With Christmas on it’s way, Homebase have launched a quiz on Mumsnet and would like you to have a go and let us know what you think of the result!

Please take a few minutes to do the quiz and find out what kind of Christmas host you are and return to this thread to let us know your result. Are you a last-minute shopper or an all year-round planner? Find out with our festive bit of froth.

Everyone who posts about their quiz results on this thread will be entered in to a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Homebase voucher.

Thanks & good luck,
MNHQ

Military planner - i think not! but as the answers were not always what i would have picked, and had to go with the nearest, i guess that is why(

Military Operator

WildTurkey101 · 20/12/2015 17:26

Last minute pull it together. Fairly accurate, I suppose. I did manage (for first time ever) to get most presents bought by November this year, more from financial necesssity than good planning though. However, the tree is going up today and I'm still knitting some decorations Xmas Blush

Themodernuriahheep · 20/12/2015 17:34

Military operator.

With my immediate family, have to be, and given the extended family is abroad, including in military logistics, no way could I be anything else.

Christmas, Easter, Wedding, DS' christening, all planned with plans b and c to take care of ishoos.

Carrotcruncher11 · 20/12/2015 17:37

Last minute pull it togetherer - accurate....waitrose entertaining doing most of my dinner and all the guests bringing a dish! But in my defence I am working right up to Christmas Eve

DingleberryFinn · 20/12/2015 17:45

Military planner, though struggled to find some of the answers applicable...

BertPuttocks · 20/12/2015 17:56

Consummate delegator.

Not accurate at all but probably because there were so many quiz questions where none of the answers applied to me.

The decorations are up.
I have a turkey but not an organic one.
No idea who most of those celebrities were.
I won't be watching any of those programmes.
We won't be having a guests so won't be serving anything to them.

StandoutMop · 20/12/2015 18:05

I got consummate delegator. Agree with all the pp saying some answers no options fitted, but overall, it is probably right - mostly because I don't really do Xmas and rely on others for all the festive touches.

Buttercup27 · 20/12/2015 18:28

Military planner! Which is about right, made my schedule weeks ago!

acsec · 20/12/2015 18:43

Military operator - I do start early- I get my wrapping paper and tags in the January sales. I'm looking forward to Christmas very much!

NotCitrus · 20/12/2015 18:50

Last minute pull it together, which isn't true - my category should be "chilled out relaxed host" - decorations are a bit rubbish but I knew where they were, food is whatever the nice butcher has tomorrow, all guests are appreciated but also know where the supermarket is if they want anything not in my house, and all those Xmas themed items were way too far!

Gazelda · 20/12/2015 19:11

Military operator. Which is probably quite accurate - I have a spreadsheet that gets updated during the year and lots of lists of instructions.
That's not to say that I don't relax and enjoy the holidays, planning enables me to factor in some chill time in the knowledge that everything is under control.

ProfYaffle · 20/12/2015 19:39

Military Operator Confused I'm really not ....

windowmouse · 20/12/2015 20:42

I'm a Military operator...I'm not sure that is right but I am strict about the traditions being followed!

princesssmitheee · 20/12/2015 20:54

im a First-time thrower
:D thats accurate

WelliesAndPyjamas · 20/12/2015 21:45

Military planner!! Odd that, as Christmas Day is our most laid back day of the year! Admittedly, I am a bit military bossyboots the rest of the year, but needs must to keep things running smoothly. Christmas Day is different though, it's all about just the five of us cosying up for the day, good easy to prepare food, good wine, log fire all day, phonecalls to family and friends, and feet up.

Longtalljosie · 20/12/2015 21:46

Military operator - and no it's not true! I think too much weight is probably given to making your own mince pies. I went for the walk though - we usually go for a wander after lunch though not an organised hike!

Equiem89 · 20/12/2015 21:48

Military operater. True for some aspects but not for others. My decorations are up and no one in my family is a big drinker

Powaqa · 20/12/2015 21:55

Consummate delegator - but a lot of the questions didn't have a suitable "I really don't care because we hate Christmas" answer. We dont host - there's just 4 of us. We don't even have a Christmas dinner just a big buffet style dinner. Presents get opened then we all sod off to our respective spaces and do our own things

BellaWella86 · 20/12/2015 22:50

'First-Time Thrower'

cagsd · 20/12/2015 23:26

I'm a first-time thrower apparently! Not quite sure how they worked that out...

Lobatri · 20/12/2015 23:49

Consummate delegator- I wish! Think I may have completed it thinking of my ideal/wish to be totally relaxed and unafraid of what really is to comeeXmas Smile

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 20/12/2015 23:55

Apparently I'm a first time thrower... Which isn't even remotely true Xmas Shock

boptanana · 21/12/2015 01:02
