With Christmas on it’s way, Homebase have launched a quiz on Mumsnet and would like you to have a go and let us know what you think of the result!

Please take a few minutes to do the quiz and find out what kind of Christmas host you are and return to this thread to let us know your result. Are you a last-minute shopper or an all year-round planner? Find out with our festive bit of froth.

Everyone who posts about their quiz results on this thread will be entered in to a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Homebase voucher.

Thanks & good luck,
MNHQ

nazrana82 · 22/12/2015 17:53

LOL! well they got it right, yes im a LAST MINUTE PULL IT TOGETHER! regardless of how much planning i do it always seems to be last minute with me :(

GossamerApronStrings · 22/12/2015 18:05

Military planner? Ha! I'm actually a last minute throw it together type I think... It's just my affinity for cooking from scratch that must've thrown off the algorithm... ;)

Maiyakat · 22/12/2015 18:19

Consummate delegator. There are advantages to having the smallest house in the family - I never host Wink

cristalfiona · 22/12/2015 19:33

Military operator, which isn't really me, but a lot of the question didn't have an option I'd actually pick...

Alice4073 · 22/12/2015 20:42

Lol, I am a Military operator

I disagree :)

Merry Xmas Everyone

slbhill42 · 22/12/2015 20:46

Consummate delegator

crayola88 · 22/12/2015 20:48

Delegator hahah not surprising!

lollylaus83 · 22/12/2015 21:42

I'm a Last minute pull-it-together - this is me down to a T. I'm literally still shopping, never mind anything else! Merry Christmas everyone!!

nanoobaku · 22/12/2015 22:00

Military operator

HelenPlant · 22/12/2015 22:06

Consummate delegator.....sounds about right! Christmas is still something I expect my mum to do!

lottiegirl · 22/12/2015 22:53

Consummate delegator
but dont really think I am

obi1kinobi · 22/12/2015 23:22

Military operator - most definitely.
Christmas holidays are always enjoyable - I don't agree with giving myself a stress related heart attack :).

Jenerate · 22/12/2015 23:44

Last minute pull-it-together - not entirely true, although I do tend to end up wrapping presents till very early in the morning of Christmas Eve.

darlingred · 23/12/2015 19:45

Consummate delegater - yeah that sounds about right. If everyone else is busy with a job I'm happy.

Daariina · 01/01/2016 00:38

Consummate delegator. Kind of true, kind of not.

NewShoesTwoShoes · 03/01/2016 20:50

Consummate delegator - true about food preparation. But I'm an advance planner in present buying!

PegsPigs · 04/01/2016 19:38

Consummate delegator. Yep that's me down to a t! I am a project manager after all Grin

WhereYouLeftIt · 10/01/2016 14:50

Military operator - which I'd definitely say I was, even though I had to answer some of the questions 'incorrectly'. Had to smile at the "you'd happily do a full run-through of the day in advance just to make sure every tiny detail had been considered". Err, have been known to trial new gravy recipes, or stuffing mixes in advance Blush.

First thing people are greeted with - DH pouring wine.
Mince pies - well M&S is my local supermarket I suppose.
Christmas Playlist - there really isn't one. I used to have a CD with Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin and Nat King Cole singing 'White Christmas' and the like, though.

Step too far - loo roll AND bleach! Quite like the duvets but they're winter rather than Christmas and I have exactly those festive binbags, just for collecting wrapping paper and cracker detritus of course.
Post lunch is just sitting around chatting.
TV is Doctor Who!

villagefox · 10/01/2016 15:38

I'm a first time thrower - this is kind of true as I have never cooked a Christmas dinner. My parents invite the extended family for Christmas lunch and then I do a Christmas buffet for my inlaws for the evening.

ZaneMumsnet · 22/03/2016 16:01

Thank you all so much for sharing what type of Christmas Host you are. Our sincerest apologies for the delay with the prize draw on this.

The winner of the prize draw is buckley1983 :)
