To celebrate Fairy Non Bio’s sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, we’ve launched The Great Mumsnet Laundry Debate - as with all great Wink series, it's a three-parter. Part I was all about how often you wash your bed sheets and part II is about how much you wash your bra...

Bra washing can not only be time consuming but can also require a bit of brain power. First there’s the conundrum of how to wash them, then there’s how often to wash them. Do you put them on a gentle hand-wash setting with a delicate detergent? Do you put them in a mesh bag to protect the straps from getting caught up with other items? Perhaps you only put them in a machine with other light clothing so the elastic doesn’t get stretched by towels and jeans? Or maybe you simply bung them in with everything and put them on a 40C wash? The options can make your brain hurt. So how often do you wash your bra? Are you the kind of person who can’t wear a bra more than once? Or maybe you can wear it for a week?

Whatever your bra-washing process, share it with Fairy Non Bio in the thread below, and maybe even give us a live update from the Mumsnet Talk App as you’re waiting for the load to finish. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I wear them twice before washing them on a 40 wash, my machine doesn't have a 30 cycle or i'd wash them on that.

hiddenmichelle · 26/11/2016 09:37

with everything else - know I shouldn't but I do - 40 degrees with everything else!

BizziLiz · 26/11/2016 09:59

I wash my bras every three days unless it's been a really sweaty day in which case the bra goes in the washing pile when I take it off at bedtime. I always put bras in a mesh bag but don't put them on in a delicates wash or a handwash cycle as frankly I've never seen the need. All my bras are flesh colouredso just go in the general wash with everything else.

valbuk · 26/11/2016 10:04

Mine go in with items of a similar colour and are usually changed every other day. Special ones I put in a mesh bag to wash and hang to dry

laurapinnell · 26/11/2016 10:15

I dont wear a bra more than once before its washed, but i usually wash them separately once a week

flozza42 · 26/11/2016 10:29

Always wash in a mesh bag in the machine after breaking my machine previously with the underwire being caught it it!

clareycat · 26/11/2016 10:32

I don't give it much thought i just chuck them in. The only thing i do remember is to hook the clasps together so they don't snag my tights!

alibabbaskeggy · 26/11/2016 10:33

im afraid not enough time they all get lobbed in together and consequently go grey very quickly wouldnt mind but as I have quite large lady lumps they cost a fortune!!

DinosaursRoar · 26/11/2016 10:45

I do a 30 degree gentle wash with bras (done up to stop them destroying other things) and jumpers.

Stick them on the airer, or radiator if they are the industrial structural t-shirt types.

libra101 · 26/11/2016 10:46

My bras are all lightly coloured, mainly white, and are washed with other light coloured washing. No bags or anything special.

frances93 · 26/11/2016 10:52

I could be classed as a scruff because my bra's barely ever get washed, especially if they are a dark colour! I'm reluctant to wash my wight bras incase they go grey Blush

ozbird1 · 26/11/2016 10:59

I wash my bras in a mesh bag - this stops them getting caught up as above. Also I once lost an under wire in the drum and had to get someone out to fix, then on the first wash afterwards another underwire came out but luckily I was able to sort out myself so ALWAYS use a mess bag now.

WuTangFlan · 26/11/2016 11:16

Chuck bras in at 40 degrees with everything else, usually get a couple of days wear out of them unless its a sports bra in which case it only ever gets one wear before washing.

Annieg1234 · 26/11/2016 11:27

i wash mine every 2 days in with a 40 wash, havent got time to handwash! never put them in the tumble dryer though i normally hang them on the radiator, much to the disgust of my 19 yr old son! :)

strikingstarlet · 26/11/2016 11:27

Not as much as I should but not quite bad enough that it walks to the washing basket on its own!! 😂😂

Najab1 · 26/11/2016 11:34

I didn't know there was any special ways to wash a bra. Mine just go in with everything else of similar colour. The amount of washing I do a day, I couldn't be bothered with the faff of doing it any differently. Besides, who sees it anyway.

lizd31 · 26/11/2016 11:44

I put mine in the normal 40 degree wash in a mesh bag & wash them every couple of days

HandbagCrazy · 26/11/2016 11:56

I have a few that I wear on rotation at work then on a Saturday morning I chuck them in the wash (no mesh bag or anything) along with my work cloths (dresses) and DHs work clothes (trousers and shirts). They wash on a standard 40 wash and dry on the airier. Easy Smile

EdKorho · 26/11/2016 11:58

Don't wear them

llangennith · 26/11/2016 12:01

Three boring post-surgery bras get washed once a week in a mesh bag on 40deg wash.

bonners1 · 26/11/2016 12:02

I always place my bras in a separate mesh bag...learnt from previous mistake of the wire coming out and getting stuck in machine :)

fish88 · 26/11/2016 12:12

I used to wash my bras every 2 or 3 days. Just shoved in with the rest of the clothes on a 40 wash. Now I have a newborn and leaky boobs I'm having to wash my nursing bras every day.

hmariez · 26/11/2016 12:20

With everything else

Tinker15 · 26/11/2016 12:28

Never handwashed and always put in the wash after one day :)

jelleng · 26/11/2016 12:30

My bras go in with everything else, if I had expensive lingerie I would wash it by hand
