To celebrate Fairy Non Bio’s sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, we’ve launched The Great Mumsnet Laundry Debate - as with all great Wink series, it's a three-parter. Part I was all about how often you wash your bed sheets and part II is about how much you wash your bra...

Bra washing can not only be time consuming but can also require a bit of brain power. First there’s the conundrum of how to wash them, then there’s how often to wash them. Do you put them on a gentle hand-wash setting with a delicate detergent? Do you put them in a mesh bag to protect the straps from getting caught up with other items? Perhaps you only put them in a machine with other light clothing so the elastic doesn’t get stretched by towels and jeans? Or maybe you simply bung them in with everything and put them on a 40C wash? The options can make your brain hurt. So how often do you wash your bra? Are you the kind of person who can’t wear a bra more than once? Or maybe you can wear it for a week?

Whatever your bra-washing process, share it with Fairy Non Bio in the thread below, and maybe even give us a live update from the Mumsnet Talk App as you’re waiting for the load to finish. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Mind go in a normal wash with similar colours. I intend to use a mesh bag, but usually forget !

kateandme · 24/11/2016 09:54

ooops I bung them in like I do any of items of clothing!

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 24/11/2016 09:56

Bra goes in the wash with anything else a similar colour. Everything gets washed at 40 degrees. No delicate wash, no special mesh bag (is that really a thing?), no special treatment.

Doilooklikeatourist · 24/11/2016 09:58

Mine just go in the machine with the load that's the appropriate colour
My favourite black bra went in the tumble le dryer by accident one ( came out fine )
I dry them on the heated towel rail in the bathroom

triangularchocolate · 24/11/2016 10:08

I have the mesh bags but nearly always forget to use them. At the moment I'm on wire free bras after having a baby so I throw them in with everything else. I probably wear them for about 4 days before washing - sounds a bit scuzzy written down!

janx · 24/11/2016 10:36

Bras got thrown in with similar colours - no mesh bag or hand wash hereSmile

mumonahottinroof · 24/11/2016 10:39

Sports bra apart, which I wash after every use, dont wash my bras that often [shame] - maybe once every three weeks. In my defence am not a sweaty person and rotate three. In a mesh bag on 30 degrees. Life is waaaay to short to hand wash a bra. Line dry them.

Belmo · 24/11/2016 10:40

Fling them in with everything else on a normal wash (my sil was horrified, she hand washes hers!). Every few days - don't have enough to wash daily.

mogloveseggs · 24/11/2016 10:44

I bung them in with everything else on a 40 degree then dry on an airer. I wear them for 2-3 days but wash sports bras after 1 wear.

BobGoblin23 · 24/11/2016 10:54

Throw them in with everything else on a 40 degree quick wash, and a no colour run sheet. I always forget to take the straps off when they are removable. Lost a strap once a found it rolled in a sock 2 months later.

asuwere · 24/11/2016 10:58

Mine just get added to the normal load - I don't separate any of my washing, it all goes in together :)

catsofa · 24/11/2016 11:01

I had no idea people's brains hurt because of bras. I wear a clean one every day and wash them with everything else on 40. I don't even separate colours, anything that used to be white is now grey.

BeeMyBaby · 24/11/2016 11:03

Every 3-4 days in the normal 30c wash and then hung to dry, I buy cheap bras from eBay so it does t upset me too much having to replace them if they've stretched.

QuiltedAloeVera · 24/11/2016 11:05

The options can make your brain hurt.

No, they can't.

I stick them in a mesh bag. The cotton/synthetic ones go in on 40 with everything else, the silk ones go in on the silk/delicates cycle.

QuiltedAloeVera · 24/11/2016 11:07

They get washed after 2 days unless it's been really hot.

Sports bras after every session.

lynniep · 24/11/2016 11:09

Most of my bras get chucked in the wash at 40 with everything else. I wear them twice usually. My sports bra cost me loads and therefore I handwash it . I also have a couple of 'going out' bras. These go in the machine on their own, usually on a silk wash at 0.

TheSpottedZebra · 24/11/2016 11:13

I have a 3d mesh zip up thing, and bras go in that at a 40 wash. Apart form my prettiest, which I very very very rarely wear, which get hand washed.

chaplin1409 · 24/11/2016 11:28

I just put my bra in the normal wash. I have a clean one most days some times I wear my bra 2 days but generally change it everyday. I also have 2 daughters who wear bras and theirs go in the normal was too everyday.

FeelingSmurfy · 24/11/2016 11:49

Worn for about 3 days, washed with normal washing

TheFlounder · 24/11/2016 12:04

Just in a 40 with everything else, then in the tumble dryer Shock.

RhubarbAndMustard · 24/11/2016 12:05

Mine go in a 40 wash with similar colours, after every day of wearing. I don't buy expensive ones though and have 5/6 on the go at any time.

OldBooks · 24/11/2016 12:11

Normally I have 2 'work bras', one light, one dark, which go with my work clothes. I wear them during the week and wash them in a normal load, nothing special.

At the moment I am breastfeeding and in nursing bras. I leak even with pads so washing daily. They go in with all the sickie muslins and poonami aftermath baby clothes on the 'baby wash' setting.

P1nkP0ppy · 24/11/2016 12:41

Mine go in with same colour clothing, 40° wash then tumble dried or line dried.

I wear a clean one every other day unless I've got very sweaty, and I've never handwashed a bra in my life!

Strawclutching · 24/11/2016 12:47

I've been missing out on something. I wear my bra about 4 days then just chuck it in the wash.

starlight36 · 24/11/2016 12:48

I used to put them in the normal wash in a mesh bag. I found that the hooks and eyes were getting squashed or bent out of shape so now use a specialist delicate wash soak. You just dilute a few drops in a sink full of warm water and leave for at least 15 minutes. No need to rinse and them
I hang them up above the shower to dry. I was initially wary of the cost of the wash but I haven't had to throw away any bras since I've started using it so I think it is worthwhile for me.
