To celebrate Fairy Non Bio’s sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, we’ve launched The Great Mumsnet Laundry Debate - as with all great Wink series, it's a three-parter. Part I was all about how often you wash your bed sheets and part II is about how much you wash your bra...

Bra washing can not only be time consuming but can also require a bit of brain power. First there’s the conundrum of how to wash them, then there’s how often to wash them. Do you put them on a gentle hand-wash setting with a delicate detergent? Do you put them in a mesh bag to protect the straps from getting caught up with other items? Perhaps you only put them in a machine with other light clothing so the elastic doesn’t get stretched by towels and jeans? Or maybe you simply bung them in with everything and put them on a 40C wash? The options can make your brain hurt. So how often do you wash your bra? Are you the kind of person who can’t wear a bra more than once? Or maybe you can wear it for a week?

Whatever your bra-washing process, share it with Fairy Non Bio in the thread below, and maybe even give us a live update from the Mumsnet Talk App as you’re waiting for the load to finish. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Always in with other 'delicates' such as my work clothes- 2 loads, one lights and one darks. 20 degree wash with normal washing liquid. Dry on a drying rack or radiator if I'm in a hurry. Sometimes tumble dry them, always regret it!

MamaLyon · 27/11/2016 09:27

Fancy bra's are handwashed. The standard ones are chucked in with everything else but sepearared based on darks/lights- two kids, don't have time for major hand washing!

ThornyBird · 27/11/2016 10:06

Bras washed every other day, in the normal wash (40 or 30 depending on my mood) using bio powder with clasps fastened, then tumble dried with rest of load.

I buy cheap bras from Asda so am not precious about them!

sammylea80 · 27/11/2016 10:09

I wash mine every time I wear it, but I tend to just do one dedicates wash a week.

Marg2k8 · 27/11/2016 11:35

I put mine in the normal wash, but not in the tumble dryer.

kamaxtra · 27/11/2016 11:38

I do sometimes just throw them in with others at 40 degrees, but I also use a mesh bag to protect from tangling.

nemno · 27/11/2016 12:53

I have lost too many bras during the spin cycle to underwire chew. So I put them in a wired mesh bag and take them out after a gentle spin then spin everything else again on high rpm. They do go in the appropriate coloured wash with everything else at 40 degrees but as I said I limit the first spin.

nemno · 27/11/2016 12:55

Oh and they mostly get worn for 2 days, one if I'm sweaty.

feefeegabor · 27/11/2016 15:20

With Primark I have so many bras now that I am able to wear them and wash them after one day's wear.

helly27 · 27/11/2016 15:24

I wash my bras weekly and they go in with the lights and darks no bag and not treated any different

thesockgap · 27/11/2016 16:04

I wash them after about 4-5 wears.... I don't handwash or do anything special with them though, just stick them in the machine with like colours.

kerryv · 27/11/2016 16:06

Normal wash. Nothing special.

simone12345 · 27/11/2016 16:20

l have a mesh bag and yes they really work your bra comes out with no snags on it so yes a 40 wash then hang to dry

IHaveAToiletBrush · 27/11/2016 16:20

Washed after each wear in with normal washing.

wobblywindows · 27/11/2016 16:38

I wash mine 2 at a time at 40 degrees on the double-delicates wash (=). Mine are underwired and I've had trouble with loose wires coming free in the machine before, so just 2 bras get the whole machine to themselves. I'm not sure what's worse- paying out for a new washer or the time & trouble finding a new bra that fits.

wobblywindows · 27/11/2016 16:45

oops, forgot to mention how often: twice a week.

Ikea1234 · 27/11/2016 16:47

I have one of those bra shaped bra bags to wash my bras in, and they ALWAYS go in the machine on a delicates cycle, with similar colours, and dry naturally on an airer. I'm also someone who has to be measured every 6 months, and I don't keep a bra longer than a year, which I know is still longer than the recommended life of your bra, but bras are expensive!

PastysPrincess · 27/11/2016 17:37

I use the mesh bra bags to tidy my sons toys. So easy and convenient- can't get broken like a plasic box and no suffocation risk like a carrier bag! - my bras just get chucked in with everything else when I remember lol

yorkie18 · 27/11/2016 18:10

I don't wash it as often as I should! I alternate during the week, so each one properly gets washed once a week and mixed in with the normal wash.

abster0114 · 27/11/2016 18:24

I always put mine in a mesh bag as I once had a wire escape and ended up damaging my washing machine.

madge47 · 27/11/2016 18:54

I hand wash all my bras they last much longer that way

seeingdouble2 · 27/11/2016 18:56

I am a dirty bogger wash my after about 4 wears, know I should change it everyday but the nice comfy bra's are so expensive so only have a couple! On the plus sidethey are still whiter that white! so must be looking after them. (chucking them in at 40 degrees with the whites)

Ferrisday · 27/11/2016 19:20

I'm really starting to hate bras
They just go in regularly mixed wash at 40degrees.
White ones go in white wash, but somehow still end up looking like crap

maryandbuzz1 · 27/11/2016 20:16

I wash them every few days and always throw them in with the whites. I haven't any expensive bras ...just good old M&S

RavioliOnToast · 27/11/2016 20:21

I use mesh bags in with the lights or darks, whichever I'm washing. They get washed on a 60 with everything else
