To celebrate Fairy Non Bio’s sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, we’ve launched The Great Mumsnet Laundry Debate - as with all great Wink series, it's a three-parter. Part I was all about how often you wash your bed sheets and part II is about how much you wash your bra...

Bra washing can not only be time consuming but can also require a bit of brain power. First there’s the conundrum of how to wash them, then there’s how often to wash them. Do you put them on a gentle hand-wash setting with a delicate detergent? Do you put them in a mesh bag to protect the straps from getting caught up with other items? Perhaps you only put them in a machine with other light clothing so the elastic doesn’t get stretched by towels and jeans? Or maybe you simply bung them in with everything and put them on a 40C wash? The options can make your brain hurt. So how often do you wash your bra? Are you the kind of person who can’t wear a bra more than once? Or maybe you can wear it for a week?

Whatever your bra-washing process, share it with Fairy Non Bio in the thread below, and maybe even give us a live update from the Mumsnet Talk App as you’re waiting for the load to finish. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Mine just go in with similar coloured wash, dried on a radiator not tumbled

pfcpompeysarah · 26/11/2016 21:39

Clearly I am a dirtbag, I just shove them in with anything.. mind you I have just got bog standard bras and not the posh ones.

SweetPeaPods · 26/11/2016 21:40

Thrown in the washing machine with similar colours then dried on line or airer.
Don't wash as often as I should, maybe once a week but I try to rotate my favourite 3. Maybe if they were more expensive I would hand wash.

stefalfie11 · 26/11/2016 21:48

I throw mine in with the normal 40 degree wash every few days - i don't mess around with mesh bags or anything special like that.

juju3 · 26/11/2016 21:51

very frequently and on a delicate wash

towser44 · 26/11/2016 21:59

Every day judging by the number of times I seem to have to make sure the neighbours aren't watching when I put the washing on the line for the other half!

fazkin · 26/11/2016 22:01

gone are the days of expensive bras so now they all get chucked in every 2-3 days in with normal wash cycle.

smallchair · 26/11/2016 22:02

I just wash my bras at 40 degrees with other clothes of the same colour. Doesn't seem to prematurely wear them out but they aren't terribly expensive

oliveoyl72 · 26/11/2016 22:02

I wear mine for a few days - more than once, less than a week, it largely depends on what I've been doing (after sweaty jobs it goes in the wash), and where I'm going - clean stuff if going somewhere nice.

I own quite a few bras, but I tend to wear the same model for the majority of the time, so now own 4 of the same.

Lazy - just throw them in with whatever else I'm washing.

twinklenicci · 26/11/2016 22:08

i wash my bra after every wear, i just throw it in with the normal washing ( whites if it is a white bra) My husband goes mad at me because ive had bra wires go into the drum and break the motor on more than one occassion

YoullNeverWeeAlone · 26/11/2016 22:50

I'm not sure how often I was mine Blush. I wear them more than once and switch between black & white depending on clothing. Previous day's bra goes back in drawer if I'm changing colour. Then every so often I just chuck them in the laundry basket.

Generally throw it in with light / dark wash as appropriate. Only at 30 though, hardly ever wash stuff at 40. If I've got something else delicate / hand wash to go in machine, I might throw a bra in too, in a bag if other item is something which might get snagged by bra clasp.

LeeR1985 · 26/11/2016 22:56

My partner has 3 bra's that she uses regularly for 2 days each then washes them on sundays on a delicate wash. Obviously she has fancy ones too but they're saved for special occasions!

seanbean · 26/11/2016 23:06

once a week - delicates

vitalite · 26/11/2016 23:07

Bung it in with everything else at 40 here. No specisl treatment for bras or anything else fir that matter Smile

AngelwingsPetlamb · 26/11/2016 23:17

For everyday bras, I wash them in the machine on a 30 degree wash after a couple of wears. I always hang them out to dry, never put them in the tumble drier. I do have a mesh bag that I use in the washing machine so they don't get tangled. If it's a special bra then it gets hand washed and treated a bit more delicately.

HappyHippyMama · 26/11/2016 23:27

Mine just go in with whatever I'm washing and the horror of horrors - get bunged in the dryer too!

patchysmum · 27/11/2016 00:38

I put the colored ones in a normal wash and the whites when I do a white wash

Stevens4 · 27/11/2016 00:58

A usually leave a couple of days in between washes unless it is particularly hot weather and to wash I put mine in to soak with some wash powder for about 30 minutes then wash on a 40 wash I stopped using a mesh bag as it was catching the hooks on the bag and bending them, so cut a pillow case up and threaded to make a draw string bag, spent too much on fitted and want them lasting a bit longer.

GREATAUNT1 · 27/11/2016 05:02

I just throw them in with everything else.

PunkyBubba · 27/11/2016 06:39

Once every few days I stick the bra I was wearing in a pillowcase I keep in he laundry basket. At the end of the week that goes in with the load of washing I stick on 'hand wash' in the machine. It then gets hung to dry in a hanger in the bedroom along with the other bits of 'hand washing'.

phillie1 · 27/11/2016 07:04

goes in machine with everything else, every 2-3 days

padkin · 27/11/2016 08:10

I don't own any 'fancy' bras - all are standard M&S or some such. They are worn for 2-3 days (although maybe only 1 day if it's very hot or I've been v sweaty). They get washed in with the normal washes - darks 40' , coloured 40' and whites 60'. Hadn't occurred to me to do anything else with them (mesh bags?!). I think I must be a very low maintenance laundry user. I never buy clothes that need dry cleaning or hand washing. Life is far too busy and short.

Tenpastlate · 27/11/2016 08:48

I wash my ordinary bras in a standard wash with other clothes. I make sure they are fastened so they don't snag on the other clothes.
My silk bras languish for weeks in the washing basket then I wash them in silk & wool wash on the handwash cycle of the machine.

I leave all bras hanging from the corners of radiators to dry. No idea why!

Purplehonesty · 27/11/2016 08:55

Every few days and just wash with similar colours. I don't wear white bras so grey/black/nude goes in with a 40 wash.
If I've been to the gym or cooked something like curry the bras go straight in the wash that night!

defineme · 27/11/2016 08:57

I just throw them in dark or lights wash every couple of days on 40, but I don't need fancy big bras so perhaps i would if i did. I did once have washing machine blocked due to underwire and now wear unwired bras!
