Mother’s Day is just around the corner and, to celebrate, Lidl want to know what dish you'd like to be served on a perfect Mothering Sunday. Whether this is a snack, starter, main course, cake or dessert, please share your ideal dish on this thread - then Michelin-starred chef Kevin Love will create recipes using Lidl items for a selection of MNers choices! (In an ideal world your OH or DC would then actually make them for you!)

So please share on this thread what you've love to see created for you on Mother's Day - Lidl would love to hear them

Share your ideal Mother’s Day dish with Lidl by posting on this thread and you will be entered into a prize draw where five MNers will each win a £50 Lidl voucher.

Please note your comments may be used by Lidl elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck!

I'd like slow cooked pork with a BBQ sauce and potato wedges. Desert would be cheesecake with a raspberry sauce 😋😋

clopper · 16/02/2016 15:01

I would love a roast dinner followed by profiteroles.

Cambam2010 · 16/02/2016 15:19

I would love a juicy steak - medium/rare, ideally cooked on the bbq, with mounds of fried onions, cauliflower cheese and creamed leeks. If I could have 3 courses I'd have baked Camembert to start and fresh berries with whipped cream for pud. I follow a low carb / high fat diet and this would be the bees knees for me.

a lovely italian lasagne

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/02/2016 16:03

My ideal Mother's Day dinner would be:
nut roast with all the trimmings
a huge chocolate cake, with cinnamon, ginger and chilli, with fresh raspberries and mango on the side
chocolate mints to pick at all afternoon
Earl Grey on tap!

Allalonenow · 16/02/2016 16:14

Roast pork with all the trimmings, including apple sauce, and sage & onion stuffing and lashings of onion gravy, would be a wonderful treat for me, with a glass or two of something red and mellow!

Something light for pudding, sparkling fruit jelly made with prosecco perhaps!! Wine Wine

I'm easy to please : a bacon sandwich : white bread, no butter. Brown sauce Grinmug of tea
But not in bed ! Smile

MauriceMossMug · 16/02/2016 22:14

Breakfast in bed. Eggs Atlantic, fresh coffee, peace and quiet to eat it.

Perfect!

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 17/02/2016 08:30

Breakfast in bed. Ideally involving a concoction of really good scrambled eggs, wilted spinach and hollandaise sauce (a bit like eggs florentine but I don't like poached eggs). Some sort of indulgent carbs - brioche, good croissants or American pancakes. Fresh fruit. And really good coffee rather than our normal instant.

Givemecoffeeplease · 17/02/2016 08:37

Chicken roasted with lemon inside, potato wedges and very very hot gravy. (Yeah I know. It's chicken and chips). With buttery mash and roasted veg.

chibsortig · 17/02/2016 08:55

My idea Mother's Day dish would be slow roast leg of lamb with rosemary, crispy roast potatoes, mash potato, green beans, cauliflower and carrots, onion gravy and mint sauce.
Salted caramel cake with clotted cream ice cream to follow. And lots of nice coffee.
Most definitely better if cooked and cleaned up after by someone else on the day too Grin

aristocat · 17/02/2016 10:21

Beef Stroganoff for me please with rice and salad Smile

Easy to prepare and cook!

tizliz · 17/02/2016 15:32

I love a roast chicken dinner, but OH is not so keen so doesn't cook it for me.

muddymary · 17/02/2016 15:49

Rare steak, chips, a glass of prosecco and some sort of chocolate and caramel dessert.

Lg74 · 17/02/2016 20:11

My ideal Mother's day dish would be slow cooked lamb shanks in a tomato, red wine and mushroom sauce, with crispy roast potatoes and steamed broccoli. Chocolate cake for pud. 😊

JoyceDivision · 18/02/2016 03:01

Steak & Chips with red wine sauce and choc mousse for after. All magically without fat or calories, obvsGrin

Whataboutnodetox · 18/02/2016 10:06

Blue fillet steak, triple cooked chips, oven roasted vine tomatoes, beer battered onion rings, French beans and bernaise sauce.

foxessocks · 18/02/2016 15:27

I'd like roast leg of lam with all the trimmings and loads of mint sauce and then apple pie and ice cream for pudding! Please!

Sairelou · 18/02/2016 15:32

Roast leg of lamb with dauphinois potatoes and honey roasted carrots, yum!

stumblymonkey · 18/02/2016 16:11

My absolute ideal Mother's Day dinner would be a lovely lamb shank in a red wine sauce with some dauphinoise potatoes and Spring veg. Obviously followed by a good comforting dessert like apple crumble and custard!

bridge16 · 18/02/2016 16:51

My ideal lunchtime dish is Pasta Pepperonata by Jamie Oliver. Its so scrummy and lovely with a bit of garlic bread on the side!

MAForster · 18/02/2016 16:57

A nice roast beef, cooked by somebody else!

jandoc · 18/02/2016 17:00

potatoes and mince

cazzzie987 · 18/02/2016 17:03

Butternut squash lasagne without peppers and lots of cheesy garlic bread. Of course, the best part is the chocolate dessert. Any will do :-)

TracyKNixon · 18/02/2016 17:10

On Mothering Sunday, I enjoy a homemade roast beef Sunday dinner served with Yorkshire puddings, fresh vegetables and wholegrain mustard! I don't mind cooking it myself as long as someone else does the dishes!
