The school summer holidays are a great time to share lots of wonderful moments with your children, and though the cost of exciting days out can really add up, they’re not the only way to have fun.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons would like you to share the joyful summer moments you’ve shared with your children which cost nothing.

This could be a water fight in the garden on a hot summer day, a trip to a local museum that you both really enjoyed or an impromptu picnic in the park. Have you found creative ways to have fun without the price tag? Whatever your joyful summer moments that cost nothing, share them with Cadbury below.

All those who post a comment below will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £265 Love2Shop voucher and a second winner will win a Merlin family ticket worth up to £200.

Thanks and good luck!

Letting the Kids make a picnic then taking them to the beach to build sandcastles or the nearby park they always eat everything as they love making it themselves and it fills in the whole day

sammylea80 · 06/08/2016 09:46

making home made kites from bin liners and paper, then taking them to the park to fly!

the six week Summer holiday break is a great bonding time. Just walking to the park and playing hide and seek together makes me happy and it feels like history repeating itself as I used to do the same with my mum

We are lucky to live right next to a field so on nice evenings we have been taking the kids outside for a 10 minute family football game before their bath. They just love it and it has been such a nice thing to do as a family and always wears them out for bed which is a bonus! :-)

My granddaughter laughed so much when (using internet instructions), I tried to teach her how to make an Origami bird.

Somehow, the finished bird looked nothing like the one on the screen, and we had so much fun wondering where we had gone wrong. A memorable moment of joy!

Star Gazing when we were camping last weekend. No light pollution. Absolutely amazing.

Playing in the paddling pool in the garden

NotEnoughTime · 06/08/2016 11:03

I hide little packages of treats (ie tiny boxes of smarties that I have already in the cupboard, "McDonalds" types of toys that the DC already have but have forgotten about!) in our local area and then get the DC to find them using clues (a bit like geocatching but without any tech!)

We can while away many a happy hour doing this Smile

We have spent so many happy times in the garden and greenhouse growing fruit and veg and flowers, the kids love seeing everything sprouting, it gives them so much pleasure.

The beach! So much there for little ones, and no cost except maybe a picnic lunch or an ice cream! ;)
My son ADORES the beach- playing in the sand, paddling in the sea, splashing through rock pools.
And I love sharing all these new moments with him and remembering how much I loved the seaside when I was a kid; sometimes it's liking living all over again when you can see the world through your kids eyes. Just magic

Going crab fishing in devon - the kids absolutely loved it. We got to spend a day in the sun as a family together and had mini competitions as to who could catch the most crabs or the biggest crab etc. Was really good fun and the best thing of all, it was free!

Sid98 · 06/08/2016 11:25

We went to a local funfair and went on the free rides and did lots of fun activities

glennamy · 06/08/2016 11:41

We regularly go into local forests/woods and climb the trees, it's great fun and builds confidence in your children. Too much H&S flying around these days that has stopped/prevented simple things like this making many parents over protective! :)

Going for a walk on the beach and collecting shells!

grease · 06/08/2016 11:52

My Grandchildren love to go to the beach. We take our own picnic, buckets and spades, fishing nets and crabbing lines as well as a dingy. They spend time in the sand collecting shells and building sancastles. They love to use the dingy in the man made pool on Canvey Island beach which is a safe place for the boat as it cannot be swept out to sea and the pool is not too deep. When the tide goes out they drop there lines into the pool from the walled edge for crabbing or explore the rock pools. Whatever the time of day, weather or if the tide is in or out they always have a fab time.

We love messy play in a big builder's tray outside. You can use things you already have in the house like spaghetti, shaving foam, lentils etc. Great fun...love getting messy!

mollymockford · 06/08/2016 12:16

Watching and identifying all the little birds on the feeders in the garden. OK, it's not 100% free, because the feeders have to be refilled...

Ferryfairy · 06/08/2016 12:35

Going to the beach for a breakfast picnic, running through the sprinkler in the garden, building dens, Stickman Olympics in the woods

feefeegabor · 06/08/2016 13:07

We are so lucky to live near the beach in Poole so most of our summer is spent, for nothing, on the beach. We take a picnic and as I know the local roads, usually manage to park for free too. The kids absolutely love the beach, it really is a great day out.

happysouls · 06/08/2016 13:09

There are so many lovely places to go around here that we have had lots of fun over the years. We can go on great bike rides on old converted railway tracks and if you park in the right place that is a free day out! There are plenty of rivers and streams for poking around in and we've taken ropes to make swings and hammocks to hang up. One of the best days was with my sister and my son and they ended up having a mud fight in the river, perfect summer entertainment!

HannahLI · 06/08/2016 13:28

We went to our local pets at home store and held the small animals like the rats, guinea pigs and saw the rabbits. My two boys had so much joy holding a guinea pig and its lovely when it doesnt cost anything! they talked about it for days after.

alabaster002 · 06/08/2016 13:42

Seaside day with our own chairs, food, drink and sunshine!

samcornfield · 06/08/2016 13:45

Mine love walking the dog down the local bridleways. They collect objects along the way
