To celebrate Fairy Non Bio’s sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, we’ve launched The Great Mumsnet Laundry Debate - as with all great Wink series, it's a three-parter. Part I was all about how often you wash your bed sheets and part II is about how much you wash your bra...

Bra washing can not only be time consuming but can also require a bit of brain power. First there’s the conundrum of how to wash them, then there’s how often to wash them. Do you put them on a gentle hand-wash setting with a delicate detergent? Do you put them in a mesh bag to protect the straps from getting caught up with other items? Perhaps you only put them in a machine with other light clothing so the elastic doesn’t get stretched by towels and jeans? Or maybe you simply bung them in with everything and put them on a 40C wash? The options can make your brain hurt. So how often do you wash your bra? Are you the kind of person who can’t wear a bra more than once? Or maybe you can wear it for a week?

Whatever your bra-washing process, share it with Fairy Non Bio in the thread below, and maybe even give us a live update from the Mumsnet Talk App as you’re waiting for the load to finish. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Mine gets bunged in with whatever washing is in the machine. Use fairy non bio as kids are allergic to everything else and washed approx every 3 days. Sports bra washed after one wear..same rules apply

BL0SS0M · 28/11/2016 10:19

Pop them in a mesh bag and wash every few days at 40

katkatgu · 28/11/2016 10:37

Every other day in a mesh bag!

windowmouse · 28/11/2016 10:39

Just chuck them in the main wash, no special measures taken! NO time for that!

NotCitrus · 28/11/2016 10:47

Every few days, in at 40, but I do do the clips up first.
Though in the last year I've had a few underwires come out - given the cost of G cups I might see if gentle cycles help in future.

Fergie42 · 28/11/2016 11:10

They just get thrown in the wash with similar colours - usually weekly.

Just chuck them in and hope for the best!

shydaylily · 28/11/2016 14:51

in the normal wash with either white or dark depending on the colour of the bra.

sarah861421 · 28/11/2016 15:59

After reading the above, my answer appears to be "not often enough". It tends to be once a week (ish ) and just in the normal wash

WonderWine · 28/11/2016 16:23

Gym/Sports bra - after one wearing

Everyday bra (M&S - nothing special) - every 2-3 days

All get bunged in with similar colours on a 30/40 degree wash.

ThreenageMutantWhingerTurtle · 28/11/2016 16:38

Mine go in with similar colours on a 40° or 30° wash, whatever the majority of the other clothes need! Always air dry on the clothes horse though.

Sparklepants3 · 28/11/2016 18:33

I just shove mine in the washing machine with everything else, I'm terrible with separating clothes to be washed!
I have to say that I wear mine for a maximum of 4 days, it all depends on what's happening and what clothes I'm wearing. Most if the time it's about two days but I'm terrible at going to stay at the boyfriends for a weekend and forgetting to take a spare one with me

rhinosuze · 28/11/2016 18:37

I wash them every week though I admit to wearing them a few days in a row! Don't do anything special other than make sure I don't put them in same load as things they might snag like tights. Interesting tips on here though, never thought to just do them up before - always worth visiting mumsnet!

Mozarmstrong · 28/11/2016 19:08

Easy put in little mesh laundry bags or knot up a pillowcase tightly. Always fasten up. Lights with light colours And dark with dark colours!

suewho · 28/11/2016 19:24

I tend to wear my bras for two days (if they pass the sniff test at the end of day one!) then hand wash them if they are fairly new or shove them in a mesh bag and wash them at 40 degrees with the rest of the washing when their newness has worn off, or when I'm too lazy to hand wash them

sweir1 · 28/11/2016 19:31

Probably too much. They always go bobbly and deformed

mumpetuk1 · 28/11/2016 19:45

Once a week with the other smalls

sealight123 · 28/11/2016 20:11

I do a delicate wash and then a delicate dry. My bras are all pretty sad and plain as you pay through the nose for a design on a bra the minute you go past a D cup. I haven't been a D cup since I was 14 :(

bcd2009 · 28/11/2016 20:34

Before I had kids I had mesh nets for my bras, now that I wash what feels like a million loads a week, it's just in with them in any 40° wash that matches the colour ;) I do close the hooks though, so they don't rip anything else. I get 2-3 wears out of them, in the summer time usally only 1-2 with hot weather.

megletthesecond · 28/11/2016 20:38

Washed after one wear, usually in the pink / red load. But I have loads of cheap primark bras that I found in their bargain bin. No one else wanted flesh tone, non - under wired, small boob bras so I stocked up.

Cailin7 · 28/11/2016 21:40

I put mine in my normal wash with like colours at 30 or 40 degrees, usually every few wears.. I hve never used a mesh bag or done anything special. Then they just hang up on the clothes horse. I did accidently put one in the tumble drier once and it ruined it.

fayesmummy · 28/11/2016 23:49

I just throw mine in with the rest of the washing :/

Wolhuter · 29/11/2016 07:39

Well I wash mine after everywhere and they just go in the normal wash at 40 degrees with everything else and I've never had any problems doing it this way.......it's never occurred to me to treat them any differently to my other washing.

pklme · 29/11/2016 10:06

I have lots and lots. My bra often shows around my clothes, so I prefer them to be colourful and preferably coordinate. They go in with the synthetic wash, and I wear it maybe up to a week at a time. But I have several on the go so it is hard to tell...
