For many of us, there’s nothing more important than family. Nationwide have launched a new campaign where ordinary people tell us what’s important to them. Here, poet and mum Hollie McNish describes how her family makes her feel in her poem ‘Little Things’.

Nationwide would love you to watch Hollie below and tell them what feelings and memories the poem stirs up about your own family. They’d love to hear about the moments in your own DC’s lives that you will treasure forever.

Here’s what Nationwide has to say: “At Nationwide our members have a voice. For many of us, there's nothing more valuable than family. In this poem, 'Little Things', poet and mum Hollie McNish says it all better than we ever could.”

So, what “little things” about your family will you always treasure? If you were talking to your DC, what would you tell them about the things that they do and how it makes you feel?

Everyone who posts a comment below will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Seeing my little one perform at the school plays, listening to her experiences at school each day and seeing her mimic some of my sayings and mannerisms

I love bedtimes - reading, a cuddle and then the silly routines we have - like a kiss for teddy as well!

I treasure every moment spent with my great niece as I only get to see her every few months & have no family near me. She lights up my life & never fails to make me laugh & smile. Her hugs & cuddles, or huggles as she calls them, are precious & I love how caring she is withmy parents, her GG & Grandpa

He is the most wonderful thing that has happened in my life...from being the most unmaternal person I could not believe the love I felt the moment I saw him.
He continues to surprise and amaze and has grown into a lovely son.

The fact that we could treat them as adults and not have to talk down to them (and yes, they enjoyed fun and being with other children too).

Mine are not very little anymore and I love it when they come to me with their problems as it shows that even when you mess up a little along the way your babies will still see you as number one!

After a VERY troubled youth - alcohol, drugs, crime - you name it, I am so proud of the splendid man and father my DS has become, I remember the day when he handed me a card which just said 'Thanks for never giving up on me'.

I love when they always want to show you any random treasure they find be it a pretty pebble, sea shell, a 'big poo', and after school a picture they have drawn. It is very important to look at their treasures and share their joy x

Those spontaneous hugs they come and give you for no reason sometimes, or just before bed when they want snuggles.

I love the fact that they are all unique and proud to be different. Two are teenagers now and I think back to being their age and desperately trying to fit in with others. I am so proud that mine are confident and independent and love being individual. And the things they say are sometimes even funnier than the things they used to come out with when they were teeny. I look back at the momentos of the past, such as the calendar made out of tiny hand prints from nursery and the mother's day card where my then seven year old son had written "I love you so much I think my heart will break" and I feel so privileged to have shared their journey towards adulthood.

I treasure my eldest's sense of humour. He's such a funny child and he loves to make people laugh. He knows how hard I struggle with my health and he's always there to put a smile on my face.

I treasure that my youngest loves books and is so affectionate. :)

Lovely heartfelt words! I remember the fear before I went to the operating theatre, the tears that came when I heard that first cry, the overwhelming sense of responsibility I felt as we took baby home. The feeling that I was so unprepared for the hardest job of my life and the amazement I still feel every day that I am getting through it...and that they are turning into the most marvellous, wonderful little people.
My most treasured moment with both of them is that unasked for, just given statement 'I love you Mummy'!

I love the way that their language develops as they mature. 'Lellow' becomes 'yellow', 'mine toast' becomes 'my toast', etc. Also 'ning' my little girl's favourite word when she became upset.

It seemed to convey her feelings at the time. Happy memories.

My youngest DC was quite an ill baby and not much sleeping went on, but looking back now, I'd tell him that I cherish the nights I spent awake with him, whilst the rest of the family slept coz it was the only time when it was just me and DC and no-one else or anything else to worry about other than giving DC all my love. And when he gave me his first proper hug it meant all the world and to this day his hugs are just as precious.
