To celebrate Fairy Non Bio’s sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, we’ve launched The Great Mumsnet Laundry Debate - as with all great Wink series, it's a three-parter. Part I was all about how often you wash your bed sheets and part II is about how much you wash your bra...

Bra washing can not only be time consuming but can also require a bit of brain power. First there’s the conundrum of how to wash them, then there’s how often to wash them. Do you put them on a gentle hand-wash setting with a delicate detergent? Do you put them in a mesh bag to protect the straps from getting caught up with other items? Perhaps you only put them in a machine with other light clothing so the elastic doesn’t get stretched by towels and jeans? Or maybe you simply bung them in with everything and put them on a 40C wash? The options can make your brain hurt. So how often do you wash your bra? Are you the kind of person who can’t wear a bra more than once? Or maybe you can wear it for a week?

Whatever your bra-washing process, share it with Fairy Non Bio in the thread below, and maybe even give us a live update from the Mumsnet Talk App as you’re waiting for the load to finish. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

My bras a expensive so I take care of them. I have a washing machine with a very special silk and wool council hand-wash cycle which I use to wash my bras at 30 with draft liquid. I dry them on the airer or line and wear each bra for 3 days, but not consecutively. I do a wash every 10 days or so. I'd love a mesh bags to protect them from each other more, but they don't make them big enough for my cup size.

glenka · 26/11/2016 07:26

I always put my me in a mesh bag in case it catches in the machine and I usually wash them every few days.

tammypark50 · 26/11/2016 07:38

I just put mine in a normal wash, but don't wash them after every wear. I find that after they've been washed a few times they can lose their shape :(

vonniebab2 · 26/11/2016 07:42

I wash my bra about every 3 days at a 40c wash with all my other washing no mesh bag

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 26/11/2016 07:53
  • Mesh bag
  • Delicate cycle or my own invented cycle (the 'quick cycle' with an 800 spin)
  • 30 deg
  • Delicate Sainsburys own brand liquid
  • Air dry on a clothes dryer

I only have three bras (apart from emergency bras I don't wash). But they're good quality CK Ones and don't get v dirty due to general lack of boobies.

jrobbs · 26/11/2016 07:55

I spend a disproportionate amount of money on my underwear so would never relegate it to a household load. Yes, that may make me sound incredibly precious and maybe even dull but I Give not a jot. My underwear and I have a special relationship which I am not about to trash.

Lisapaige24 · 26/11/2016 07:58

Well I wash it every day like I do my underwear I don't use a mesh bag just throw it in with the rest of the washing maybe that's why I have to buy new ones quite often I do spend around £20 plus on one bra so I should be more careful with them but I just don't have the time I work full time and have a family to take care of am lucky to have less than 4 wash loads a day but I might consider getting a mesh bag for bras socks underwear that way they might last longer and I wouldn't keep loosing socks

ClaireTea42 · 26/11/2016 07:58

I have an awkward bra size (30b) that is tricky to find in the shops. So when I find a good bra, I have to take care of it. I change my bra two or three times a week, depending on how much of a slob I am being. I wash at 30 but I put each bra in a clean bed sock with a hair tie at the end. Bit wierd but works for me Blush

barbsbarbs · 26/11/2016 07:59

I wash my bra every other day as I sweat quite badly.

Hertsgirl75 · 26/11/2016 08:14

I wash mine on 30 degrees with everything else

pusinky · 26/11/2016 08:14

I handwash mine

MimiJoy · 26/11/2016 08:17

I fasten the hooks and put them in with other washing on a bio wash at 40 degrees. I do not them in the tumble-dryer with the rest of the washing though - I dry them on/near the radiator.

hdh747 · 26/11/2016 08:19

I just do mine in a normal 40 wash - though I make sure never to tumble dry them, I find that wrecks them.

WarmHugs · 26/11/2016 08:20

Having ruined a washing machine with rogue underwires, and having to pay a fortune for my bras, I will only handwash now. The mesh bags absolutely do not work. The zips open, bras fall out, and it's carnage.

I handwash every night. Occasionally, I'll febreze them in between. And I'm the kind of person who wears jeans for a week. Bras need to feel fresh though.

AnimalAddict · 26/11/2016 08:30

I just put them in the normal wash, no fussing about :)

VelvetThunder · 26/11/2016 08:31

My bras just get chucked in with the regular wash and put on a 40. I've never even considered doing anything special with them, but I do only buy cheap bras so I'm not fussed what happens to them and can easily replace.

fzzzbucks · 26/11/2016 08:34

Uhmm....mine go in the normal wash alongside everything else on a 40 degree wash. Probably get washed every 3 days or so.

waitingforgodot · 26/11/2016 08:56

In the wash along with everything else but I do make sure they are fastened so the hooks dont catch on other clothes. I have no time for hand washing. Bra gets chucked when underwire starts to poke through

arwin · 26/11/2016 08:58

I put them in the wash daily with everything else.

jacqui5366 · 26/11/2016 09:12

As I do get a lot of underboob sweat x I wash mine daily by hand in baby shampoo x put it on the radiator for the next day, and as I have 3 of the same design I do this in rotation. The baby shampoo is gentle, as they don't need much washing and I love the smell x

TAtfield · 26/11/2016 09:15

I wash my bras every couple of days in normal wash but I do the clasp up first because they always break first.

edoody · 26/11/2016 09:18

In the machine in a mesh bag but only recently before that I did them by hand

Roraima · 26/11/2016 09:21

As per any garment, it all depends on how long I've had it for and how hot or sweaty I might have been. Always by hand with soft washing products.

itsmeexxx · 26/11/2016 09:25

I change it every 2-3 days unless I've been to the gym then of course I change it straight away. They all get put in my normal washing loads and without a mesh bag. I probably could do with getting a mesh bag to avoid those times I have to untangle 100 socks and tights that have decided to wrap themselves around my bra straps 😜

IonaAilidh11 · 26/11/2016 09:27

all done with the normal lights/darks
