by towels and jeans? Or maybe you simply bung them in with everything and put them on a 40C wash? The options can make your brain hurt. So how often do you wash your bra? Are you the kind of person who can’t wear a bra more than once? Or maybe you can wear it for a week?

Whatever your bra-washing process, share it with Fairy Non Bio in the thread below, and maybe even give us a live update from the Mumsnet Talk App as you’re waiting for the load to finish. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I like matching bras and knickers so change them daily and wash when I'm next doing a wash.

I am very boring very straight forward. White in the white wash, black in the darks wash and red in the red & purple wash. Fancy smancy ones might get put in a net bag if I remember, but otherwise they are just chucked in. Hell I even tumble dry them. Anything to make life simple.

ustupidwoman · 06/12/2016 21:02

I wish I could say my bras get the love and care they deserve - however, if I treat myself to a new item of clothing - i'm afraid it isn't a bra!! so I have misshapen bras which I know do nothing for my cleavage - when it comes to washing - whilst i change my underwear daily - I'm afraid to say the bra gets a few days wear before I change it and then its casually bunged into a washing machine - although I do wash the white ones separately with other whites...... I feel so ashamed now!!!!!!

JugglingFromHereToThere · 06/12/2016 21:52

Nothing special. Is that enough words to count? All in together with everything else, then in the tumble dryer. Though have been known to put inside a pillow case for both stages Smile

maggieriordan · 06/12/2016 22:25

I never hand wash. All my bras get washed after three wearings in net bags with Fairy non-bio as I don't want chemicals next to my skin

PurpleCrazyHorse · 06/12/2016 23:17

After my mum got hers caught in the drum of her Miele and the engineer had to untangle it, I always was mine in a mesh bag. They either go on a 60 whites wash or a 40 colours wash with a load of other clothes.

Littlefish54 · 07/12/2016 05:51

40c along with everything else, about once a week unless it's the middle of the summer. Normally I buy bras in Marks but when they were having an off patch I decided to try John Lewis. I tried a couple on but was shocked to see they said hand wash only, when I asked the sales assistant she was so snooty and told me that all bras must be hand washed. Seriously? Who has time for that? I was incredulous and have nevr bought a bra from JohnnLewis since!

festivefucker · 07/12/2016 08:15

Mine just go in normal 40 degree wash also, don't have underwire anymore ( too uncomfortable! )

onitlikeacarbonnet · 07/12/2016 10:13

I generally wash my bras in a 40 degree wash with everything else.
I'm careful with my white bra as I hate when it turns grey (how does that happen?). It goes in with only white items and I use a whitening sheet or a prewash powder suitable for whites as its usually going in with the dcs school polo shirts.
The black one goes in with darks/colours.
As I only have 2 at the moment, I wear them until I'm ready to put a wash on that's suitable to add it to. This can be up to 5 days for the white one as apart from school shirts, we don't have a lot of white stuff, but more often for the black.

angiehoggett · 08/12/2016 12:43

I'd wear it for a week then wash at the weekend

debbiew21 · 09/12/2016 19:46

I just sling them in with the rest of the washing, the only sorting I do is colour-wise. I wear them once or twice, depending on if I've had an active day. I don't think they deteriorate or lose shape doing them like that. Mind you I have quite a lot of bras so it isn't like they are worn/washed continuously.

sram · 11/12/2016 00:12

I shower daily, the ones I wear daily I dont repeat them during the week, the ones I wear for just a few hours, are worn once or twice more, all are put in a mesh bag & washed in a regular cycle.

imustbemadme · 12/12/2016 07:35

I wash it twice a week but to be honest I'm in a sports bra every day and use two a day (I teach classes) as these get extremely sweaty. I always wash underwear at 60 degrees.....I used to handwash all my beautiful bras pre-kids bit now they get thrown in the washing machine!

Squina1 · 12/12/2016 13:20

Every other day in with the normal wash, although I do dry them on the radiator rather than sticking them in the dryer.

kirstycooper01 · 12/12/2016 22:19

maybe after a week of wearing one :-/ but I handwash

hayleyjturner78 · 12/12/2016 22:54

I wash my bras every other day

georgiebrown0 · 13/12/2016 05:38

I wash mine on a normal wash with all the same colours

Loftzilla · 13/12/2016 08:44

I always wash mine in an old pillow case to protect them and stop the hooks snagging on anything else. Usually in a 40 degree wash.

liane1987 · 13/12/2016 09:01

I put mine in a pillowcase and wash on cool :-) Id usually wash a bra every other day x

Bechoole · 13/12/2016 15:04

Wear once and wash!

verap · 13/12/2016 16:05

I wash them on a gentle cycle on 40 Celsius together with other my daughter's white school tops.

I can easily wear it for a few days (2-3) before chucking in the wash, I only wash them more often in summer.

jomarise · 13/12/2016 17:24

They go in with the normal wash every three days

liamell · 13/12/2016 18:19

I wear mine more than once....I probably wear it around 5 times before it goes in the wash...the whites with extra whitening products and blacks just normal.
No bags used here...straight in the washer :)

bc1616 · 13/12/2016 22:02

I put mine on a quick wash every other time I wear them

Spices001 · 13/12/2016 22:04

Every other day

avery64 · 13/12/2016 22:04

When I was working they went in the wash with everything else. Although I changed my bra daily I did not have time to do anything else. Now retired I have the time but not the inclination to do anything else !!!!!!! :)
