The school summer holidays are a great time to share lots of wonderful moments with your children, and though the cost of exciting days out can really add up, they’re not the only way to have fun.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons would like you to share the joyful summer moments you’ve shared with your children which cost nothing.

This could be a water fight in the garden on a hot summer day, a trip to a local museum that you both really enjoyed or an impromptu picnic in the park. Have you found creative ways to have fun without the price tag? Whatever your joyful summer moments that cost nothing, share them with Cadbury below.

All those who post a comment below will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £265 Love2Shop voucher and a second winner will win a Merlin family ticket worth up to £200.

Thanks and good luck!

Additional information for Merlin prize: the winner will need to advise on the attraction they would like to visit and they will be sent a set of open dated tickets to use in 2016. The exception is Madame Tussauds in London where it gets very busy. Therefore, the winner will need to advise on three potential dates for their visit and Merlin will book them in in advance for one of those dates.

Our grandchildren come over during the school holidays and we play in our swimming pool which we all love and we play hide-n-seek in the garden and I beat them all by crawling into the dog's kennel - the trouble was that no-one found me and I was there for ages!

Family Walks in the park are totally free and make us as a family, happy as can be.
We play games like Hide and Seek, count to 10 but do NOT peak.
We tell jokes to see who laughs the most. We find funny words in the random sign posts.
We count squirrels as they run past in a hurry, collecting nuts or running in a flurry.
We climb tress or low branches at least, we walk the plank and run from he geese.
Park walks are great no matter the weather, come rain or shine, parks with family are better.
No money spent but many memories gained. Jokes shared and games played.
Park Life's a great life! Park walks are perfect! We're a park life loving family - No Regrets!

We always have a picnic at Hadleigh Castle when the weather is pleasant. It is free and the views are amazing.. The kids love running around and exploring the ruins.

Overnight, I froze some toy dinosaurs in a bowl of water in the freezer. The DC spent hours chipping them free while I drank coffee in the sunshine.

As a family we absolutely love walks in the park. Its a great way to spend weekends in the summer (as well as enjoying cheeky ice creams along the way).

We love geocaching. Download the free official geocaching app, and off you go! A great way to discover new places and get the kids out on some long walks with an exciting result at the end.

Playing on the beach has to be our best free moments. Making sand castles, splashing in the waves and fossil hunting. Brilliant fun.

My daughter loved pretending to be a hairdresser and a make-up artist so when she was bored I used to just sit and let her do my hair and make-up she just love it, She even used to do her fathers hair, I have got photo's of him with loads of little ponytails in. She now does all her friends hair and make-up before a night on the town' Luckerly for them they don't look like we used to.

we've enjoyed going for walks and bike rides in our local country parks x

DimensionAEB · 24/08/2016 22:46

Now that our children are old enough to walk longer distances, we have started to go on walks and hikes together.

Since we live near the Lake District, we have plenty of gorgeous trails of various length that we love to explore - especially when the weather is nice during the Summer.

Not only is it great fun exploring and seeing some spectacular views, but it also keeps us all healthy!

Taking my sons for a walk in the forest was one of the fun things we did when they were young. We took a picnic, looked at insects and animals

pinkspideruk · 25/08/2016 00:02

We love going for picnics and building dens in the garden out of chairs and old blankets - simple, easy and free and any age can play

jamielmdjs · 25/08/2016 00:15

we love going a walk around the country park. There's animals for the boys to see which they love.

ddraig123 · 25/08/2016 00:24

Going to the country park with the dog together - it has animals and a river there for the dog to swim in too.

clarabella12 · 25/08/2016 00:28

trips to the park with a picnic or pokemon hunting my kids love both of them and cost nothing.

joannecc · 25/08/2016 07:35

We love going for long walks on the beach. Myself and my two young teens love taking the dog for a day out there, we make a picnic and make a day of it :-)

Daph57 · 25/08/2016 07:37

Awalk along the beech, we are only 3/4 miles away

cjh123 · 25/08/2016 07:51

In spring we spent a day in the garden planting seeds, sowing potatoes, planting bean plants and learning how to take cuttings and potting them on. We are now reaping the benefits by daily picking beans and tomatoes, digging up potatoes, and have given the cuttings to neighbours and family. We regularly admire our fab sunflower and when it has gone over we will learn about gathering the seeds for next year. Gardening is free, fun, active, educational and gives lush crop to eat.

Been to the beach at Brighton a few times. Never grow out of walking on the beach Smile, and my two kids loves chasing the waves. So simple yet so enjoyable & memorable.Smile
Also manage to do a bit of gardening, and the kids dug up the potatoes they planted. Only small potatoes, but growing potatoes themselves, and digging them up and seeing where they come from, they couldn't wait to eat them, which was a first on their plates.

Picnic at the park with frisbee, football etc. On a nice day can spend hours there x

MamaRiches · 25/08/2016 09:45

We are loving summer 2016! My son Liam and I are having a blast, our favourite days are picnics either in the park or down the beach, we are very lucky to live near the beach.

putting the paddling pool up on a hot day. Lots of fun and its free xx

fleaing · 25/08/2016 10:41

We're lucky enough to live near the seaside, so we spent many summer days at the beach! There was even a huge kite festival on one weekend which we went to, which was all free, and such a fab day out for the kids!

We walk around the local country park with our Grandson. By parking a very short walk away we avoid car parking charges. It takes about an hour to walk around because we stop to look at lots of flora and fauna. One day there were thousands of very tiny frogs jumping across the footpath to the reservoir. There is a visitor centre with activities and information for all ages of children. There's a cafe and best of all, a playground with a zip wire. As we take a packed lunch, the cost of the day is free, apart from about 4 miles worth of petrol.
