Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons would like you to share the joyful summer moments you’ve shared with your children which cost nothing.

This could be a water fight in the garden on a hot summer day, a trip to a local museum that you both really enjoyed or an impromptu picnic in the park. Have you found creative ways to have fun without the price tag? Whatever your joyful summer moments that cost nothing, share them with Cadbury below.

All those who post a comment below will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £265 Love2Shop voucher and a second winner will win a Merlin family ticket worth up to £200.

Definitely picnics and playing at a castle which is local to us as you can get an annual ticket so it works out really good value. We love it!

The joy of running along a pebbly beach. No sand to get in shoes and lots of crunchy noises!

We've just spent the whole afternoon at the park. Friends dropped by randomly for an hour or two, we chatted to others playing and never had a moment when it was just DD and I. A perfect, sociable and free afternoon full of exercise, fresh air, laughing and chatting.

My toddler loves to play outside with a massive foam football. We love larking about outside and if someone turns the hose on, even better. Granny loves the photos of DS laughing his head off, and we love how well he sleeps when he's exhausted from all the fun.

One day we were at a 'lose' end. After spending two weeks of be busy every single day, we were tired and wanted to rest. So, being a hot day, I made some homemade lollies, put them in the freezer and then after watching a movie, we went out on the trampoline and lay down watching the different shaped clouds, eating our frozen lollies.

It was such a lovely hour we spent together. Two boys, one mama, 3 lollies a trampoline and our imagination! Happy times.

We found an old bottle of ds's bubbles. We spent a lovely time photographing the dog leaping up trying to catch them all 😊

mogloveseggs · 04/08/2016 19:29

We've spent the day today at a national trust beach. Picnic brought from home, lots of shell collecting, watching some kite surfers, and a free stream dipping event on which was great we caught all sorts of weird and wonderful creatures. We're going again next week Smile

Spotting teeny tiny froglets in the garden, riding his bike 'faster than a car' so I couldn't catch him and planning a midnight feast (which will never happen because he's SO tired!).

CheeseAtFourpence · 04/08/2016 19:48

A trip to the local park on her bike. We take a picnic and ice cream is a treat. Low cost but we can spend hours there - feeding the ducks, playing on the swings, hunting for Gruffalo......

We live within walking distance of a bridge that goes over the top of a railway line. Ds's favourite thing to do is to walk there together and watch out for trains. His face is a picture when he sees a train coming and he is even more delighted when the train drivers respond to his frantic waving by sounding their horn. The walk there and back is an opportunity for us to talk together and notice the nuances of the world around us, most recently that slugs like warm, rainy days.

We went to the park and played tennis. Ds was a bit monosyllabic at first (nearly a teenager) but was delighted to beat me hollow 5-1. We both love trash talking and sledging each other, and he loves to coach me (lost cause). We headed back chatting away nineteen to the dozen.

Cycling along the seafront, and along the pier at speed! We went down to the seafront in the evening and watched a beautiful sunset over the water. Dd (6) found a couple of trees to climb too which made her very happy.
Lovely to spend relaxing time together.

Sitting in the garden, watching the toddler playing ball with her brother "put your rugby ball in the sky and throooow!!!"

We join the library great book challenge each year. This year its BFG theamed.

Each time the DC grown and are slightly reluctant to go to the library to sign up as school breaks up. Once we are amoungst the shelves they get imersed in books and you can see the little light bulbs switch on as they find a book, or five, that enthuses them. Nothing quite like learning about what you actually want to learn about.

DS2 has been very enthusiastically origami creating, DD is going through a fairies phase and DS1 is very into transport. It always tickles me when they ask/ beg to be allowed to get out more than the minimum two required each time for the scheme. To be able to indulge them and say go on you can have four/ six/ eight, but you're carrying them home, without any cost implication is such a bonus.

Its such a safe relaxed space with no cost pressures of onsales and I get to choose a few books for myself. We're so lucky to have access to such a great free resourse.

Long dog walk through the forest then back home to bake cakes and biscuits. No rushing all very leisurely.

ThomasRichard · 04/08/2016 22:12

Taking the DC rockpooling is always fun. 3yo DD isn't quite sure about catching anything that moves but will happily spend hours directing her grown-up helper to collect sea snails for her and giving her new 'pets' names like Fluffy. 6yo DS is more adventurous and he and I will look under clumps of seaweed for crabs, shrimps and sea anemones. Last time we went we caught a small fish and he was absolutely thrilled. The pic is of DD's snail collection and a crab we caught.

We camped in the garden for the night last week and DC thought it was the best thing ever. We had bacon sandwiches cooked on the camping stove for supper and hot chocolates before snuggling down.

Even though we were awake at stupid o'clock there was something nice about sitting in the back garden with a cuppa just listening to the birds.

MegBusset · 04/08/2016 22:32

We went to the beach today with friends, took a picnic and the kids spent ages playing and burying each other in the sand. Even managed to find a free parking space rather than having to use the pay and display car park, which always makes me happy Grin

scrivette · 04/08/2016 23:25

One of our favourite things to do is play 'ice cream parlours' with items we already have in the house and then go and eat them sitting on the garden swing with our shoes off.

bettythebuilder · 04/08/2016 23:36

We went for a day trip to York for a walk around the city walls. The weather was lovely and it was a super day, lots to see and do, plenty of history to educate us all, and it was free to do. We took a picnic and stopped off at various play parks on the way round!

mistletoeprickles · 04/08/2016 23:41

Took DD to the cathedral where we went on a hunt to see how many animals we could find on the stain glass windows, tombs and floor tiles.
She loves the cathedral anyway but we read lots about kings and local history.

puglife · 05/08/2016 00:50

Nothing beats a picnic in the park with a frisbee and bat and ball to play with. We can spend all day there, costs nothing and everyone loves it.

Lovewhereilive · 05/08/2016 07:22

We spend as much time outside as possible. Picnics, walks, bike rides, beach visits, bbqs, playing in the garden. Love it.

defineme · 05/08/2016 07:37

Another vote for blackberry picking here:bike ride, picnic, pick berries and apples, return home and make crumble-lovely day!
