With Christmas on it’s way, Homebase have launched a quiz on Mumsnet and would like you to have a go and let us know what you think of the result!

Please take a few minutes to do the quiz and find out what kind of Christmas host you are and return to this thread to let us know your result. Are you a last-minute shopper or an all year-round planner? Find out with our festive bit of froth.

Everyone who posts about their quiz results on this thread will be entered in to a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Homebase voucher.

Thanks & good luck,
MNHQ

I missed the title first time round but it basically said I've never made a to do list in my life. I have lists of my lists so that's wrong.
So I did it again to get the title and I changed one answer (from Ant and Dec to the Queen) and apparently I am a delegator. Couldn't be further from the truth. Control freak city here as my mother would confirm.

And my decorations are up.

Military Operator

I think they are pretty wrong. They didn't have lots of options, like no tv on Xmas day, or spending the day delivering food to the housebound, champagne/Buck's Fizz as a drink etc. No decs up here yet but then we leave them up until 12th night so we don't rush to have them for 5 weeks.

I think I'm taking the quiz too seriously.

Kahuna · 10/12/2015 08:38

First time thrower apparently Hmm

Odd seeing how I've hosted Christmas for my entire family every year for the past 25 years!

AGrinWithoutACat · 10/12/2015 09:14

Consummate Delegator Grin

Laughing at this cause I am a bit but the other half of me is a control freak! I didn't fit a lot of the questions though .. Christmas decorations are already up and we don't have bird as DB is allergic so the local pork joint is sitting in the freezer since DH was given it as a tip along with the lamb joint I picked up reduced last month (love a bargain me)

Christmas is a family day and between my mum and sister and I (the male members of the family don't get a look in as we like cooking) we will divide up meals and everyone will bring bits and help with prep so that one person isn't left out of the fun and games - we then cheerfully hand over the clean up to the various DHs and sit and have a gossip

elvisthehamster · 10/12/2015 16:14

First time thrower here too, which I most certainly am not (huff!) I am very organised and a Christmas pro Xmas Smile...maybe it just because I liked the chocolate mince pies ?

PS my decs are up!

gillyweed · 10/12/2015 20:04

MilItaly planner - this is spot on, although this year has somewhat gone to pot with an ill mother, 2 under 3, a baby on the way and my husband working in another country the whole week before Xmas... at least I've made the Christmas cake!

CheeseEMouse · 11/12/2015 11:52

First time thrower, which is not right. I am also feeling very laid back about the whole thing!

Silverstones · 11/12/2015 23:38

Military operator.

Yes, they might be right there!

Stiles · 11/12/2015 23:50

First time thrower.

I'm so not. I'm a military planner when it comes to presents. What's the other choices? Is there something for Lazy Fuckers on the actual day? We get a takeaway so I don't have to cook or stress. Grin. I make sure the day is very relaxed but I do plan everything else months in advance.

GetKnitted · 12/12/2015 00:00

Apparently I'm a Military operator. To be honest I think I confused the algorithm Xmas Wink

BrieAndChilli · 12/12/2015 00:14

Military planner which is very true. I have a xmas notebook full of lists

FawcettSA · 12/12/2015 05:46

I felt a bit bad when it said I was a Military Operator as though I forced Christmas on everyone, but it seems lots of us got this so I'm happy now lol

foxymama1983 · 12/12/2015 06:11

I got Miltary operator,I do like to have everything in order to have a less stressful time over the festive season.

snozzlemaid · 12/12/2015 06:20

Another military planner here. Makes me feel a little more in control as I keep getting panic moments when I think of something I need to do or get. Finding it a challenge to organise things this year as I'm working more this year.

WinterBabyof89 · 12/12/2015 06:22

Delegator - completely accurate Xmas Grin

I don't host Christmas, we visit DH's family late morning and then spend the rest of the day at my parents being doted on

Hell would freeze over before the time when Christmas Day is celebrated at mine!

bobble5366 · 12/12/2015 07:38

I like to make it easy for me, but fun for my guests, I am generally in the kitchen by the oven putting nibbles in and handing warm scrummy fingerfoods out for my guests, I get the kids padding pool out in the conservatory fill it with water and loads of ice, which I keep topping up, and this is used for the cans of beer, soft drinks wine and floating children's bath toys - I howl with laughter when/if one of my guests falls in !!

MimiJoy · 12/12/2015 07:39

I'm a Military Operator apparently! Not really surprised as I am a planner and try to be organised. However, if anything, I plan too early and have to change things last minute to accommodate anything that doesn't go to plan!

lindseystuart85 · 12/12/2015 07:42

My results was Military operator hehe!!!!
That was fun

katleea35 · 12/12/2015 07:45

Consummate delegator

claza93 · 12/12/2015 07:48

Consummate delegator - I would say this is true! Haha!

AnyoneButSanta · 12/12/2015 07:54

Consummate delegator. Not entirely untrue because the correct answer to the question about the Xmas decs is that the DC and D's friend put them up last weekend - the house looks like an explosion in Woolworths.

janethegirl2 · 12/12/2015 07:55

Yet another military operator, but some of the options were really silly.
By now, most people will have the decorations up.and I prefer to offer champagne on arrival (or a hot drink to non drinkers)

Maddaddam · 12/12/2015 07:59

It said I was a military operator. Not quite sure about that. We like homemade crafts, cooking and lots of winter walks.
But I have hardly bought any presents yet, the house is a tip and we have not thought about Christmas food yet.
Still, we make a mean origami tree decoration.

wendymurray3 · 12/12/2015 08:09

Military Operator. It is just not true!

CheeseAtFourpence · 12/12/2015 08:22

Last minute pull it together...mmm. My presents were bought in September and are all wrapped, my shopping is ordered, decorations are up and lists have been written for jobs from the 21st onwards! I'm not sure the quiz is quite right.
