The Great Mumsnet Laundry Debate, Part I. £300 Love2Shop voucher to be won NOW CLOSED

To celebrate Fairy Non Bio’s sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, we’re launching the Great Mumsnet Laundry Debate – as with all great Wink series, it's a three-parter. Part I is about how often you wash your bed sheets (as we know, always a hot topic on Mumsnet).

We all know that washing bed sheets can be total faff: there’s stripping the bed, then there’s putting the wash on (are you a warm 40C or a hot 90C type?) Then there’s hanging it out and the struggle for drying space (unless you use the dryer Blush?) After that there’s folding - and, for the super-keen, perhaps even ironing. Finally, there’s getting the darn things back on the bed.

So - how often do you wash your bed sheets? And how often do you wash your DC’s bed sheets? Do you have a specific process? Perhaps you change pillow cases weekly, but sheets and duvet covers every two weeks? How often do you change your mattress protector (Blush again)? Do you use softener?

Whatever your bed sheet-washing process, do share it with Fairy Non Bio in the thread below, and maybe even give us a live update from the Mumsnet Talk App as you're waiting for the load to finish Grin.

Everyone who posts will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

If possible I like to be able to change them once a week all depending on work and my children

hiddenmichelle · 06/08/2016 08:02

once a fortnight - but honestly - I can "forget" sometimes....

SouthWindsWesterly · 06/08/2016 08:08

Once a week for DH and myself.

Twice a week for the children. All are done at 40deg Eco wash with non-bio.

vonniebab2 · 06/08/2016 08:12

Sheets are washed weekly tumble dry them in the winter line dry in the summer

lizd31 · 06/08/2016 08:26

My bedding is changed fortnightly

strawberrisc · 06/08/2016 08:27

Only me and DD in this house. I wash our bedsheets fortnightly (usually) but no less than three-weekly. If I have guests over they stay in my bed and I wash them on the morning they are due to stay.

renas · 06/08/2016 08:31

I try and strip bed sheets and pillows cases and wash weekly as part of my routine. Wash in non bio shops own usually at 40 degrees.

suewho · 06/08/2016 08:35

I aim to wash all our sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers once a week but life usually gets in the way and they often go a fortnight. I wash them on a 40 degree wash with a nice fabric conditioner and hang them out to dry in the summer or in the tumble drier in the winter. Thinks like pillows, duvets and mattress covers get washed when I realise that I can't remember when they were last done!

MimiJoy · 06/08/2016 08:44

I wash all bedding once a week on a 60 degree wash (which also helps to keep the washing machine clean).

Spencer1234 · 06/08/2016 08:52

In summer once a week but I do confess it's less often in winter as it's such a pain to get them dry after washing.

AnimalAddict · 06/08/2016 08:53

I do them every other week but more in the Summer, and if the weather is decent enough I try to always dry them outside :)

Chelsea26 · 06/08/2016 08:56

Once a fortnight - it's my worst job but I do love getting in to clean sheets

jools401 · 06/08/2016 09:01

Weekly usually, but can go a bit longer if the weather is bad in winter.

flozza42 · 06/08/2016 09:09

I was all our bedsheets weekly three lots of beds and I like to was at 40c and depending in the weather line dry. I always have to iron the sheets and duvet covers, there's nothing worse then crumpled looking beds!

rutsan · 06/08/2016 09:09

I wash mine and my childrens bedsheets once a week, usually on a Sunday, more if neeb be. I wash them on 70c then tumble them and put them back on the bed. I use lenor unstoppables then my whole room smells fresh all week, I love the feeling of nice clean fresh bedsheets, helps me sleep better.

valbuk · 06/08/2016 09:09

I wash sheets fortnightly unless its very hot or someone has been ill and in bed a lot. I wash at 40 degrees with an occasional 60 degree wash, just a small amount of softener. I do tumble dry and I always iron as I use cotton sheets and I love the look and feel of clean ironed sheets

jenniwren12 · 06/08/2016 09:20

I change our bedding every 2 weeks, every week if it's hot weather

ukegirl60 · 06/08/2016 09:22

once a week normally but sometimes more often over the summer, I always sleep well the day I put on the fresh linen

1pmt · 06/08/2016 09:23

I wash mine and my little boy who's 7 bedding Weekly, dry on washing line depending on weather and a quick 10 minutes in dryer to drop any creases to save on ironing. My oldest Son I usually do every 2 weeks, he's 28 and has moved back home, he's suppose to do his own but never get's round to it.

cully80 · 06/08/2016 09:33

every sunday morning

prwilson · 06/08/2016 09:35

Every two to four weeks.

EllieArnold · 06/08/2016 09:44

My bedding every 3 weeks unless needed sooner, my son is really sweaty at night so I change his weekly or sometimes twice a week. My daughter is 2, I tend to wash hers as and when Leakey nappies or other incidents occur usually at least once a week. As I get hayfever really badly I can't dry my bedding outside either 🙈

sammylea80 · 06/08/2016 09:44

minimum of once a week!

janeyf1 · 06/08/2016 09:47

Every week on average

samcornfield · 06/08/2016 09:48

Mine get washed every few weeks. I am better at washing the kids sheets than our own
