If you've got a great recipe you knock up with a juicer, nutrition extractor or even an old-school blender then Lidl want to hear about it. Whether it's a vitamin-boosting smoothie, a cold-busting soup or even a nut butter, please share it on this thread

What creative recipes have you mastered with a blender or juicer? Maybe you have a genius recipe for filling your kids chock-full of vegetables or fruit, or you've worked out a way to use it to make something you'd normally have to pay loads more to buy in a shop? Do you use the chopper for making short work of rubs or marinades? Or maybe you use the crushed ice to whip up summer drinks and knockout cocktails. Whatever your surprising use of a blender or juicer is, Lidl then we'd love to know more.

Lidl want to hear about these recipes to celebrate their launch of their new Silvercrest Kitchen Tool Nutrition Mixier on 18th January for (£29.99 - hurry while stocks last Grin)

Everyone who posts a recipe on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where five MNers will each win a £50 Lidl voucher.

Thanks and best of luck,

Half a banana
Couple tbsp of oats
half tsp hot choc powder
splodge 100% peanut butter
topped up with unsweetened almond milk.

My kids love this and is sometimes the only brekkie I can get into 12 yr old boy before school

WowOoo · 17/01/2016 15:00

I've used a blender to make pesto sauces and other sauces or marinades where a lot of fine chopping is needed.

I also use one to make a lovely asian style chilli sauce - chillies, red pepper, lemon, garlic, tomato ketchup and soy sauce. Drizzled this over some chicken last time. Yum.

fancy frappuccino:ice cubes, milk, sugar and some Nescafe granules.

In my blender for 1minute

Better than starbucks! Goes all thick and creamy

skyeskyeskye · 17/01/2016 16:14

DD loves smoothies and milkshakes, so we chuck bananas, strawberries and milk into the blender and whizz it up. I can also add other fruits that she doesn't like, and she doesn't even know they are in there.

Passmethecrisps · 17/01/2016 18:16

Yesterday's smoothie was kale, apple, carrot and red chilli. It was great

sharond101 · 17/01/2016 20:59

Easy lentil soup

6 peeled and chopped carrots

This is a smoothie recipe that I discovered by accident but now often make:
1 cup of Almond milk
Large handful of Spinach
1 large Cooked beetroot
1.5 cups Frozen mixed berries
Half a banana for sweetness

When I was a kid I hated milk so my mum used to make Banana YukMuk in her blender in order to get calcium into me. Despite the name it's delicious (and now the dc like it because of the name) Grin

4 large ripe bananas
1 large pot of plain yogurt
1 medium carton of double cream
Soft brown sugar to taste (start with about a desert spoon full initially)

Peel and chop the bananas into the blender, then add everything else and blitz together. When smooth, pour into serving dishes. For the true 70s experience, serve with Sponge Fingers to dip into the YukMuk...

If I'm making it these days I tend to use nice live greek yogurt but when we were little there wasn't much choice of flavour for yogurt, especially for the bigger pots. You can use flavoured yogurt if you like, and vary the fruit too - things like strawberries and raspberries work well in season (not so good out of season, you end up using a lot of fruit so could be expensive!). The soft brown sugar adds a nice toffee-ish flavour to it, so don't replace it with white sugar if you don't have it - try honey or maple syrup or even toffee sauce to give it flavour. Or leave the sugar out to be healthier! And chia seeds and/or other nuts and seeds are nice in it (especially if you have a powerful blender that will blitz them rather than make the YukMuk taste gritty).

I've also used this as a basis for a non-cheese cheesecake before - by adding gelatine (following instructions on the packet!) and pouring it onto a normal cheesecake biscuit crumb base, then leaving it to set.

I tend to chuck whatever is looking a bit sad in the blender and make a smoothie. I came up with this the other day and it's lovely:

Large handful of spinach
Handful of blueberries
1/6th pineapple
Juice of an apple

Surprisingly good!

Chocolatemousegirl · 18/01/2016 07:24

I like apple, Kewi, kale, pineapple, ginger and water/apple juice - amazing colour and lovely taste!

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 18/01/2016 08:12

Ive just had a blend of banana, mango, spinach, and almond milk for breakfast. Was lovely.

WolfiesDad · 18/01/2016 10:45

I sometimes use mine to make pancakes...
1 Banana
2 eggs
25 grams oats
50 ml milk

blend until it's all smoothly mixed, and fry in a little butter or coconut oil.
this will make 2 to 3 pancakes (depending on how big you make them)
I like them with some nut-butter on top.
My wife likes Nutella, my daughter sticks to lemon and sugar

Jaxinthebox · 18/01/2016 14:35

beetroot, kale, brocolli, frozen mixed berries, bit of ginger, half a lemon. In my blender and I can get my teen to drink this and not know there is green veg in it! Every morning we all have a breakfast smoothie, I vary the fruit/veg ratio and it always gets finished.

Sammyislost · 18/01/2016 17:48

I've been making pasta sauce with LOTS of hidden blended vegetables, I also whizz up the beef mince as well, as the children claim not to enjoy eating it when it's lumpy! Smooth vegetable and meat sauce that the kids LOVE!!!

purplepandas · 18/01/2016 21:23

Banana, honey, spinach, cinnamon, chia seeds. Sounds grim but try it!

mineofuselessinformation · 18/01/2016 22:08

Just coming back to say I bought the Nutrition Mixer today, and lots of fruit and veg...
I'll report back!

flamingtoaster · 18/01/2016 22:14

Apple and Parsnip soup:

Sweat garlic and onion, add diced apple (I use eating apples - Gala or Egrement Russett works particularly well in terms of flavour) and parsnip (adjust proportions to taste), add stock and simmer until the parsnip is soft. Blend. Can make a big batch and reheat the next day.

pockledigg · 19/01/2016 04:55

Raw beetroot, spinach, ginger, avocado, walnuts and pea protein powder, whizzed up in the Nutribullet. Delicious and really filling. When Spring comes I put a few young nettles in too. Ridiculously healthy.

LucyBo17 · 19/01/2016 09:13

1 banana
1/2 beetroot
handful of frozen berries - whatever is in the freezer, usually raspberries
100mL water

Lovely cold smoothie/sorbet

alibabbaskeggy · 19/01/2016 09:35

one lime
some grated ginger
small handful of mint
some frozen berries
a banana
some spinach or kale

blizz it up and delicious nutrious brekkie

hdh747 · 19/01/2016 09:43

Here's a juice to use up the tough stalk from a head of brocolli, that tastes surprisingly good

Juice: 3 medium apples, 1 medium beetroot, 1 large brocolli stalk, 1" of root ginger.

KaraokeQueenOfTheNorth · 19/01/2016 10:09

I'm doing the 5:2 diet and my favourite lunch on a fast day is a smoothie made from almond milk, beetroot, strawberries, blueberries and banana (i use frozen). It comes out at around 120 cal, is a pleasing pink colour and tastes amazing.

penka · 19/01/2016 10:39

Mango, kale, pineapple plus vanilla soy milk.
